Repeal of Treaty of Libertia and Pie, and Passing of the Luminous Accords by JayDee II

Where one door closes, another one opens. After the Union of Democratic States (UDS) announced the closure of their In-Character (IC) Government, UDS and Europeia agreed to the termination of the Treaty of Libertia and Pie, which acknowledged the mutual friendship of both regions. The representatives from UDS and Europeia expressed that the termination of relations was on amicable grounds, but the decision to close relations was based on UDS’s inability to fulfill some of its obligations due to the lack of a government. However, both regions remain in good standing with one another.

Shortly before that, President Grea Kriopia presented The Luminous Accords between the Plains of Perdition (tPoP) and Europeia, confirming the budding relations between the new GCR and the old UCR. The treaty confirms what many suspected would be inevitable, since Europeia’s Navy played a crucial role in Rhaza’s (AKA Quebecshire) rise to the Delegacy. The President issued a joint statement expressing excitement on the new treaty. “We are thrilled to formalize this cooperation in a new treaty and look forward to our regions' continued support of one another well into the future.”

Establishing the Order of the Muses by United Vietussia

The Europeian Senate recently passed the Medals Amendment, expanding the Awards and Honors Act by introducing a new medal: the Order of the Muses. First proposed by Gem in the People’s Assembly, the Order of the Muses is intended to honor “individuals who have provided outstanding service to Europeia through the creation of high-quality graphics, banners, and other artistic endeavors”. In introducing the amendment, Gem also noted the contributions of President Grea Kriopia in crafting the new award.

During deliberation over the amendment, Grea Kriopia emphasized that “the ways in which Europeians contribute to the region continue to evolve and graphic/artistic contributions are a unique skill set well worth recognizing”. After passing through the People’s Assembly a 10-1 vote, the Senate passed the amendment in a unanimous 7-0 vote. The amendment also introduced a new design for the Order of Dedication, awarded to “individuals who have been seen to go above and beyond the normal calls of service in the Government”.

Presidential Election! by Amalteia

Europeia wakes once more to a new day, in a new term, as the February/March 2025 Europeian Presidential Elections conclude. The result is clear: the dynamic duo of Grea Kriopia and Sincluda is here to stay. Having earned the trust and confidence of 87.7 % of the votes, re-opening elections (ROE) was deemed unnecessary by a crushing majority of the voter base.

The total number of votes cast in this election was fifty-eight, sixteen less votes than in the previous December 2024 Europeian Presidential Elections. The election itself was uncontested, with Grea Kriopia and Sincluda running unopposed. While this assured their victory, this was potentially a direct cause to the lower voter turnout compared to the previous election. Without competition, some voters may have felt less urgency to cast their ballots, leading to a smaller, but nonetheless decisive, result.

The duo’s campaign was constructed around a bold, fair and novel vision, at least for the region: embracing Europeia’s identity as the largest Frontier in NationStates. Their platform took inspiration from the Hunger Games, and aimed to both prove and improve Europeia’s position as the dominant and model Frontier on the site. Similarly to how tributes in the games must adapt, forge alliances, and leverage their unique strengths to survive, so too will Europeia innovate and set the standard for this new era of “Frontierism”. In this spirit, their Frontier-focussed policies were designed to ensure Europeia doesn’t merely survive but thrives. For example, one of their flagship initiatives, FrontierFest, aims to unite Frontiers in a grand interregional gathering to encourage Frontiers to act together, united. The ADAPT Protocol, another pillar of their platform, represents a long-term tech project which aims to revolutionise integration and culture within the region.

Meanwhile, GK and Sin’s foreign affairs approach seeks to solidify Europeia’s alliances, establish it as a leading voice among Frontiers, and keep the region ahead of the game in this regard. In terms of culture, our navy, and outreach, much of their vision is to rekindle activity and motivation around operations, recruitment, and events of all sorts.

The People is Busy in the People’s Assembly by Lunar Remnants

The People's Assembly of Europeia was busy last month. As a place for any Europeian citizen to get involved in legislation, the Assembly passed a bill, partook in a number of discussions, and elected a new Chair.

Newly elected People's Assembly Chair Lunar Remnants (m88youngling) oversaw the completion of a vote to pass the Medals Amendment, which added a new award to celebrate individuals who have made significant artistic contributions to Europeia. The pre-legislation was passed by the Senate and the bill has been brought before the President for consideration.

The People's Assembly soon expects to deliberate on a few in-process drafts written by its new Chair. One resolution regards web accessibility standards, while another would condemn abuses of voter privacy.

Culture Highlight: Let the Games Begin

In February, Euro revived a long-beloved game series called the Hunger Games which has made rounds around NationStates as a popular culture event. The event uses a website simulator to run a hypothetical Hunger Games event complete with two tributes from each of the 12 districts. Participants can choose their name, appearance, and district before fighting to the death with often comical endings and witty commentary along the way. Euro has deeply enjoyed the Hunger Games series since 2015 so the region was delighted to see first-time Minister of Culture Spuzz City revive the event after the topic resurfaced in casual conversation. Imagine the region's surprise when the first Hunger Games event was won by none other than Spuzz herself, triggering instant calls for a dramatic rematch! Expect to see more Hunger Games in Euro's future and feel free to come play yourself.

Exciting Executive Elections End by Amalteia

In our July elections, Andy and SkyGreen (Sky) have been elected to lead Euro with a strong 40-24 victory over Gem/JayDee II, completely defying the EBC’s late polling that suggested there would be a close race between the tickets. Their “Paving Paths” platform, which focused on the daring Sister Stronghold plan to boost recruitment and WA influence, became the centre of attention of the election’s discourse as their campaign drew support over time, little by little. However, polling showed how the ticket’s recent executive experience and the trust Andy/Sky had gained in the region were the most important factor in their success. Outgoing President Southwestern Germany congratulated the winners, and expressed complete confidence in their leadership for the next 60 days. After the results, President Andy and Vice President Sky appeared on EBC Radio alongside former President Grea Kriopia to announce their new Cabinet, which mixes familiar names with new voices. The appointments included Malaxa (Outreach), Amalteia (WAA), Lloenflys (Attorney General), Gem (Interior), and Grea Kriopia herself (Foreign Affairs), which needless to say set the stage for an exciting term ahead!

Another Three Commends to Europeia by Amalteia

In July 2025, Europeia marked one of its most remarkable streaks in World Assembly Security Council history, with three commendations recognising the extraordinary contributions of Pland Adanna, Malashaan Colony (Mal), and Common-Sense Politics (CSP) passed in just over two weeks. These resolutions were authored by Gem, Amalteia, and Emodea (Moon) respectively, who decided to take up the mantle for some resolutions that had been in the research or drafting phase for a long time. Pland Adanna was commended for their leadership across multiple ministries, steadying the ship in difficult times, and charting a future of cultural excellence by organising events, launching the This Week in Europeia News! dispatches, and more. On the other hand, Mal was commended for her legacy of leadership across the Executive, authorship in the Senate, contributions that shaped our legal (repealing obsolete legislation), cultural (creating the EuroPride festival), and foreign affairs (treaty with the UDS and setting up interregional events) sphere. Finally, CSP was commended for his unmatched feats as President, his transformation of our regional military that made us become leading voices in the independent sphere, and his bold initiatives in times of crisis and conflict. Together, these commendations—each passing with well over 80% support—prove not only the three nominees’ talent, but our region’s ability to both cultivate a citizenry of innovating leaders and a citizenry of engaged SC authors.

Sister Stronghold Progress So Far by Southwestern Germany

After emerging victorious in the presidential election campaigning on the Sister Stronghold proposal, President Andy announced the formation of the Presidential Commission on Preparations for the Sister Stronghold on July 21st via Executive Order 105. As per the Executive Order, the Commission comprises the President, the Vice President, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Grand Admiral, the Minister of Outreach, the Minister of Interior, the Attorney General, the World Assembly Delegate, the Technical Architect, the Vice Delegate, the Director of the Europeian Intelligence Agency, the Chief Administrator, and advisors hand-picked by the President himself. This commission can produce reports and documents guiding the region’s preparation for developing a sister stronghold, which will be provided to the President and disclosed to all Europeian citizens for public deliberations.

President Andy had a dropbox open for citizens to suggest names for the new region which the commission would use to help finalize what names the citizenry should vote on. On July 31st, President Andusre announced a poll for the stronghold’s name to be held open for 72 hours which had the options “Estalcia” and “City of Arnhelm”. Estalcia was previously founded in August 2007 with the intention that it would serve as Europeia's colony and the City of Arnhelm which according to lore, is the capital city of Europeia. With 38 citizens coming out to vote, Estancia was victorious with 63.2% of the vote. It remains to be seen what will be the next step of the president and his commission.

September Presidential Election Brings Skygreen to Top Role by Southwestern Germany

Outgoing President Andusre and Vice President SkyGreen won re-election on Saturday in a flipped ticket, with SkyGreen now rising to the role of President and Andusre taking on the duties of the Vice President. Their re-election was hard-earned as 34 voters (52%) voted to re-elect the pair, while 31 voters voted to reopen elections. Asked by the EBC about his impression of the election results, President SkyGreen remarked, "It was quite the intense election, and I recognize that this reflects the passion of our citizens who deeply care about our Republic and its future. As I step into the role, I hope to take this energy from the campaign and channel it into a term that will make people say 'I think Sky did good'." The ticket brings a wealth of experience into their second term in Goldenblock Manor. Besides their most recent term, between the two, they have led every ministry in Europeia’s executive government. Their platform for this coming term focuses largely on continuing to develop Europeia’s new sister region, Estalcia.

ERN Participates in Historic Operation Lady Liberty by Grea Kriopia

On September 22nd, 7 sailors of the Europeian Republican Navy (ERN) participated in historic Operation Lady Liberty, breaking records as the largest ever coalition of updaters assembled in NS history. The operation sought to free Liberty Island from a raider coalition led by The Black Hawks who infiltrated the community and held the region with 88 endorsements. In response, a coalition force of 169 liberators jumped into the region, smashing the raider force and previous records in short order. The victory came in spite of efforts by the invading raider force to control a bend region right before Liberty Island that would have allowed the raiders to ruin the liberating forces’ trigger – Only for liberating forces to find a bend region of their own right between Liberty Islands and the raiders’ bend region. The dramatic problem-solving enabled defending forces to enter the region untroubled and raiders were quickly sent on their way.

Legislative Update by Emodea

September proved to be a busy month for the Senate, as seven different bills were debated by our Senators. These were LinkSister Region Citizenship Act Amendment (2025), LinkClarifying Referenda Act (2025), LinkOops, We Missed One Amendment (2025), LinkOAG Tweaks Amendment (2025), LinkEstalcia Day Amendment (2025), LinkResolution Recognizing Nethelism (2025)and LinkThe Republic Omnibus Act (2025). All bills were passed by the Senate and signed into law by Presidents Andusre and SkyGreen.

Of particular note was the non-binding resolution recognizing Nethelism, one of the two prevalent regions in the Republic, which was passed despite objections from Senator Pichvi (who proclaimed his support for the schismatic Donkeyism). A Linkprank standing for the most recent Senate election from UPC on behalf of Grandfather Clock also saw the introduction of the LinkConsensual Standing Act, which aimed to prevent any further shenanigans like that and passed unanimously at the beginning of September.

Osiris Sanctioned By the MGC by Grea Kriopia

On October 23rd, the Modern Gameplay Compact (MGC) announced that its sanctions targeting those who have engaged in aggression toward MGC member regions would now be applied to Osiris. The revised sanctions follow the demise of the Brotherhood of Malice (BoM) and look ahead to what may come next, including efforts to rehabilitate BoM figures within other regions or perpetuate BoM’s ideology elsewhere. As outlined by the MGC, Osiris has long supported BoM’s hostile acts, and many key BoM figures have held overlapping roles in the Osiran regime.

Estalcia Continues to Grow by Ervald

Since the last update, Ervald has been confirmed as the World Delegate of Estalcia and has reached the milestone of 30 endorsements with a regional population of almost 170 nations. Due to ambiguity surrounding the WAD of Estalcia, the Regional Security Omnibus has been introduced to the Senate to clarify the role and powers of the Regional Security Council when it comes to sister regions such as Estalcia. Additionally, multiple candidates that ran in the November Senate election indicted interest in formalizing the role of the WAD of Estalcia into law.

The Outback and Perdition Join the MGC by Grea Kriopia

In quick succession with other MGC news, both The Outback and Perdition joined the MGC on October 26th, bringing the total membership of the MGC to eight. Their ascension to the MGC came as little surprise as both regions are seen as ideologically similar to many other MGC regions and have multiple overlapping allies within the organization. Both The Outback and Perdition bring a wealth of foreign affairs might and other assets to the MGC’s prosperous community.

Europeia Celebrates Commendation Day by Grea Kriopia

October 22nd marked Commendation Day for Europeia, celebrating the passage of Europeia’s first regional commendation prior to its replacement with a second iteration. Culture Minister Gem led the festivities with a competitive series of events where two teams battled, the Faction of Honor fighting for a second Euro commendation and the Faction of Shame fighting for a Euro condemnation. Events included a six-word story contest, game night, blame game, and music recommendations. Ultimately, the Faction of Shame won out in the competition and plans to issue Euro a condemnation mysteriously disappeared after the conclusion of the festivities.
