Currently s5 and s6 of Article VI of the Mandate read

Quote:

(5) The Grand Assembly shall conduct a confidence vote for the Grand Advisors every three months, immediately after the conclusion of the regularly scheduled elections. Any Grand Advisor who does not receive the confidence of a majority shall be recalled.

(6) The Grand Assembly shall vote on confidence in the Grand Advisors every four months. Any Grand Advisor who does not receive the confidence of a majority shall be recalled.

I believe that one of these needs to be removed, and I feel like it is s6. Following the conclusion of the elections is an easier time frame to remember, and makes sense as a point in time to review the people responsible for the security of Lazarus. Also; s6 doesn't stipulate whether the Grand Advisors are reviewed every four months en masse, or whether each individual Grand Advisor is reviewed every four months from when they are approved as a Grand Advisor.

As a side note, when was the last time we held a vote of confidence for our grand advisors?

We never have, that I am aware of. Perhaps striking both clauses is the way to go. GA's call be recalled by a simple majority vote (I'm pretty sure), so a regular vote of confidence seems a little overdone. It's not like they do a whole lot besides maintain endos and accumulate influence.

I would definitely be okay with that, as long as we include a clause that allows Grand Advisors to be recalled; they're not technically government officials, and neither are they court officials, so if we strike out both of those clauses we lose our ability to recall them. So maybe something like

Quote:

(5) The Grand Assembly shall have the power to recall any Grand Advisor with a 2/3 majority vote.

Oops sorry apparently (5) was replaced with (6). Not sure when the mix-up occured :P

Also, while we're at it, an enquiry: Once Loftegen steps down, does he automatically become a Grand Advisor again? Or will he have to reapply?

Perhaps this amendment instead?
Amendment

(5) Once confirmed Grand Advisors shall serve an unlimited term, unless recalled by a two-thirds majority vote.
