It seems customary to begin with an introduction in this forum.

My nation is JC Helios, named after two of the "protagonists" in Deus Ex (2000). I plan to shape it as would the merged consciousness of these two characters following the game's ending (should you choose to join Helios). The fact of it being a single, isolated entity in a world full of other nations makes things a bit more interesting, since JC Denton and Helios would have almost certainly heavily demilitarized the entire world after assuming control of all of its information technology and related infrastructure. The scenario presented here warrants a more complicated response to the question of militarization. Although the inability to declare war against other nations might rule that out. I'm not sure. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about: I recommend playing the game. It's old and the engine is clunky but the plot and the writing more than makes up for any of that. It helped to define much of my personal philosophy regarding government and human civilization.

Aside from any of that, I'm mildly intrigued by the concept of regional government. It seems this is one of the only ways for nations to interact, given the developers' castration of any kind of interactive game mechanics. I'm still not sure how participating in this affects anything in-game. There does appear to be a form of hierarchy presiding over the region as denoted in the region's world factbook entry. So that's a start.

Welcome!

There is really not much by way of actual game mechanics developed into the game. The reason it's lasted over a decade though is because of sites like this. Regions decided to order themselves with a government housed in an offsite forum to help give a new dimension to the game. Also, there is a slightly accidental form of warfare in the game, and I believe I replied to your post on the RMB regarding that, but regardless, I will share again a thread that explains it all with some depth.

I hope you decide to get involved!
