NS Forum Discussion

Well, considering that they were condemned in the first place in great part due to couping Lazarus and the fact that the Grand Assembly has condemned the resolution author for his coup in Osiris it would probably best if we voted against the repeal imo.

Discuss.

As with all Repeal Commend proposals, if the only reason you can offer is "They apologised" or "They stopped doing it", automatic AGAINST. Just because they "stopped doing" the things they got condemned for, doesn't mean they never did them. For me, a condemn proposal is a snapshot in time. As long as there isn't anything factually untrue about the proposal itself, it should ideally never be repealed.

And that's not even going into the specifics of this proposal or its author, which would sway my vote even if I weren't categorically opposed to this type of repeals...

Edit: I don't really have much to say on this. One disingenuous apology doesn't make the things they did go away.

I'm curious though...assuming that our official stance is against, since the Delegate is voting against, are we doing anything on the FA front to shore up support against this repeal? From what I can tell, there's a decent amount of support for repealing the condemnation, and it would possibly be succeeding right now had someone else written it up.

I don't think we have an official stance: that would take a Grand Assembly resolution. My statement was more me sharing my opinion as a private citizen, rather than as Sovereign. Still, I have to admit that it never really occured to me to lobby for a vote against. What would be the best way to go about that? Posting in the Gameplay subforum? RMB posts in regions we have embassies with? Something else?

I have to admit, this sort of thing is one of my weak points, but perhaps others better connected with NS politics than I can answer how to go about it. I imagine that it begins with making a case for retaining the condemnation, and then making the case to people whose votes would be important on the matter, particularly other GCR delegates, possibly cultivating better relations in general with those regions in the process. As I understand it, the NPO has been doing this on their end for some time and has been making a good bit of headway. It's unfortunate for them that the person that ended up writing the proposal was Cormac, and that he wrote it for the obvious purpose of attempting to further legitimize his recent actions instead of anything actually having to do with the Lazarus coup or the NPO. You could also probably consult with treaty partners, who would presumably be more open to working with Lazarus on an issue it considered important.

If Lazarus officially considers retaining the condemnation important, that is. There's a case to be made for not considering it to be important too.

Basically this. Posts in NSGP and RMBs are not going to be as helpful until you have built up good relations with the key players

It looks like it's going to fail handily.

There is no need to because I am confident in its failure.
