Fenda and/or Neoliberal Globalist Communist subversion aside, we like to think we're a pretty open and approachable region and, as such our cabinet are more than happy to take your questions and run with them, possibly somewhere far away, where they can never see the light of day again and..., so why not chuck them in here and we'll see what we can do, eh?

The current cabinet of the Coalition of the South Pacific is as follows:

Prime Minister: Roavin
Minister of Foreign Affairs: Tim
Minister of Regional Affairs: Seraph
Minister of Military Affairs: Escade

So, uh, whaddya wanna know?

How did the game side Local Council come into existence in the South Pacific? Was this in response to a specific event gameside or just as an idea to increase democracy?

Well this is more of a history lesson but I'd be happy to answer :)

Ultimately, it starts with South Pacifican legend [nation]Tsunamy[/nation], who has always been one to encourage and work towards empowering all nations in our region. Tsu was always bothered that still a significant portion of the region would either have to come to the off-site forum to participate in regional governance, or not participate at all. As NationStates gained new features on-site such as better formatting of the World Factbook Entry, regional polls, dispatches, an unlimited Regional Message Board, etc., Tsu decided it was time to make it happened and called for a Great Council in the beginning of 2015 to discuss the possibilities of getting a wider democratic base without sacrificing the security mechanisms that an off-site forum allows.

In the January 2015 Great Council, many ideas were proposed, such as a bicameral legislature, a Minister of Gameside Affairs, and others. Tsunamy was a very active participant in all of those discussions. Unfortunately, none of the proposals passed and the Great Council ended without a result, but not without lessons learned and ideas gleaned. A few weeks after the Great Council ended, the Local Council was proposed by the Chair at the time, which ultimately passed and started the great venture of RMB empowerment in the South Pacific. Note that Tsu actually voted against that bill at the time - as far as I know, this was out of protest because he didn't feel that the bill empowered the RMBers enough!

The Local Council now bears relatively little resemblance to the Local Council of the time. What TSP was doing was new, there was no precedent to see, and so there was a considerable amount of experimentation, fixing problems, and so on, though I'd argue that now, in 2017, it has evolved into a cornerstone piece of South Pacifican culture and democracy.

TL;DR: Came about early 2015 because Tsu kept wanting more game-side involvement. Was in response to the game having more possibilities on-site.

1) Can I not have my cake and subvert it, too?
2) Madonna.
3) What if they're the same thing?
4) I am now and have never been, but I hear it's nice this time of year.
5) I'm not a fan, but then they aren't big in the UK anyway.
6) C-3PO, apparently. :( I'd rather be Obi-Wan, though, or Revan...
