[Discussion] Reconfirmation votes - Amerion - 09-28-2018 I would like to open a discussion on the possibility of reconfirmation votes for every position with the exception of the Delegate and Vice Delegate. This would cover the Speaker, Ministers, and the Justices. I imagine we would do this not on a regular basis but periodically. Say every 4 or 6 months. If we were to proceed, it would be advisable to spread out the reconfirmation votes so that not every position is going up to vote at once. Thoughts? RE: [Discussion] Reconfirmation votes - Cormac - 09-28-2018 As others have also said on Discord, I'm not sure we're ready for this as a region. It may be premature. That said, if we do it, I think reconfirmation votes should be six months, not any less. RE: [Discussion] Reconfirmation votes - Amerion - 09-28-2018 If this were to occur, I intend on pursuing a resolution stating that the first reconfirmation votes will occur in January 2019, at earliest. If we are not ready by then, I will be sorely disappointed in our government. RE: [Discussion] Reconfirmation votes - New Rogernomics - 09-28-2018 Quote:(4) Cabinet Ministers will serve until resignation, removal from office by the Assembly or the Delegate, or automatic removal from office. This could run in conflict with this part of the mandate, so it will have to be worded carefully. Essentially with the following included it would have no such risk: The Delegate must assent to a re-confirmation vote. RE: [Discussion] Reconfirmation votes - Amerion - 09-28-2018 It may have to be a Constitutional Amendment. RE: [Discussion] Reconfirmation votes - Cormac - 09-28-2018 It would definitely have to be a constitutional amendment, in my view. RE: [Discussion] Reconfirmation votes - Amerion - 09-28-2018 I would like to note that I no longer have an intention to pursue such an act/amendment after discussing this with New Rogernomics and Cormac on Discord. |
