My justification is that a return to the people's republic in theme would allow us to expand our culture through roleplay. I think it would be very fun for us to pretend to be communists again and launch our endless war against the airgangsters. This allows us to have more culture without changing anything in our constitution

Upon further consideration I am against this. The PRL was a time where Lazarus was a puppet of a foreign power, that is not a time we should be celebrating by associating our region with a name was synonymous with the region's enslavement to a foreign power.
Well, I think it would have major FA implications, as I've stated in discord. It also needed dedicated RPers, so it isn't exactly resolving the issue of activity, as you still have to find RPers to make it work, and if you don't it is back to square one because LazCorp has the same sorts of arguments from the other side i.e. that it is too capitalist, and too hard of a theme. Same sorts of arguments over "communism scares people away", would take place instead, which might be more valid depending on who you ask - as the majority of the world is capitalist at least in practice, and not every communist regime is well liked IRL.

I don't think the proposal as it is would realistically pass but it did lead to interesting debates.
A lot of ideas have been proposed to the point that there may be too many to stick with one right away.
I do dislike the FA implications though (Notably the idea of foreign influence, I didn't really knew about it similarly to Wym').

We'll probably have a lot of debates surrounding potential regional themes and we should probably not rush a theme to a vote.

From an FA perspective, this is not a good idea. The PRL has a historic and political context which is not at all aligned with our current political position or aims. To bring it back would be a bad PR move, and is certainly a weird turn when one looks at our history.

From a personal perspective, this feels a lot like it's just the same as we've tried before. "Hey, we're inactive, let's change to a new theme!", which unsurprisingly fixed no problems whatsoever and just kicked the same problem down the road. The variant here, which is "Hey, we were active when Milo ran things with NPO members, so we must go back to that", which is still silly. Because it worked for a different governments, different leaders and different communities doesn't mean it fixes any of our basic problems.

I think a different theme which allows us to expand our culture and foster an active RP community is not a bad idea, and it's certainly worth a try. The PRL is, however, due to its historic and cultural connotations, not that theme as far as I'm concerned. A new theme that interests all must be chosen, yes, but if and when we do choose it we will need a clear direction we want to move in - simply relying on the theme change to fix the problems for us would be to condemn ourselves to the same cycle of decline -> new theme -> decline that we have found ourselves in in the past.

I'm against for the reasons stated in Discord and above.
