With Ryccia’s resignation yesterday, I think it’s evident that we should open up the court a bit more or at least allow someone to temporarily serve as Justice in the event of a third being gone (e.g. the Vice Delegate).

I’m not sure if anyone is being put forward for a judgeship right now, but it’s apparent the slot needs filled.

Ryccia served admirably as Justice for quite some time now, however with yet another Justice gone we need to potentially re-evaluate this troubling court situation.

Allowing any member of the delegacy to temporarily serve as a justice would destroy the separation of powers

I would not be for anyone to serve on the court who has not been confirmed by the assembly

The Vice-Delegacy, is a security postition, and there is no "separation of powers" to be broken as it is a non-political, and non-executive position. The only power the Delegate has over the Vice-Delegate is over CLS votes, and any citizen, including the Delegate, can recall the VD. Currently such an appointment would have to be approved by the Assembly though.

The Delegate themselves would be a different issue, as they actually handle some appointments, and have some level of executive authority as far as the head of the military.

As it stands though, we have no shortage of applications to fill the court. So the question of the Vice-Delegate being a Court Justice is really speculative at this point, and not really required. The current one is obviously not applying.

My opinion still stands
The Assembly disagreed and passed the amendment, so it is allowed. I don't see any plausible instances when a VD could be "compromised" as a position.

The assembly passed an amendment allowing the delagacy to temporarily serve on the court without being approved by the assembly?

The assembly passed an amendment allowing the Vice-Delegate to serve on the Court, after being approved by the assembly:
(2) Justices will serve until resignation, removal from office by the Assembly, or automatic removal from office. While serving, Justices may not serve in any other office but Councillor of Council on Lazarene Security, Vice Delegate, or Deputy Minister.
Minor political positions, and non-political positions can be held at the same as being a Court Justice.

Ok, thank you, so my first point is certainly moot then. I am not in favor of anyone serving without being confirmed, however
