Office of The Deputy Prime Minister
NSWF Opening Address
13.12.2017

On behalf of the Kingdom of Great Britain, I would like to welcome all of you to our booth for this year’s World Fair. It is our delight to participate in the sixth annual World Fair, and we thank this year’s organisers for their hard work in overseeing this special event.

On a more personal note, this is the first time I have participated in this event myself. As a newcomer to the Kingdom of Great Britain, I’ve been fortunate enough to be elected twice as a Member of Parliament and to be appointed as Deputy Prime Minister, and I’ve been able to form new bonds and friendships with many in our community. As this is my first time in helping our Foreign Secretary organise our booth, I hope that our booth this year is successful.

This year, I’ve been working with different members of our region to enact reforms to improve our system and to enact legislation to deter and punish corruption at the highest levels. Our community and leadership has been receptive of these reforms to tackle our problems of the past to a brighter future. The ambition towards improving our region is not unique to our own as we reflect upon this year’s theme “NationStates for Tomorrow”. In the Lecture Hall, we will be reminded of this theme as the fantastic speakers this year discuss sensitive topics that ought to be discussed such as the recurring issues of harassment and internet safety. Many of us may have our differences in our philosophies of military gameplay, forms of governance, and political ideologies, but the one thing that continues to unite us under a single banner is our common desire to make our regions and NationStates in general safe and enjoyable places to be in.

I look forward to getting to know all of you, and participating in this year’s fun! Our King will be releasing his own remarks as well, so stay tuned!

The Honourable Edward Pierce MP
Deputy Prime Minister of The Kingdom of Great Britain
