Flag Submission Criteria

File formatting requirements:
  • PNG or JPEG files
  • Must be at least 428x284 pixels in size
  • Submissions should ideally be rectangular to display suitably as a flag though this will not exclude a submission
  • No animated gifs are allowed as these have a reduced size
General requirements:
  • Flag backgrounds must be either: black, blue, green, red or orange.
  • Too bright colors that strain eyes will not be accepted to go to vote, such as extremely bright blue, green, red, yellow and so on
  • Animated gifs will not be put to vote, even though they may be posted during the competition for fun
  • Joke or silly flags will not be put to vote1, even though they may be posted during the competition for fun
  • To maintain general conventions for regional (or national) flags, the flags should not include words, excluding letters or symbols
  • Flags must meet the Acceptable Flag Policy
Theming requirements:
  • The flag may use images or characters from Greek mythology
  • The flag may use images or symbols from ancient or modern Greece, such as vases, Greek letters, and so on
  • There is no set style for phoenixes however, so these are mostly all permitted
  • The flag may not use the phoenix image of the Greek military junta or otherwise fascist imagery
  • The flag may include Greek letters and symbols, though these are not expected or required
Copyright requirements:
  • If you spot a concept you like, you can trace it, but flags that are clearly copy/pasted off other websites or a web search with no edits will not be permitted to go to vote.
  • Do not use an obviously copyrighted work, as if we were to use the flag officially this could be removed from the site.
Recommendations:
  • Ideally two flags should be submitted by each entry, a general flag and a regional guard (or war flag), though this is not required.
  • Ask other residents first, if you are unsure about the quality of your flag, as the criteria panel only exists to determine quality based on specific criteria.
Submissions for those without a forum account may be delivered via telegram via an imgur link to Extrememeasures or New Rogernomics.

1. These include popular culture references such as from tv shows or movies and animated cartoons.

Selection panel

The selection panel shall be asked with determining whether the flag submission criteria have been reached.

This selection panel shall include: Treadwellia, Ellenburg (Extrememeasures), Ryccia, Frankender, New Rogernomics

If one or more of a submission don't reach requirements, one or more of these panel members will contact you via telegram or in the designated thread.

Submissions that don't meet criteria will be marked as such so that time is given to alter a submission.

Some panel members may be focused on judging specific criteria, while others might judge them all.

Flag competition schedule

No further submissions or edits will be allowed after 09/07/22.

Submission period: 08/22/22 - 09/07/22 Closed
Round 1 Voting period (Semi-Finals): 09/09/22 - 09/13/22 Closed
Round 2 Voting period (Finals): 09/14/22 - 09/18/22

Voting period

Voters shall be required to have a nation resident in Lazarus in order to vote.

Votes without using a forum account may be delivered via telegram to Extrememeasures or New Rogernomics

Votes shall be ranked by choice, with a semi-final and then a final vote tallied based off these votes.

Officiating

The flags that win the vote will be proposed in the Ekklesia (Assembly) to become the official flags of Lazarus.

This will only be proposed after the voting period has ended so that the winning flags may be placed in this legislation.
