In this thread we will suggest and discuss ranks for the Pacific Navy. Any member is free to suggest ideas.

My idea:
Officers:
1. Admiral (Minister of Defense, appointed by the President)
2. Vice Admiral (Deputy Minister of Defense, appointed by the Admiral)
3. Commodore (A trusted officer who is a member of Naval High Command, equiv. to Colonel)
4. Captain (Equiv. to Major)
5. Lieutenant (Has shown leadership potential and is an experienced sailor, equiv. to Captain)
6. Midshipman (Has shown leadership potential and has completed numerous operations, equiv. to Lieutenant)
Enlisted:
7. Petty Officer (Equivalent to Sergeant)
8. Able Sailor (Has completed several operations)
9. Sailor (Entry level)

I do like the navy theme. Perhaps we can create a seal with our emblem on it and attach that to the US insignia to create our own insignia?

That sounds like a good idea.

With the ranks, I believe we should simplify it a bit.

1. Admiral (appointed by the President to lead the Navy)
2. Vice Admiral (appointed by the Admiral to assist them in managing the Navy)
3. Officers (appointed by the Admiral and the Vice Admiral to lead operations)
4. Sailors (entry level recruits, the majority of the Navy)

I disagree. An army with a lot of ranks will persuade more to join because it will feel more satisfying the higher and higher you get. Plus, with less ranks it will be MUCH harder to get promoted.

BAC-ON ACTION!
Do we want quality, or quantity? Newt has the right idea, speaking from experiences.

The problem is with many ranks is that it requires a great deal of patience for the Admiral of the Navy. Having a simplified rank structure will make it more of a reward to be made an Navy Officer whereas if sailors are moving up ranks every few operations, that reward is lost.

Rank emblems? They are the best ones I could find.
