Hence, I hereby request that this assembly debate and vote on a repeal of the declaration of war on the NPO. In my campaign thread for PM, I stated that "We are fighting a pointless war against a region that attacked us eons ago, who now have a new, less warmongering administration, especially when allies such as Osiris have already called for an armistice". I believe the assembly should revisit the topic of war with the NPO.

Some of these thoughts you have heard before; some may be entirely new. Please take these thoughts into consideration as you ponder what you think the right choice for Lazarus is.

For many years, the New Pacific Order has been a constant thorn in our side, its officials incessantly seeking to undermine us and our sovereignty. We would not be alone in this war either, but rather standing alongside our sister sinker Osiris and several other regions that have already declared war. It would finally allow us to pay back some of the pain that we have endured at their hands for years and show them that they cannot fool with us any longer or take advantage.

Furthermore, the social and economic benefits of a war abroad cannot be understated. Such a big unified goal will bring our citizenry closer together, acting and fighting side-by-side. Our residents will be engaged and motivated to participate in defence and patriotism for their region, which will surely prompt many of them to participate in ways they had otherwise been wary of. Without a doubt, engaging in this war will be a boon to our unity and our activity.

On the other hand, while we weren't formally at war, this region has been warred over for much of the past three years, if not longer. We are more stable than we have ever been in recent memory. A war threatens that stability. We would have to create a military again, with all the implications attached that have previously led us to eschew such an institution. The war will also make us a target once more. The New Pacific Order has seemingly left us alone after the installation of Mandate 12, finally; the transgressions that had been revealed predate the Anarchy Week back in April. By declaring war on them, we, in turn, become fair game to their machinations once more, and also to any region that might ally itself with the New Pacific Order.

Participating in this war would also bring up ugly memories of the fighting we've had here at home, both against foreigners and against each other; the returning weariness of Lazarenes from years past cannot be papered over by swift and glorious victories, because a war against the New Pacific Order must inherently be a war of attrition, long and arduous, and there is no consensus on whether such a war can be won at all.

Last but not least, it's a question of identity. Who are we? Are we warriors seeking to enact revenge upon those that have slighted us, or do we let bygones be bygones and concentrate on us and what makes us special? Do we reject the New Pacific Order's obviously begrudging attempts to meet our demands, or do we hold our word and accept that they have met our terms? Which kind of Lazarus do we want to be?

Fellow citizens, I do apologise for the heavy burden I am laying on you with this decision, but we feel at the same time that it is too important for us to simply order by fiat. The consequences of this decision will immeasurably shape the future of Lazarus in the years to come, and so we urge you with all of our conviction that you think about this rationally and with care. Foreign Affairs:
I think we should have a vote on the war with the NPO. As I have been calling for, for months. I personally think it would be best to end it.

I think that we should not add any new embassies, as we are currently understaffed in the FA department. However, I think that we should look to take some of our relationships to the next level, with new NAPs and/or Mutal Defense Treaties.

This goes with what I mentioned above, I think that we should seek some new faces in the FA department. As it's been a long time since a lasting newcomer has appeared.
Internal Affairs:
We should do some events with other regions. 

We should expand our Cards Guild if we can find the personnel.

Perhaps we could do some game nights with the region. Alongside this, we should do a contest. 

World Assembly Affairs:
It would be nice to have an active World Assembly Department but this is not a priority In my mind. This is because we lack the player base to do so.

Military Affairs:
The Guard has been doing pretty fine these last few months, so we should continue that.

Conclusion
I think the main recurring trend in Lazarus is the lack of activity, off-site. To fix this we need to get more people on-site, and with that, our problems can be solved. My main goal would be that. The rest comes with it.[/align]]]> General election (February 2021) - Dom's campaign thread

   I’ll be frank: Lazarus has not been at its best lately. The region has been stagnating for a while with a lot of inactivity. For example, our PR Director’s main nation ceased to exist for over a month. Citizenship activities have been sitting without a response in the applications subforum for weeks on end. I don’t have to explain why this level of inactivity is bad for the region as a whole. I will however not blame our current and previous governments, and instead commend them for their efforts in holding the line despite being burnt out and weary.

   Without further ado, here are my intended goals to achieve during my term:

 Shareholdership

   Currently, we have a department for accepting shareholders. Even with such a simple job, it has failed miserably at it. I will immediately close down this department and form an expanded department titled ‘Department of Recruitment’. This will deal with mass recruitment for shareholdership and various departments through telegrams or the RMB, and integrating new people into the region, in addition to the duties of accepting and rejecting shareholdership.

 Foreign Affairs

   To start, I would like to disclose that one of the first things I will do as Managing Director would be to call for an end to the war with the NPO. We are fighting a pointless war against a region that attacked us eons ago, who now have a new, less warmongering administration, especially when allies such as Osiris have already called for an armistice. Whether we open our arms and embrace new citizens from the NPO or have a cold war for a while will be up to the shareholders.

     Next, I would like to forge treaties with several regions, namely The Rejected Realms and The East Pacific. I find that having treaties with these regions, as well as any others we may see fit, will be very beneficial to ensuring a sustained PR presence and interregional activity. I will work with the PR Director on the finer details of these treaties.

   Lastly, ambassadors. Like for every department, we will need to have a massive recruitment drive for new ambassadors. Currently, we only have 5 ambassadors representing our region internationally, and two regions don’t have ambassadors posted to them, including The North Pacific whom we have a treaty with and that is unacceptable. I will also have the Internal Management work with PR to create foreign updates which will be disseminated in regions. Which brings me on to my next point...

 Internal Management

   New Rogernomics had great plans for the Internal Management under the Temmi administration, which included regular gazette publications and more sustained RP activity. Therefore, I hope he will return to the position of Director of Internal Management, or if he does not wish to have the position I hope (and I am sure) he will share his plans with the next Director.

 The Guard

   The Guard is tricky. It is hard to get out of first gear when we have many restrictions on what we can and cannot do. Therefore, I will not promise a lot of activity. Rather, jo and I will recruit new members and develop training guides, as well as do some organisational restructuring, so we can have a good foundation for the future.

 Long Term Goals

   If my first term is a success, it will hopefully pave the way for future expansions and plans, such as:

 A World Assembly department, if there is enough interest.

 Organising regional festivals or contests.

 Participation and maybe even organisation of interregional festivals and contests.

 ‘War Games’ with our military and others.

   Lastly, ambassadors. Like for every department, we will need to have a massive recruitment drive for new ambassadors. Currently, we only have 5 ambassadors representing our region internationally, and two regions don’t have ambassadors posted to them, including The North Pacific whom we have a treaty with and that is unacceptable. I will also have the Internal Management work with PR to create foreign updates which will be disseminated in regions. Which brings me on to my next point...

 Internal Management

   New Rogernomics had great plans for the Internal Management under the Temmi administration, which included regular gazette publications and more sustained RP activity. Therefore, I hope he will return to the position of Director of Internal Management, or if he does not wish to have the position I hope (and I am sure) he will share his plans with the next Director.

 The Guard

   The Guard is tricky. It is hard to get out of first gear when we have many restrictions on what we can and cannot do. Therefore, I will not promise a lot of activity. Rather, jo and I will recruit new members and develop training guides, as well as do some organisational restructuring, so we can have a good foundation for the future.

 Long Term Goals

   If my first term is a success, it will hopefully pave the way for future expansions and plans, such as:

 A World Assembly department, if there is enough interest.

 Organising regional festivals or contests.

 Participation and maybe even organisation of interregional festivals and contests.

 ‘War Games’ with our military and others.
