I cannot claim to believe either party without analyzing the evidence in detail and investigating further. Since it was so long ago and due to the hyperpartisan atmosphere surrounding this event, I believe it is improbable that a definitive conclusion can be reached. I shall say this, however: at the very least in what concerns the law, we must believe in the principle of innocence before guilt is proven, or else the very concept of justice in our modern world shall collapse.

By a strict interpretation of the law, what he was accused of was past the statute of limitations. The accuser also failed to provide sufficient evidence for even a civil suit, and the story she put forward was confused. Essentially, there was no way to find him guilty, and in the US legal system that effectively makes him innocent, as there is no "not proven" verdict under that system, and the statute is well past.
