Cathedral of the Stars Celestial Being I bring a point of order to the attention of the Convenor: regarding the recent votes on the elections of the Church of Satan and Killer Kitty. According to a ruling of the Celestial Inquisitorial Court, June 23, a prelate nomination taking place outside of the renewal of the Universal Cycle constitutes a Special Election. Therefore, a nomination taking place within the Renewal logically must be a regular election. The Elections Act specifies a rule on new citizens voting in elections:
The votes on the Church of Satan and Killer Kitty were counted with the votes of citizens who were accepted during the voting period. I request the Convenor look into the validity of these recent votes. In addition, until this point of order shall be satisfied, and in order to uphold clearly mandated governance, I, Aumelodia, as the Divine Representative of the Order of Stars, do refuse my assent to the election of Killer Kitty as Prelate. |

I would ask that our Convenor or appropriate Deputy Convenor move this thread from the Cosmic Council floor. What is being propositioned as a Point of Order has already been shown to be unlawful and just a non-existent procedure within our laws and legislature. The matter that was being debated has been thoroughly elaborated on and resolved. The refusal to assent by the Celestial Being is irrelevant and literally impossible. I have also proposed a way to fix the issue that was brought up which I will be pursuing as a formal proposal in another thread here shortly. |

Okay. I will give one hour for any parting comments to be made on this thread. After which, I will close this thread. |

Bugger that, others might want to debate the issue. You don't have to do everything Lamb says |

Why I didn't close it- it's actually against a law somewhere I think.... it has to be like 28 days of no activity on the thread in order to close it. |

Since we are talking about 'points,' I'd like to make my own 'point' The Celestial Being may withhold his/her assent, as per the CMA. Aumelodia utilised his celestial prerogative. A prerogative which is applicable as per Article III ((3) (f); with the C.B. having the mandate to [appoint] Prelates on the advice of the Cosmic Council. While not commenting on the reason behind the matter, I state categorically that it is entirely within the authority of the Celestial Being to do so. The C.M.A is unambiguous in this regard; Article VI (6-7) states the following: [the] Cosmic Council shall, at the Renewal of the Universal Cycle, elect from amongst its membership, Prelate-nominees … [the] Celestial Being shall, at his discretion, grant these nominees through blessing, power to adjudicate with his celestial authority. I note in particular the phrase, at his discretion. The persons so nominated by the Council are precisely that, nominees, who await the assent of the Celestial Being to take their seat on the bench. |

That's incorrect. That clause is in reference to the discussion of proposals. This isn't a proposal, which is why I requested that it be moved to a more appropriate forum, such as the Private Chambers. It's really irrelevant at this point though. |

I would like to bring this up, even if the court rules that what happened was legal, we had a breach of security that in my opinion must call into question the integrity of our Court. If this were an election for anything else we would all say it was an outrage and I have a hard time understanding why members of this region are willingly going to let one of the most important bodies in this region be compromised by people who were given voting rights in the last few HOURS of the vote. If this was legal, this council needs to acknowledge that the Court may have been seriously compromised. I think we all need to ask ourselves, are we really okay with people who literally just got here determining who gets to rule on our laws for the next 4 months? And are we really going to try to defend this action that has potentially compromised our Court? Yes, it may have been legal but I can't believe the number of people who are saying this is an acceptable thing. I would like to make this abundantly clear this is nothing personal against KK. I have full confidence in his ability to serve the region on the Court, I simply must express my outrage that we are going to sit and passively allow this to have happened. |

We are not okay with it, that's why we're passing an amendment so that it cannot happen again. I think you're kind of being a little too dramatic about this. |

Oh, really? I happen to share Omega's concern and as it so happens, I think we do need to take the fact that our Court was just hijacked with the 'dramatic(s).' Edited by Amerion, Jul 17 2017, 04:22 PM.
