Apologies if this thread is in the wrong area, but I'm wondering where I could read up on the history of Lazarus? I couldn't find any threads on a forum search, and the forums only go back to 2009.

I'm interested in how the GCR's generally have developed to the point they're at. Government structures and political philosophies are so often faulty. Yet, the GCR's manage to stay together and active individually. I think that by putting as much together as possible, especially as an outsider without being personally invested, it might help me find common themes or ideas/structures that are inherently better than others. When it comes to running regions, that is.

TL;DR What makes the longest lasting regions stay together and how did they form from anarchy in the beginning?

I think by being friendly and welcoming. GCR's have a constant stream of new arrivals, and less need to recruit. UCR's have to market themselves, which leads to them offering themes and trying to appeal to different play styles. Still, I think that any region that wants to prosper needs to be friendly and welcoming. Beyond that, I suppose it depends on the personalities of the players themselves, and how well they get along.

GCRs kind of have to exist so a community will always form.

Lazarus has seen several permutations. From a Monarchy to a sort of dead/necromantic theme, to the PRL, to the NLO, to our current Humane Republic. No matter how many regime changes happen there will always be a community and there will always be a government.

If you want to look at a long standing region that stays around without being a GCR I'd look at something like 10,000 Islands or Europeia.

Do we have all the history information on one, continuous piece of text?
