Established on June 1, 2011, Right to Life is the premier region for the pro-life movement on NationStates. Right to Life is a community of nations that recognizes and promotes defense of the unalienable rights of the unborn. The nations of the region, believing in prenatal equality, oppose induced abortion in all or most cases. Members of Right to Life come from a wide spectrum of national, political, and religious (and nonreligious) backgrounds. Anybody pro-life is welcome in the region. Regional law permits individual region members to tolerate abortion access under the following circumstances:
In the Right to Life government, executive power is vested in the Executive Council, which consists of the Founder, the President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of Internal Affairs. The Founder is the region's head of state and the offsite board's root administrator, and he has the power to veto bills passed by the Senate (a power used only once in six years). The President is Right to Life's head of government and its delegate in the World Assembly. Both ministers are appointed by the President and serve at his pleasure. The Senate is Right to Life's legislature and its supreme court. It consists of three senators, who are elected under cumulative voting. The primary purposes of the Senate are passing laws to govern the region and, through the use of its judicial power, checking the executive branch (including the forum moderators, who serve under the authority of the Founder). By majority vote, the Senate, for example, may override decisions to eject or ban players or to deprive them of citizenship. The independent officers are regional officials who serve outside the Executive Council. Unlike ministers, they are not appointed by the President alone, cannot be dismissed by the President alone, and consequently have greater flexibility in the performance of their duties. The Bank Director oversees the regional economy and makes regulations for it by means of economic policy directives, which the Senate may veto within seven days. The Cartographer maintains the region's official map, which is pinned to the world factbook entry. The Justice of the Peace serves as the judge of the Justice Court, which hears criminal and civil cases in the first instance. Justice Court rulings may be appealed to the Senate. The News Director manages the News Bureau, which publishes periodic newsletters on Right to Life for domestic and foreign consumption. Since February 18, 2012, Right to Life has had a bill of rights. Currently, the region's bill of rights recognizes six fundamental rights -- freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom of association, freedom of contract, and freedom from aggression -- and two procedural rights -- the right to fair treatment and freedom from cruel or unusual punishment. The regional government may not abridge a fundamental right, unless it "demonstrates that the abridgement significantly promotes an important regional interest." The procedural rights are inviolable. In addition, it is a crime in Right to Life for a private party to "intimidate or prevent others from freely and peacefully exercising their fundamental rights." Save the regional constitution, the bill of rights is superior to all other regional laws. Please sign below, and feel free to ask questions about Right to Life! Click Here for Badge for Signature
