Pokemon battle

With a presidential debate coming up, I thought what the heck, why not throw in a Pokemon battle in the mix [pokedex]007[/pokedex]
How it will work is every person interested will have an opportunity to choose a Pokemon type (on a first come, first served basis). This means that their 6 Pokemon has to be made up exclusively of their chosen type.

Using a randomiser, each contestant will be paired up with another person to duel in a Pokemon battle!

So ... anyone interested?

I've noted everyone's preference in the second post of this thread.

When should we begin? Should there be a minimum number of players?

How exactly are the fights going to be done? Does it require me to know what my Pokemon can do?

I considered this for some time.

My idea is that each player will select six Pokemon which belongs to their respective types (i.e. I will pick 6 dragon-type Pokemon).

When the Pokemon are declared, I will provide a list of statistics for each of your chosen Pokemon.

For example; the Pokemon

PokemonVenusaur

[pokedex]003[/pokedex]
HP364
Attack289

The Pokemon's moves

MoveTypePower
Double-edgeNormal120
Petal DanceGrass120
Petal BlizzardGrass90
Solar BeamGrass120

Each player will then be paired up randomly and battle!

How are the moves to be determined?

Most pokemon battle calculators give you the relevant stats for pokemon. :D

This one is my favorite. You just put in your pokemon, its level, and nature and tah-dah! Then you put in the relevant information for the opponent pokemon and it tells you how much damage each of your moves will do; and how much damage each of their moves will do. :D

I will try it. Let's do Dark type. But how does it work with hybrid types?

As this is the first time we are trying something like this, I think some leeway is appropriate.

Use your best judgement. Try to stay within your type but the lines are blurry, so feel free to experiment. If we find that there is a problem or some sort of unfairness as a result of the blurred lines, we will rectify it for future games.

I am pretty busy today but I should be free tomorrow to write up a more comprehensive guide to this.
