We are a region of many faiths, belief systems, and ideologies, and all are welcome here except those intending to raid or invade us, or to break the rules here, those folks are right out. We count to three, not four or five, or two except when intending to proceed to three,

The name Lazarus likely refers to the Bible passage where St. Lazarus is raised from the dead:

Lazarus began as a creation of the game-makers, as a region that would revive Nations that had ceased to exist, It was created supposedly by Testlandia, and then in its ancient History went through many Delegate challenges, with raiding Organizations and others occupying Lazarus. Eventually it established itself as a stable entity, with influential Delegates being Killer Kitty, North Harmoneia, Dezzland, and North East Somerset. Delegacy switches came out either through relatively non-disruptive coup d'etat's, Delegacy switching, or regional Elections.

Eventually however there was dissent in the region over its direction, and this eventually led to the establishment of the People's Republic of Lazarus, which was a regime that was largely hostile to raiders and invaders, and would purge influential figures such as North East Somerset, and establish itself under first Feux, then Milograd*, then Kazmr who would eventually coup the region after an attempt was made by some individuals with ties to The Pacific, who wished to establish the New Lazarene Order. The People's Republic of Lazarus was very active when compared to its counterpart, and some consider it a golden age of Lazarus, though to its detractors it was authoritarian, and non inclusive to anyone who wasn't a defender, neutral, or inactive raider.

After the fall of the New Lazarene Order, Lazarus shifted towards the regime known as the Humane Republic of Lazarus, with notable Delegates including Kazmr, Funkadelia, Harmoneia, and New Rogernomics and Loftegen*. This regime would be largely successful and while having some periods of inactivity it did hold regular regional Elections, and wasn't as hostile to raider participation as the People's Republic of Lazarus, even though maintaining strong ties to defender Organizations including the Founderless Regions Alliance.

This peace was not to last however as Funkadelia became a divisive figure in the region to many individuals later to be known as the Revolt, and the establishment of the Celestial Union theme and the direction of the region brought this crisis to a head, in a period known as the Lazarene Civil War. Its result was a defeat for the members of the Revolt, which included Amerion, Harmoneia, and much of the active citizenry of Lazarus, who were put on trial and removed from the region. Drop Your Pants was removed from administrative roles. Funkadelia and his close ally Lamb, would establish the Undead Dominion of Lazarus, and then later the Khanate of Lazarus.

During the period from the Undead Dominion of Lazarus through to the Khanate of Lazarus, the region would continue to struggle to find purpose and direction, and the loss of a large pool of citizens for better or worse resulted in a lack of activity compared to the either the Humane Republic of Lazarus or the Celestial Union. With the region solidly under the grip of a new elite, it got overconfident, and eventually handed over the Delegacy to Imkiville, who promptly coup's the region to establish a period known as LazAnarchy.

LazAnarchy was not an ideal period for Lazarus as many different Regions, Organizations, and prominent individuals, pushed for their own form of Lazarus in a constitutional convention, which in hindsight failed due to the difficulty to establish a format and a regional constitution in a reasonable time frame. This would cause resentment within Regions that once had close ties and alliances to Lazarus during the Humane Republic of Lazarus and the Celestial Union, and cause many active members of the Constitutional Convention to boycott or refuse to participate in the new regime. Imkiville would then became the Delegate of Lazarus on a permanent basis till handing over the Delegacy to Treadwellia, who continues to be the Delegate of Lazarus to this day.

Politics​ (top)

The political system of Lazarus is solidly organized along the lines of the Delegacy being the Head of State, and the Head of Government being either the Prime Minister of Lazarus, who can be elected or appointed, and the Executive Council, which is made up of the Delegate and Vice Delegate as chairs, representatives from the region, and representatives from the Council of Lazarene Security and the Court of Lazarus. The Assembly of Lazarus writes and votes on laws, regional appointments, votes in regional Elections, and may also vote on declarations of war and peace. The Council of Lazarene Security is the major security body of the region, and holds the power to set endorsement limits, eject or ban Nations from the region, or to ban Nations from the region and face restrictions upon citizenship. The Court of Lazarus has the abiltiy to review existing laws and procedures and to charge citizens of crimes that take place within Lazarus.

In terms of the political situation overall, Lazarus has gone through controversial decisions, one being a declaration of war against The Pacific, and then later disruption over who would replace Imkville, with it being a divided issue on whether Treadwellia should continue, and upon his pick for the Vice Delegacy, New Rogernomics. This would culminate in Cormac, a now DOS player, leaving the region, and many of his supporters doing the same. Eventually after this event, the region would stablize under Treadwellia, with some minor disruptions over regional policy to do with Raiding and Defending, and the establishment of democratic elections for Prime Minister.

Lazarene Politics today have become a quiet affair, with either satisfaction with the status quo, apathy for changing it, or lack of need for change. The only recent developments have been the end of the LazCorp corporate regional theme, and the establishment of the League of Lazarus or the Lazarene League, which is a greek styled theme, and the establishment of an Executive Council as a collective executive that can set regional policy, decide the status of elections, and otherwise direct the region of Lazarus.
