🌺 His Divine Eminence
Striding briskly across the cobblestone courtyard, Élien swung his telefolio around in the air. It was a bright morning in Uniterra, with the sun shining and a small sliver of one of the moons still barely visible near the horizon. Citizens and cosmic bureaucrats milled freely in the plaza, and small aeropods hovered and sped throughout the sky above.

But Élien was on business. Stepping over to avoid an oxen-pulled cart carrying exotic vegetables, he continued into a grand colonnade and up to a heavy-hewn stone door. The inscription above read, 'HERE · THE · COSMOS · DECIDES': the Elections Diocese.

Élien pushed open the door, not too surprised at the long line of office-seekers snaking from one end of the room to the other. Well, it's not like I'm any different, he thought, joining the end of the queue. At least it's not too hot in here.

When he finally reached the Candidacy Desk, a small, stout man (Élien guessed Amerionian) called his name out. "Élien Aureliet, Aumelodia?"

"Yes, here."

"Statement?" The man looked like he could recite this drill in his sleep.

Élien pulled a long SpaceMent scroll from his telefolio, unrolled it, and began to read:

"To the citizens of the galaxy—

I stand here today seeking to become your next Celestial Being; an office so high I would never have believed I would one day aspire to ascend to it. But I believe that the Celestial Being, as the Guiding Force of the Order of the Stars, does have the power to shape the future of our galaxy— perhaps not in its government, but in the knowledge of every life-form of the way of the Celestial Union.

So firstly, we must consider the apolitical nature of the Celestial Being; he is the divine source of the Order, not an executive of the Uniterran government— for that purpose exists the Sovereign. As our Celestial Being, I would step away from partisan divisions in my duties, and affirm the Being's role as separate, and indeed, vastly unrelated.

But what I would make sure to focus on is the spreading of the Word of the Order of the Stars across the galaxy, and to new lands who have only recently established themselves. Although the Archbishop of Culture is responsible for all forms of cultural development in the Union, it is specifically the obligation of the Celestial Being as head of our Cosmarchy to work on development of specifically Celestial Union- and Cosmarchical-related culture. I plan to work with several others from Core Worlds to detail accounts of the Lazarene Galaxy, discuss insights about the Order of the Stars, and especially interpret and publish pieces of the Holy Books of the Cosmic Order.
In general, I would work to encourage and help anyone interested in pursuing the Celestial Union's lore—and to spark an interest and community around the rich history we have.

Another way to do this is to travel to the many new Worlds forming each day on the outer rims— these planets know nothing of the true ways of the Stars, and they should not have to send emissaries all the way to Uniterra to learn. Outer Worlds are equally good scholars and writers; so one important function of the Celestial Being is to bridge the gap and create a connection through lore.

But finally, the most important characteristic of a Celestial Being is to be an active and fun participant in the Union who does not create simply another dead position in our Cosmos. A Celestial Being is not supposed to sit in his tower all day, he is supposed to come down and work with those on the ground. I believe I can do that.

Thank you.
