General Election (August 2020) - Campaign thread for Temmi
#1
Hello everyone! ^-^

I wanted to go ahead and make this thread awhile. I plan on posting my ideas tomorrow (8/22) in this thread and begin my campaign!

Good afternoon, Lazarus! I hope everyone is having a great Saturday so far!  ^-^

I wanted to take some time to go over the ideas that I have that I think can help make Lazarus even better and my plans for trying to address what I see as our biggest problems. I joined Lazarus awhile ago, when Imaginary was head of the government. They reeled me in to start getting involved because I noticed their kindness, willingness to help someone like me (who didn't know anything), and what seemed to be a passion to really make Lazarus better. Within a few months of joining the forum and chat, I ran for Laz Developer and won! Unfortunately shortly after, my life was flipped around due to the pandemic and it left me without stable access to the internet for awhile. Luckily I am in a much better place now and my ability to focus on Lazarus and my ideas is better than ever! I've stayed in Lazarus because of the help I received when I was still trying to learn the game and the kindness of those here. I want to work with everyone who is willing to continue to spread that feeling to every person in the region! ^-^

My primary focus, if elected PM, will be to bring more people into the Lazarus community and get them working together as fast as possible. One thing that has been a little frustrating for me at times in Lazarus is the combination of the willingness to help make things better but lacking the support to get started. I want to try and bridge the gap between the people on the forum and chat and the thousands on the game. I believe there are relatively small things we can start doing consistently that will help us engage with the nations in Lazarus better and attract more people to participate. Though I have no experience working with other regions, I will try my best to organize events and activities with our friends and allies to also help this goal. Below is a list of some ideas I had in the past as LazDev, that I'd like to brainstorm further and start addressing as PM.

Just know this is a list of ideas and something to discuss with everyone else, not necessarily everything I am going to try to do (as some people might not want to!):

Polls

-We should alway have a poll up no matter what. Whether it's just silly or about something important going on in the region. They're there to use, so why not use them often?

-Get together a group of volunteers from the region on discord or the forum to help brainstorm poll ideas as a way to get people involved. Create our own group of pollsters basically. We can open this up to people who aren't shareholders too, as a way to get them involved and hopefully signed up as shareholders.

-Use polls to get general opinions about things like the government, legislation, themes, new ideas, etc.

RMB/WFE

-Establish and list a set of rules for people to follow when posting on the RMB aside from the game rules. This way there is an outline of what is acceptable or not in the region on the RMB (assuming we don't have that somewhere already). I don't think we have a lot of problems on the RMB, except for recently O.O, but it can't hurt!

- Think of different themes based on RL holidays (or just made up stuff in general) we can rotate in the region when it comes to colors/flags - this is another thing we could make a brainstorming group for.

-We could have a weekly question/discussion topic on the WFE

-We can try to make a day of the week a "joke day" where everyone posts jokes on the RMB together and make it a weekly thing. I've noticed some other regions do similar activities where different days of the week they do something on the RMB.

Contests

-Contests for making an original flag and if it wins most votes it could be up on the region for a certain amount of time

-Roleplay contests that are themed (specific scenarios/events people have to do)

-General art contests

-Dispatch contests based on specific themes that could also relate to roleplay.

Telegrams

-Make sure we're sending telegrams to the region regularly about things happening in the region (legislation, events, elections, etc.). I think this is the best way to advertise everything else we have to offer in the government to the nations in the region. If they aren't told about it, how will they know to sign up?

-Promote the discord chat, shareholder sign up, and the forum in every message we send whether it's related or not (basically make a format that includes these at the end of every message)

-Send telegrams for things that are just nice like holidays in RL. I think checking in with people on a more personal note can help a lot

-Send regular telegrams (maybe every other week?) encouraging people to join the WA and endorse people.

-We can try to get into a system of regularly timed telegrams so they aren't completely random. For instance, we can consistently send one out on Monday covering certain things and another one Friday for other things.

-We can work with different ministries for "advertisement telegrams" that we could send advertising why people should join to help and the opportunities to help the region

Roleplay

-Begin utilizing the map we have for roleplay

-Establish a set of basic rules for interacting/participating in roleplay in the region (if we dont have it already)

-Figure out if we want to host the roleplay on the RMB, discord chat, or forum

-How do we currently moderate roleplay in the region (if at all)

-Should we have an official application/prerequisites for roleplay (having to initially post an embassy posting on the forum for your nation or dispatch or something!)

-If we have people that are really good at roleplay, we can try to setup a system for newer people so it is easier for them to jump in - for example we can make guides on how to create a factbook that goes with our rules for RP.

World Assembly

-We can see if anyone has ideas for authoring resolutions

-Work with Tubbius to decide which way we should vote on resolutions, since we don't vote sometimes

I think as a region we should start slow and take baby steps to get to where we want to go. From what I've read in posts on the forum and talked to people on the chat, the biggest problem is that we don't have enough people and the people we do have don't have enough time to try to do it all themselves.

I think starting with small efforts to consistently engage the nations in the region will help us bring more people in. When we do get people on the Discord or forum, we should have a team of people dedicated to contacting them and helping them get started. I was lucky enough to have Imaginary help me with everything, but not everyone gets that sort of help! If elected, I want to really focus on bringing everyone together to focus on this issue so that we can really make a change. I might not know a lot about military or other regions, but I will try to surround myself with people who do know so that I can really focus on the region itself. I generally think we should be kind and make as many allies as possible and that the military seems like a great activity for people to get active in.

I know that's a lot....so if anyone has any questions feel free to ask! And vote Temmi! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Foreign Affairs?

Yes!

So like I said, I definitely want to immediately get to work on activities/events we can organize with our allies and friends in other regions that I think in turn will help our activity here. I want to surround myself with people who have served in our foreign affairs as well. I think we've been doing a good job with the Gazette and I want to continue to get it published on time and out to the rest of the world. I have been thinking of ways we can make it fancier too graphics wise! Beyond the gazette though, I think it will be important to keep our embassies updated with any relevant change in Lazarus. I notice we often get people from other regions posting on our RMB. We could even try some sort of cross-RMB/poll event with another region.

Ideally I want to help us make as many friends as possible and improve the relationship we have with our existing friends!

NPO?

Most of my knowledge on the situation comes from discussions in our Discord chat. I am in favor of ending the war we're in, as I think that will also help us focus internally. I think negotiating a sort of treaty or making it so that people from that region can't come here since they tried to harm us previously would be good (if we haven't already done that).

I think the situation we're in is serious, but that it is also a distraction that is pulling us away from trying to make Lazarus better. I don't think we should be aggressive or at war with anyone, if we can avoid it. I think we should focus on our positive relationships and not our negative ones.

Nice campaign. Real life got in the way of your developership, and anyone should of course prioritise their offline life over NS, so I'm not blaming you, but, especially with lots of ideas that you have, it would seem like an active PM would be necessary to see all those ideas tested. Obviously you can't predict the future, so if you have to leave, then you have to leave, but Lazarus will of course suffer without a PM. Will there be anything in place to mitigate a potential absence? Has whatever caused the absence been sorted? You don't need to go into any detail about the reason for your absence, just whether you now have the time to be PM.
I'm innocent and I'll prove it.

This message has been approved by the Parliament, the Telumasian Residence, and the Grand High Priest, whose approval is given only if the Gods have given their blessing to the words above.

May the Gods watch over us and may we run with Desonikas.

Definitely an understandable concern!

The situation is back to normal for me. I had lost my job because of the pandemic and my financial situation was not looking great. That's why I was gone and that is no longer an issue. I don't see me having any reason to take a leave of absence any time soon.

Good to see you’re back on your feet, Temmi.

Also cqn you expand more on the WA? Like do you want a WA ministry in the region?

I think having a dedicated ministry would be a good idea! I would like to see us be more active in the World Assembly and at the very least decide as a region how we want to vote on resolutions. If we have people that want to pursue writing resolutions, that'd be even better! ^-^

Even without a dedicated ministry, I think that we can start doing this by working with Tubbius to address new resolutions in the World Assembly and have discussions about them together.
