Election Results The election results are in and as are follows- Prime Minister- Tulov Tulov was uncontested in the race for PM, so he will be serving a second term in office. Minister of Domestic affairs- Tieopia Tieopa, as some or most of you may know, is a long-term member of Conch Kingdom and he was uncontested so he has begun his first term in office as our Minister of Domestic Affairs. Minister of Foreign Affairs- Balan Bar There were two nations running for this position. Balan Bar won the election for MoFA with 9 votes (90% vote share), and Tropicville yielded 1 vote (10%). Balan Bar will continue his time in office. People's Justice's- Gazohi Bideq was elected as our people's justice. He was also uncontested in the election. |

 Conch Kingdom Courts Opened Author- Balan Bar Last Updated- Tuesday 053017, 1220 EDT Thanks to the tireless work of then-Minister of Domestic Affairs [nation]Tulov[/nation] and several others, Conch Kingdom's long-awaited judicial system was finally completed this week. This system, known in practice as the Conch Kingdom Courts, was intended to provide residents with an unbiased interpretation of their region's old and complex Governing Document. Its justices are appointed residents who have demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the laws, which they apply in their decisions on criminal and civil cases, to rule member states guilty or not guilty. A constitutional amendment outlining the system was put to a vote on the 26th of March, and subsequently passed with a vote of 13 to 1. The actual implementation of the amendment was a slow process, as officials deliberated for two months to choose the best candidates for the bench. Ultimately, the Chief Justice was appointed by Tulov, who had since been elected the Prime Minister, and conferred by Monarch [nation]Conch Kingdom[/nation] on the 24th of April. The next justice to be appointed was [nation]New Jaedonstan[/nation], who was conferred by Minister of Domestic Affairs [nation]Arudis[/nation] and Minister of Foreign Affairs [nation]Balan Bar[/nation] on the 5th of May. The last seat will be filled by the People's Justice, who is to be elected by the member states of Conch Kingdom. On the 13th of June elections have concluded and [nation]Gazohi Bideq[/nation], who ran unopposed, won his election to the bench. The amendment also provides for an Appeals Court, which will hear all motion of appeal from those who feel they have not been given a fair trial, and wish to have their verdict overturned. The three Appellate Justices will be appointed by the Prime Minister and approved by the Monarch. As no appeal cases are pending, all seats are still vacant at this time. Elections! It is the 14th, and elections have mostly concluded! As Arudis has jumped in last moment for the position of Minister of Domestic Affairs, the Minister of Domestic Affairs election shall begin immediately. ------ Completed elections, Prime Minister The United Socialist States of Tulov Minister of Foreign Affairs The Democratic Monarchy of Sevillo People's Justice The Constitutional Monarchy of Balan Bar Prime Minister of Conch Kingdom The United Socialist States of Tulov AUTHOR: Tulov The End of an Era! Last night, following a private discussion between Founder August and Administrator Helaw, the decision was made to close down the Augustin Alliance as an organization for an indefinite period. The news broke first in the AA Discord server, to responses of surprise and disappointment. Included in the statement were the Joint Task Force, which was disbanded immediately, and the server itself, which was archived and hidden except for its #general channel. Each of the five constituent regions are expected to continue their operations as normal, and no significant changes in government are anticipated at this time. The AA leadership expresses its regret at the abruptness and negative impact of this event, but maintains that it is ultimately in the best interests of all those involved. The above is the final official statement of the organization. The following are my personal remarks. First of all, I wrote a few versions of this announcement. It has been difficult to express everything in a way that is concise, professional, and complete. I hope this clears up any remaining confusion people may have. The general idea is that ever since the first region was founded in January of last year, I have been doing the vast majority of the work to keep everything running. Not all of it, mind you--over these nineteen months, we have had a couple fairly dedicated officials helping to move things along. However, those have been few and far between, and the effort required to maintain an organization of this size and complexity is immense. I keep my personal NS to-do list in Evernote, and it stretches off the page. It grows faster than I can check off the boxes. We have one of the largest update military organizations on the field, where I am the only active officer. We have one of the most active Discord servers in the game, with hundreds of users, and only a couple consistently active staff (including myself). We have contests, military operations, political transitions, and all manner of events that should go in news stories, and I am the only one who writes them. We have nearly fifty official dispatches to maintain, and I run almost all of them. We have huge projects to complete, some of which have not been announced yet, and I am the only one working on them. The list goes on and on, but I fear I am going overboard already. Surprisingly, this is a sustainable state of affairs. I could continue like this if I had to, but should I? I am a full-time engineer at a small firm. I also resume classes shortly--eight of them at a time. I have an additional part-time job during the school year. All the normal adult obligations of housing, food, bills, etc, are still present. Every day it becomes harder to justify the hours spent prodding and cajoling a group of melodramatic teenagers on the internet to contribute to the community they call home. As of last night, I no longer believe that task to be worth my limited time. Now, the AA is in hibernation, not permanently dead, hence the use of "intermission" rather than "the end." That means no further updates will be made to this thread or my dispatches, the JTF will stop updating, the server has been archived, etc. Everything still exists and will be reused if/when the AA returns, but is completely off-limits until that time. As for the regions, they still exist. Their governments still exist. Their residents are still present. This, right here, is the crux of the whole thing: the AA was never intended to be the most important of my creations. It was just a banner, an umbrella term for the five regions, which were supposed to be entirely self-sufficient and independent. A solid, strong community is not defined by its name, but by its people, and nothing I did should have affected that principle. Today, the individual regions have a chance to prove themselves without me. They have everything they need and more: the structure, the knowledge, the community. This will be the greatest test ever faced by the regions of the Augustin Alliance... until they meet again. If you have any questions about the decision or the AA itself, please ask. I will also consider declassifying AA documents, logs, or other internal matters on a case-by-case basis*. *With justification. Military secrets are off the table. JTF opsec is still Fort Knox. AUTHOR: August With this news, the Government of Conch Kindom finds itself at a cross road. All the things that August ran will now be on the shoulder of local government officials. With the JTF now gone, new military branches will need to be formed for each region. As I write this a few of the regions are starting to talk about banding together and forming a NATO style organization to replace the hole the JTF left. Not all region will join this organization, so we will see if it will grow beyond the former AA region or if it will remain small. |

Changes to the Governing Document of Conch Kingdom An amendment was proposed on August 28, 2017 to elevate the Chief Justice to a Regional Office and make the Courts a Tier. This amendment was proposed by [nation=short]Balan Bar[/nation]. The purpose of this amendment is to elevate the Chief Justice to a Regional Office position with authority over communications. The purpose of this is to allow the Chief Justice to send out a majority opinion, a dissenting opinion, and/or a concurring opinion at the end of each trial. While a majority opinion is needed, a dissenting opinion and a concurring opinion are up to the other Justice to write and are optional. To add this, the governing document needs to be changed, more specifically section d sub section Vii to read out as follows: vii. Upon a verdict being rendered, a majority opinion will be written by the senior most judge and published by the Chief Justice in a kingdom wide telegram. Current Court Procedure vii with be changed to viii. The second portion of this amendment will add the position of Chief Justice to Responsibilities & Details and delete the section on the Justices: Chief Justice 1. Position: Oversee the Conch Court. 2. Authority: Communications. 3. Tasks: 4. Reports to: None. The third portion of this amendment will be to change the courts from a division to a tier which will read as: Judicial Tier Conch Court | Chief Justice | [nation]The Superior Helghan Empire[/nation] | Associate Justice | [nation]New Jaedonstan[/nation] | People's Justice | [nation]Balan Bar[/nation] Completed August 18th 2017. A second amendment had been put forth by The Superior Helghan Empire to officially ban any illegal seizure of power from the Conch Kingdom Government by a resident. The purpose of this amendment is to officially ban any illegal seizure of power from the Conch Kingdom Government by a resident. The current version of the document does not include any provisions regarding an attempted coup, which is a major security concern. Some residents may see a coup as a legal way to install themselves as a benevolent leader and bypass all regional laws in order to improve the region. However, such actions can result in severe backfire. The potential byproducts of a coup include unrest, destabilization, the disregard of regional values, the disruption of government efforts to improve the region, a notable drop in population size, the destruction of the region, or all seven combined. This law is meant to safeguard this region from such happenings. To add this, the governing document needs to be changed. More specifically, section a) of §2. Regulations for Residents must be altered to read out as follows: iv. A take over of the region with the intention of mass ejections, the desecration of the regional image, or the pursuit of a total grasp on power by a single resident or group of residents. Completed August 29, 2017. Credits to Tulov and [nation=short]Angbhand [/nation]for their assistance in creating this Amendment Proposal Elections The elections for Minister of Domestic Affairs has come to an end and with it the end of the election season for Conch Kingdom. Tieopia, the incumbent, was set to win, but at the last min the former Minister of Domestic Affairs Arudis jumped in the race and soundly defeat the incumbent with 10 votes or 71% to Tieopia’s 3 votes or 21% and one resident abstained from the vote. Forum The old forum was not cutting it anymore and with the founder taking a back seat to the running of the regions, it was decided that a new forum was need. Our Prime Minister Tulov made quick work of this and started to form our new forum and archiving everything from the old forum by hand. Work in still need by the forum is up and running.
