I propose we mandate in the Elections Act that every person submitting themselves as candidates in any senior capacity (I.e. Celestial Being, Sovereign, Defender of the Realm, Convenor, Prelate) have to fill out a Conflict of Interest Disclosure.

I understand the idea behind it but I feel it would not help, if the voters want to know where else a candidate is in NS they should ask If someone gets elected without being asked anything of the sort then something is up in my opinion. I understand and agree with the idea but don't think it should be an official rule, maybe more of an unofficial practice for voters to know/ask where a candidate is in NS?

What if the candidate lies? Making it a rule would also prescribe a punishment for lying.

Correct! Penalizing the deception enables the citizenry to better hold their government officials accountable.

If the candidates tie, then a run off election is held, of course.

What if we have an overzealous politically motivated creep who tries to use the fact that a candidate couldn't remember their entire (very, very long) NS history to invalidate an election?

I bring this up because that's exactly what Unibot tried to do to me, in The South Pacific, all because I forgot I held the position of "Officer" for a week in The Rejected Realms. These sort of laws are ripe for abuse.

Unibot is a ... Unique person.

But yes, you are correct.

I propose we prescribe a time frame of 1 year.

6 months seems more reasonable. And sorry for not being terribly active in the Council lately I have been busy and the forums have been giving me trouble so sorry about that! :)
