The League's Defense Forces Foreign Report
Authored by Quebecshire and New Makasta.

The League's Defense Forces have had a strong month of activity. We welcomed two new members into our ranks and two former members returned to service. Currently, The League's Defense Forces maintain fourteen members, ten of whom are active duty, and four reserves members.

The LDF has maintained a strong presence in Libcord throughout the month in standard defensive and detagging operations alongside our partner military forces. Additionally, the LDF conducted a variety of training operations in chasing, triggering, and movement at times when raiding activity was slow.

Regarding matters off the battlefield, the LDF supported two of our embassy regions in their domestic World Assembly Delegate transitions. The LDF aided in securing The Atlae Isles position as the elected Delegate of The East Pacific and is currently deployed in The Free Nations Region to ensure the stability of the transition of their delegacy to Thaelle.

While raiding over the last month has not been exceedingly active, The League's Defense Forces took part in what was likely the most notable operation of the month, that being the raid and subsequent liberation of Nasunia. Given the subversive techniques by which the raid was accomplished, we are pleased to report our involvement in the liberation of the region and the expulsion of raiding forces.

The primary LDF Command apparatus at the time of this report is as follows,
Consulate Foreign Report
Authored by Creeperopolis and Paleocacher.

Terranihil resigned as Chief Consul of the Republic on 26 July 2021 and he was succeeded, both as Consul and Chief Consul, by Creeperopolis, the then Director of Foreign Affairs of The League.

The Constitution Republic of Zion was nominated and confirmed as Speaker of the Council for a second term on 14 July 2021. Spode Humbled Minions was appointed to serve as Director of Foreign Affairs on 26 July 2021.

The Office of the Consulate at the time of this report is as follows,
Council Foreign Report
Authored by The Constitutional Republic of Zion.

On 2 July, the Council of the Republic voted for the region to sign the 8 July Accords in an unofficial vote. As The League’s constitution has no de jure mechanism for treaty ratification, the Consulate asked for an advice and consent vote from the Council. The treaty was unanimously approved by the sitting Council, allowing the executive government to move forward with ratification

The July nominations for Council ended with seven Leaguer citizens nominated to each serve two months in the Council. The nominees were Creeperopolis, DinoNet, New Makasta, Protocol Rendezvous, Spode Humbled Minions, The Constitutional Republic of Zion, and The New Fandom Republic. The nominees were confirmed in a poll open to all citizens of The League. Six citizens voted in favor of confirming the nominees and only one voted against confirmation.

Following a Council discussion on 26 June, the Consulate, with Council consensus, removed the internal voting process for the Speaker of the Council and changed it to a nomination-confirmation appointment process. On 14 July, the Consulate nominated The Constitutional Republic of Zion to his first full term as Speaker of the Council. The Constitutional Republic of Zion accepted the nomination and was confirmed unanimously by the Council.

Following Terranihil’s resignation as Chief Consul, the Council was convened to provide advice on future appointments to fill government positions. Once the resignation was official, the Speaker of the Council The Constitutional Republic of Zion issued a “resounding thanks” to the former Chief Consul and congratulated the new Chief Consul Creeperopolis and the new Director of Foreign Affairs Spode Humbled Minions through a statement in The League’s official government channel.

The Council of the Republic will have its mid-cycle nominations from early to mid-August, with the potential for new members to join the legislature for the remainder of this term.

The Speaker of the Council at the time of this report is The Constitutional Republic of Zion.

Thanks for the update, Quebec! Lots of good stuff going on :D

Since the last report, The League's Defense Forces have been hard at work acomplishing our mission across NationStates.

Since our last report, LDF members have attended 62 Libcord updates and 1 update alongside NationStates Antifa. Libcord work has included typical defensive operations (including the sieges and liberations of Chaylia and Liberal Democratic Union), and in regards to anti-fascist work, LDF members attended the raid of New Western Atlantic, and will contribution to the destruction of the region primarily through Blardillen, an activated sleeper nation of Consul Quebecshire.

Presently, the LDF contains 8 active duty members and 8 reserve members. Our highest density of updaters in recent time occurred at the second liberation attempt of the LDU, an operation attended by 9 LDF members.

Off-update work included aiding in the stabilization of Chaylia and the LDU through cooperation with their native governments.

Lastly, the LDF announced sanctions against the Joint Task Force on August 30th, an action also done by the Thaecian and East Pacifican governments. Since then, the JTF has been effectively decommissioned.

Promotions from the last month included Iandrul to the rank of Sergeant and The Tirol Region to the rank of Corporal.

In addition to overseeing typical mid-term Council nominations, the Office of the Consulate moved to bring The League into the Partnership for Sovereignty. Additionally, the Consulate and Department of Foreign Affairs published a joint statement with 10000 Islands on the anticipated fronters and strongholds update.

The Office of the Consulate at the time of this report is as follows,
Council Foreign Report
Authored by The Constitutional Republic of Zion.

On August 12th, the Council’s mid-term nomination cycle ended with Terranihil, Chief Consul Emeritus, being nominated and confirmed to serve on the Council for the remainder of the term. On 16 August, the Council was asked by the Consulate to hold an advice and consent vote to ratify the Partnership for Sovereignty charter after The League was accepted into the organization. As The League has no official mechanism for treaty ratification, the vote was unofficial and used to collect the opinions of the Council’s members. The Council voted unanimously to recommend the ratification of the Partnership for Sovereignty Charter.

The Council also hosted a discussion on which delegates should be sent to represent The League at the Partnership for Sovereignty. Several Council Delegates made recommendations that contributed to the Consulate’s final decision. The current cycle for Council member terms will end on 14 September, resulting in nominations for the upcoming term.

The Speaker of the Council at the time of this report is The Constitutional Republic of Zion.

The LDF this month continued to see growth welcoming in two new members into its ranks; currently the LDF maintains 17 members, nine members in active duty and eight in reserves.

Throughout the month of September there has been a decrease in raider activity allowing the LDF to participate in less defensive and detag operations. Furthermore the LDF has participated in the unsuccessful siege attempts upon The Union of Rightwing Nations, which has been held by a coalition of raider and independent forces.

Regular LDF record keeping will soon move fully offsite, split between an overview on our wiki and more detailed statistics on our new subforum, named the Andrew Du Center for Military Excellence.

The XIV session of the Council of the Republic has started and DinoNet has been appointed as the 4th Speaker of the Council. Her service as a Council Delegate for many months as well as Colonel of the LDF made her an easy choice for the appointment.

The Treaty of Sarpedos with Thaceia was negotiated by a delegation of Leaguers assigned by the Consulate, including Quebecshire, Spode Humbled Minions, New Makasta, and Amaan land. It was ratified on 24 September.

On 14 September, the nomination cycle for the Council ended. Ajakanistan, DinoNet, New Makasta, and Protocol Rendezvous were all nominated and accepted to serve their term on the Council. Furthermore, DinoNet became the 4th Speaker of the Council as The Constitutional Republic of Zion stepped down from the position after 112 days. We would like to thank Zion for his service as well as welcome Ajakanistan for his first term on the Council.

The LDF has had an incredible month in both activity and power projection. Currently including 19 members (3 officers, 9 enlisted, 7 reserve), we have grown and gained several new members. In addition to people joining the force, both Paleocacher and East Yourtanad have been promoted from Private to Corporal for their service.

To get into specific operations, the LDF kicked off the month by organizing, coordinating, and executing a multilateral liberation of Warzone Europe which was invaded by a coalition of independent and raider forces. 8 LDF members attended the single update liberation. The LDF published a gameplay report on the operation here.

Soon after, the LDF broke an organization turnout record in Trovons, where 15 LDF members fought across 4 updates to liberate the region from invaders. This operation was particularly notable because invaders once again let their mask slip, showing their true colors as they banned the native Founder from their own region in their attempt to maintain illegitimate control over a region they had no business being in to begin with.

Changing course to offensive action, the LDF once again demonstrated its ability to lead interregional operations with Operation Pacifists of Tyranny, where it led an invasion on Army of Freedom. Being a long term occupation, this operation remains underway but has made great progress, especially thanks to our friends in the New Pacific Order. The report on the initial invasion can be found here.

Last but certainly not least for the month, the LDF participated in the liberations of The New Order Last Days of Europe. The LDF, over two updates, tied its operational turnout record with 15 unique updaters of both active duty, reserve, and civilian origin. The region was liberated twice with 9 updaters attending each liberation due to technical failings on the part of NationStates.

The League’s Defense Forces (LDF) have had another month of incredible activity. Earlier in the month we concluded our longest offensive operation with the refounding of Army of Freedom. We once again thank our allies and other partners for their support in this operation.

A couple of weeks later we assisted in the liberation of China, during which we shattered both our single update and operation records with 13 updaters at the first siege and 20 overall. LDF command took active leadership roles in the liberation, as well.

Most recently we participated in a series of defenses of several regions, including our now-allies in Warzone Sandbox, as well as Japan. For the Warzone Sandbox defense in particular, the LDF activated a deployment of border control nations made in early November to ensure the defense of the region. Following those defenses we briefly deployed to Stargate to return the native delegate to power after they were displaced by invader carelessness.

Lastly, in response to the attempted invasion of Warzone Sandbox, the LDF led a tag raid of Pax Ordexxj alongside our Warzoner allies. Overall, it was a very active month for our regional military and we have enjoyed great success recently.

Consulate Foreign Report
Authored by Paleocacher

The Office of the Consulate had a busy month, starting with overseeing the mid-term cycle of Council nominations for our opposite branch of constitutional government.

Beyond this, the Consulate has been extremely dedicated in working alongside the Department of Foreign Affairs and military. The liberation of China saw more experimentation in civilian outreach and Chief Consul / WA Delegate Creeperopolis has continued to do WA work such as approving and advocating proposals relevant to our friends and allies.

Following the attempted invasion of Warzone Sandbox, the Consulate authored and proposed the prohibitions of both Lone Wolves United and The Black Hawks in response to their aggression. Concurrent to this, we assigned a delegation of Leaguer officials to negotiate a new treaty with the Warzone Empire.

Council Foreign Report
Authored By East Yourtanad.

This month, the Council has been extremely active. Firstly, on December 7th, Council Nominations opened with one returning council member and another continuing his term. The returning council member goes by the name The Tirol Region, and the one continuing another 1 month term is Reykanes. For voting cards this month, there was CRB 3 - A Bill to amend CRL 24 on December 14th, with 9 out of 9 votes in favor of amending CRL 24. On December 28th, a major act was proposed to the council. This act was Prohibition of Lone Wolves United which prohibits all members of LWU from entering The League’s Forums, The League’s Discord, The League’s Nationstates Region, and all other properties of The League. This bill had a landslide vote, with all council members voting in favor of it. A few hours later, another vote was put into action. This vote was The Golden Eagle Pact with a landslide majority in favor. Following this on the day directly after, December 29th, a similar voting card to the Prohibition of the LWU was proposed. This was Prohibition of The Black Hawks with the exact same reason, that reason being they raided The League’s Embassy region, Warzone Sandbox. The vote once again has a landslide vote, with 9/9 Council Delegates voting in favor. I hope you had a merry holiday and a Happy New Year!

Speaker of the Council, East Yourtanad.

Thank you for such a concise and fruitful update. As I said on Discord, I really appreciate it.

The League’s Defense Forces (LDF) have had another month of amazing activity. Earlier in the month we conducted a siege of A Liberal Haven with a record 29 LDF soldiers coming to try and free the region from the clutches of raiderdom.

Due to the failure to successfully liberate the region however little else happened throughout the month outside of normal Libcord operations: fighting tag runs and performing detag runs.

The council hasn’t been active this month, for understandable reasons such as New Years, birthdays, and other events (namely a covid outbreak.) However, as you may know, it was time for all terms to end for the monthly cycle of the Council!

To start things off on January 8th, 2022, with the first people to get fully nominated for this term; Reykanes and Ajakanistan! Shortly after these two made it into quorum, a well known member of The League, New Makasta, swiftly followed suit, making it into quorum.

Another pair was nominated the next day (January 9th, 2022), these two being the very awesome DinoNet and SPode humbleD Minions. The same day, ANOTHER pair was sent into quorum to be Council Delegates. This pair was Karimun Jawa and East Yourtanad! The nominations ended on January 13th, 2022 with East Yourtanad becoming Speaker of the Council

Throughout February/since our last report, The League's Defense Forces have continued maintaining and active presence. The most well known activity performed was our attempts in the sieges of The Mystical Council, a region which was unfortunately griefed largely by senseless invaders despite our best efforts. Despite this setback, we have had several other successful initiatives in the past month.

As discussed in an earlier report, we conducted a bilateral detagging run with The Union of Democratic States Armed Forces which was a successful operation for the both of us. Not long after, we led a liberation of Warzone Airspace with our allies from 10000 Islands, covered here

Lastly, the LDF has begun a new officer training process which will culminate in the development of a new rank in our current system, which will reported on in more depth in the future.

There have been a number of developments in the Department of Foreign Affairs:

On 12 September the founding of our new regional forum also marked the introduction of forum threads for allies and embassies of The League.

On 14 September after six months of no formal relations, The League and Lazarus restored on-site embassies.

On 25 September, The League ratified the Treaty of Savotta and Ribe, codifying the relationship with Balder and marking a new era in our relations.

Three new diplomatic agents have joined the Department of Foreign Affairs over the last month.

The League's Defense Forces Foreign Report
Authored by Quebecshire

The League's Defense Forces has had an incredibly successful and active month, showing regular displays of power and skill across numerous victories. Our turnouts and general training have improved substantially and many reports were published throughout the month. In addition to chasing victories such as those on 14 September, we had several training and detagging operations such as an impromptu operation the following day and Operation Sunscraper, which allowed us to continue practicing fundamentals. Otherwise we conducted regular smaller scale operations and liberations of smaller raider holds. Off update, we supported Thaecia's delegate transition as their ally upon request.

Concurrent to Operation Sunscraper, we announced the promotion of now-Lieutenant Icaris. We are happy to have welcomed him to our officer corps, which now contains five highly trained military leaders. He has taken well to the new job and the LDF has also gained several new members recently which have begun conducting operations.

Opening nominations for the September–November 2022 term of the Council of the Republic concluded, and 18 new Council Delegates were confirmed to the Council, the most Delegates the Council has ever had since its establishment in May 2019.

The League and Concord continued manual recruitment efforts throughout September. Creeperopolis was the month’s Top Recruiter, counting in a total of 141 hours of recruiting. In total, both regions counted 528 hours of manual recruiting.

On 30 September 2022, The League surpassed 500 members and Concord surpassed 360 members. Additionally, Creeperopolis surpassed 150 endorsements, and Mechanocracy surpassed 75 endorsements.

The League and Concord participated in N-Day 7 as members of the Potato Alliance.

The League and Concord have established a new regional forum.

The Office of the Consulate at the time of this report is as follows,

Concord Update
Authored by Icaris

During the month of September, Concord saw an increase in membership, WA endorsements, and activity largely due to the recruiting efforts. The number of nations rose from 216 to 357 and WA endorsements for the WA delegate rose from 42 to 75. Activity was steady, mostly generated by NationStates issues discussions, learning gameplay and conversations sparked by regional polls. Krystallum was named new Governor-General of the region, and Communications, Research, Propaganda and Engagement Officers were added to reward and bolster citizen involvement and activity.

Department of Culture Report
Authored by Zloveshchiy

The Culture Department has received new staff members TileMakers and Moorland who have both been active and helpful to the community as a whole. Moorland in particular has started projects such as making a Regional Propaganda Poster Thread for anyone willing to post their own propaganda posters, and provided excellent work to The Potato Alliance's Propaganda efforts, earning him the Green Heart of Spiritus. The N-Day event and our membership in the Potato Alliance provided a lot of fun and cultural enrichment to the region, and overall it was a great event for our members.

Throughout the month we ran several polls in both regions leading to high engagement, providing newer gameside members and easy way to involve themselves in the region.

Joint Statement on Rejecting Intimidation and Subversion

In the early hours of 22 November 2022, The Black Hawks led an operation alongside The Brotherhood of Malice and Lily, designed to target a substantial number of regions voting in favor of the Security Council proposal Repeal "Condemn Ever-Wandering Souls". During their operation, one of the regions they attempted to displace the WA Delegate of was The Free Nations Region. Thankfully, this attempt was thwarted by a Libcord deployment including members of The League's Defense Forces, The Order of the Grey Wardens, the South Pacific Special Forces, and the Eastern Pacific Sovereign Army. We thank those militaries for ensuring the stability of the FNR and its legitimate officers.

The FNR is a treaty ally of The League & Concord via the Franconia-Chiremba Accords, and of the Union of Democratic States via the Gemini Covenant. Pursuant to our obligations as steadfast allies of the FNR, The League and the Union have both offered our support to their government upon request and engaged in talks to properly formulate our responses.
We condemn this attack in all forms.

Beyond The League and the Union's bilateral agreements with the FNR, all three parties to this statement are members of the Partnership for Sovereignty, an organization which enshrines "the values of self-determination, regional sovereignty, and respect for the World Assembly and its members" in its organizational charter. Throughout the vote on the Repeal "Condemn Ever-Wandering Souls", we have seen numerous bad-faith and unjustifiable tactics being utilized by raider-aligned opposition. These tactics, listed below, are incompatible with all of the ideals listed previously:

  • Campaigns with ambiguous sign-offs being conducted from puppet nations of officers in The Black Hawks, likely for no other reason than to leave the recipients unaware of the bias and interest of the true sender.
  • Self-campaigning and promotion from the nominee of the repeal target, both on a puppet account and their main nation.
  • Most critically, the invasion of regions whose WA Delegates which voted for the proposal in an attempt to displace their legitimate delegacies, a clear act of intimidation and subversion.

These actions only affirm what has been apparent for some time, that organizations such as The Black Hawks and The Brotherhood of Malice are wholly unable to engage with the World Assembly and its processes in good-faith.
We commend all regions and individuals which have stood against one or multiple of the above tactics and thank those which have voted or spoken in solidarity with those regions harmed.

With the repeal having secured a majority of both the overall and the individual/popular vote in favor, we are content to see that the latest attempt to abuse the World Assembly by raiderdom has fallen flat, if not backfired completely.
This chamber is not a battlefield to impose barbaric force against its voting members, and we, nor the other regions of the world will not be tormented or intimidated into supporting your self-interested objectives in the World Assembly, let alone by intolerable means.

New Director of Foreign Affairs: Parthian Union

Hello, I am Parthian Union, I have recently been selected as the successor of Tirol for the position of Director of Foreign Affairs.

While I am grateful for this position, I know I have a long way to go to truly replace Tirol. Before this, I had been ambassador to our allies in 10000 Islands and an avid recruiter. Taking on such a role will be challenging, but I know I have a team of ready to help people who will be able to guide and support me along my journey. I plan to grow The League and Concord's influence and credibility, as well as work closely with the military and our allies to protect and strength other communities across NationStates. The promotion and success of the defender cause will be paramount to my agenda, as it has been to our regions for some time. I look forward to continuing work with our wonderful allies, as well as forge relationships with new ones going forward. One issue which will continue to be at the forefront of my work will be the upcoming Frontiers and Strongholds update, and I plan to work to increase awareness and preparedness for the changes therein.

The League and Concord is in an unprecedented position of size and success at this time, and I hope to build off of the accomplishments made so far. Thank you, and please reach out if I am needed in any way.

Establishment of the Domestic Security Bureau

To prepare for upcoming Frontiers and Strongholds update, a new institution to secure both regions' security and stability has been created by the Office of the Consulate, the Domestic Security Bureau (DSB). At present, this body is composed of the Consulate, the WA Delegates, and two newly appointed Vice-Delegates in Concord. For some more information, visit the DSB thread and see this message below from Mechanocracy, aka Spode Humbled Minions,

WA Delegate Mechanocracy said:
The new Domestic Security Bureau of The League & Concord is devoted to ensuring the long term safety and stability of Concord in the face of an uncertain and exciting future threat environment, and is composed of the delegate of Concord, as well as long-time community members Southwestern Federal Republic (Fandom), and Council of Feathers who have been entrusted to maintain the organization in their recently appointed capacity as Vice Delegates.

Council of Feathers, who would be known to older members as Neo Polisophos, is a Consul Emeritus, a member of The League since almost its inception, and a politician who guided the region through times both tumultuous and prosperous. Southwestern Federal Republic, more commonly known as The New Fandom Republic, has roots just as deep, was the Intelligence Director over a multiyear span, and will be upholding that legacy of protecting the region in their new post.

Monthly Foreign Report
January 2023

Produced, edited, and compiled on behalf of the Republic of The League by the Department of Foreign Affairs

General Foreign Affairs Report
Authored by New San Antonio.

Major events in The League and Concord’s since December 1st 2022:

On December 9th long time Director of Foreign Affairs Tirol stepped down from his position due to concerns about real-life obligations and him no longer having enough time for the job.

As a result, December 13th a new Director was appointed, Parthian Union, a relatively newer member to the region who was most known for his contributions to recruitment.

One new member joined the Department of Foreign Affairs this month as a Deputy Director, myself, the person writing this report.

There was no reassignment of diplomats this month.

All reassignments of ambassadors may be viewed here.

The Director of Foreign Affairs at the time of this report is Parthian Union.

The League's Defense Forces Foreign Report

Recent times have been utterly groundbreaking for the LDF. In the last few months we have broken a number of internal records and been pivotal to broader defender success.

During the liberation of New Westphalia we had 36 unique at-update liberators access three sieges (61 instances of .here amongst those people), and had a single update attendance of 24 members for the final siege, an organization record. Not long after the operation we promoted Raziel (aka One Small Island) to the rank of Colonel for their dedication.

Eager to capitalize off of this momentum, we have had a number of internal officer discussions regarding rank reform, onboarding reform, and retrospective discussions following recent liberations. So far this has materialized in the form of the establishment of the Eagle Militia and re-naming of several ranks.

Soon after the New Westphalia operation we supplied 23 members to the liberation of The Potato Union and provided critical numbers for defenses against small occupation attempts.

Presently, the official LDF roster lists 46 members, likely to be subject to change due to recent applications and a planned inactivity audit.

The General of the League Defense Forces at the time of this report is New Makasta.

Consulate Foreign Report
Authored by Paleocacher.

The November 2022 - January 2023 term of the Council of the Republic held nominations in both November and December, the Council is currently composed of a record 26 members and Jammy continues his Speakership from the previous term.

The League and Concord continue manual recruiting with a new Top Recruiter, Kivu, earning top spot with 200 hours last month.

The League currently has more than 700 nations and Concord has passed 400, strong figures for both regions. Endotarting programs have successfully brough our endo counts to 250+ and 130+ for Creeperopolis and Mechanocracy respectively.

The Consulate oversaw the hiring of Parthian Union as the new Director of Foreign Affairs following Tirol's resignation and we look forward to seeing the direction he will take the Foreign Affairs agency in.

In anticipation of major pending gameplay updates the Consulate has overseen additional security precautions in the creation of the Domestic Security Bureau and the appointment of Vice-Delegates to ensure the stability of Concord and continuity of government following the release of the Frontiers and Strongholds update in the near future.

The Office of the Consulate at the time of this report is as follows,

Concord Update
Authored by Anjan Kloss.

Since the last report, Concord’s has maintained stability despite a site-wide population downturn. Despite this and other military operations, WA endorsements on our regional delegate have remained strong and at a high level, presently 145 (the record for post-update endorsements being 146, indicating a firm stability around high numbers). We also recently congratulated Mechanocracy on 6 months as WA Delegate of Concord.

A special thank you to the 6 (7 if you count Fort Concord) nations from Concord who participated in the liberation of New Westphalia earlier this month, and contributed to the LDF’s (at the time) highest turnout in its history. Of the 6 nations who participated, 5 were volunteers, and 1 was a Private (now Minuteman) in the LDF.

As mentioned in the Consulate report, congratulations to the Council of Feathers and the Southwestern Federal Republic, who under the newly created Domestic Security Bureau, were appointed as Vice-Delegates of Concord. They will help to ensure the stability and security of Concord, especially when the new Frontiers and Strongholds update comes out. The Vice-Delegates and DSB at large have been widely successful, as both VDs have steadily claimed to over 85 endorsements.

Department of Culture Report
Authored by Zloveshchiy.

The month of Christmas is a joyous month of the year, and the one that has seen many activities within its days.

In terms of gaming and smaller activities, we had Gartic Phone and film events hosted by Paleocacher and a Hearts of Iron IV game hosted by The New Fandom Republic.

Lastly, polls have seen more consistent activity thanks to the efforts of Jack Empire and Anjan Kloss, with the polls that were made this month receiving excellent results. Also, more new nations are consistently integrating into The League thanks to the recruitment program and its recruiters.

The Culture Department is pleased to say the least, and we hope that we'll continue providing and improving to the overall Culture sector of the region.

The Director of Culture at the time of this report is Zloveshchiy.
