I thought I would start up a discussion on endorsees since no one has started one yet.

Someone raised the point somewhere -- sorry, I looked and I can't find the exact point raised anymore -- that endorsees should be elected to make sure they're more accountable and the assembly can ensure they still have the best interests of the region in mind, are actively tarting, etc. Others were not a fan of electing endorsees because it might make it more of a popularity contest instead of having an independent security council.

So my thought was:

  • Any citizen who meets the legal influence and endorsement requirements (set by statutory law) can be admitted as an endorsee by the assembly, as in Gulliver's draft.
  • The assembly will conduct a review of all endorsees every six months, and vote to re-confirm endorsees. Reviewing all endorsees at once would avoid having to keep track of who has reached the term limit for re-confirmation.

Thoughts on this? Other ideas?

I actually like Gulliver/Funk's draft as it is with regards to endorsees.

Having written the draft, I'm of course in support of the admissions process as written. As for whether there should be a mandatory reconfirmation vote every 6 months, I'm ambivalent about that.

I think a reconfirmation is a good idea.
