Trekkies for Destruction Ranked #15 in Nuclear Apocalypse

As it is every April Fool's Day, the NationStates world was beset with a special event last month; this year, a nuclear apocalypse that had NSers forming factions to turn each other into glass. When Equilism's faction—Trekkies for Destruction—was formed by then WAD Small Huts, the region's Nuclear Control Squad was also born. Much like Z-Day 5, the Equilism Discord server was used extensively to plan and coordinate the Nuclear Control Squad's efforts in addition to the RMB. Furthermore, the Nuclear Control Squad's plans were kept restricted to a role-specific channel during the event to prevent any spying.

Mayor Isaris led the Squad with the help of WAD Small Huts and Officer Yakitzland, identifying targets or engaging in diplomacy with other factions while they worked to bring more Equilismers into the fold and keep Equilism's own faction safe on the front lines. In total, an estimated twenty to thirty individuals joined Equilism's Squad, with many of them making use of multiple nations within the faction to maximize resource production. Unfortunately, the Office of Public Relations cannot verify this number as some participants did not join the regional Discord server or identify themselves.

In total, Trekkies for Destruction successfully managed 15,285 strikes and kept a nearly perfect defense throughout the event, suffering only 50 radiation total across the faction. The strikes were landed against targets from 26 various factions, most notably multiple Union of Independent Nations-related factions, whom put up a staunch resistance to our efforts at obliteration. However, Equilism's faction was not without allies and cooperated with Pandamonium (following a brief dispute), Raven Strike (which merged with Trekkies for Destruction) and Forest (temporarily). In the end, Trekkies for Destruction ended the event Rank #15 and one of only two factions in the Top 15 with less than 200 nations. Equilismers everywhere are extremely hopeful that the Nuclear Apocalypse will make a return in the future.

Kurald Emurlahn (Drall) Elected WA Delegate

On April 8th, Kurald Emurlahn (also known as Drall) was elected as the 3rd World Assembly Delegate of the Equilism Township by a vote of 13-5 against opponent Leo Drakan. In his campaign, Drall made reference to his experience in other regions, including in The West Pacific, Equilism's longtime ally. He also won many Equilismers' hearts during the Nuclear Apocalypse serving in our region's Nuclear Control Squad. Since taking office, Drall has studiously attended to his duties and the in-game Delegacy transfer was completed on May 1st with a generous assist from The West Pacific Armed Forces.

While so far WAD Drall has yet to continue WAD Watch (previous WAD Small Huts' telegram-based program detailing WA proposals), he has set a new precedent for the office already by asking Leo Drakan to be Deputy Delegate in his acceptance speech. The new Delegate has also joined up with the Equilism Office of Public Relations and may soon be coming to a region near you as an ambassador. While WAD Drall is certain to have a long road ahead increasing the region's WA participation, things are definitely looking on the upside after this election, which saw a record voter turnout for the Township.

Warzone Europe Liberated with Allied Assistance

In the late hours of April 8th, Warzone Europe (Equilism's protectorate) was invaded by forces from The Grey Wardens. Communication between Mayor Isaris and the commander of the invasion force was quick to be opened, however, and diplomacy won the day as the invaders' commander admitted they had no intent to remain in the region for long. Even with this success, a liberation of Warzone Europe was planned and orchestrated with the assistance of Equilism's allies, including The West Pacific Armed Forces, the North Pacific Army, the Europeian Republican Navy and The Universal Allegiance Marines.

In gratitude of those who came to our aid, Mayor Isaris commissioned the Medal of Solidarity, to be awarded to those foreign military personnel who assist Equilism, as a way to honor this event. So far, these medals have been distributed to recipients via regional off-site forum embassies but as there's been some difficulty tracking down all participants, they will also be distributed again here. Additionally, Equilism would like to thank the NationStates player known as Whitewolfe for the design being used for the medal and remind him that he's always welcome for more than just his yearly visit if he's out there reading this now.

Pact of Non-Aggression Between TUA and Equilism Ratified

Diplomatic relations between The Universal Allegiance and Equilism first took off in October of last year. Both regions participated in the conference leading to the Coalition Against the Ideology of Nazism, which itself led to their first contact. As maintaining good relations with fellow signatories is something we in Equilism feel to be of the utmost importance, when TUA approached with an offer of exchanging embassies during that time, it was quickly accepted. The Office of Public Relations is pleased to announce that the relationship between our two regions has developed further and we have agreed upon a Pact of Non-Aggression, which was ratified by the Township with a vote of 5-0-1 on April 15th. Furthermore, given TUA Marines' participation in Operation: Liberate WZEU, it's likely that this is only the beginning of what could become a glorious alliance.

Communication Venue Administration Act (2017) Passed in Town Hall

It's safe to say that Discord usage has firmly taken root in NationStates' culture. Nearly every serious region has an official server for their community and even NationStates Gameplay and other parts of the on-site forum have their own servers now. Equilism's regional server was first created in September of last year and began to enjoy the acceptance of the community after proving its extreme usefulness during Z-Day 5. However, with its popularity and usage growing, the need to regulate that server and help ensure its existence, safety and technical support are guaranteed was beginning to grow as well.

To pursue this guarantee, Mayor Isaris (the server's owner and then sole administrator) first proposed the Communication Venue Administration Act (2017) on February 28th. This legislation is heavily based on the Europeian Communication Platform Administration Act (2017), to which Mayor Isaris contributed through his input on Discord server administration and moderation to the Europeian Senate as an invited guest of Senator Malashaan in January. Though progress on the Act did stall for some time, it was pushed forward in April with the effort of Town Moderator Leo Drakan and passed the Town Hall 6-0-2 on the 11th.

The legislation legally obligates the server owner, Isaris, to appoint at least one other citizen as an administrator of the Equilism Discord. Isaris's chosen appointee was Badger, former Mayor of Equilism and current World Assembly Delegate of The West Pacific. As an administrator for not only TWP's own server but also for the NSGP server and others, Badger's appointment was met with no objections and many congratulations. The legislation also legally empowers the Mayor to appoint citizens as moderators of the server and so Leo Drakan, Small Huts, Drall, Otis, United Vietussia, Westwind, Whamabama and Yakitzland were officially appointed as such as well.

E-Army Assisting The United Federation of Planets in Upcoming Refound

The United Federation of Planets (TUFoP/the Federation) is a small Star Trek-themed region that's seen rough days due to the absence of its Founder nation. With a shared member in Small Huts (known in TUFoP as Redshirts), the Federation reached out to Equilism and the E-Army some months ago for assistance. After lengthy discussions, it was ultimately agreed that the best option would be to refound the region. As a sign of its support and commitment to the effort, the E-Army moved into the region and endorsed native Andorian Imperialist Guard to become the WA Delegate at the request of TUFoP's government.

Those who've read the OPR's last update may recall the Star Trek Convention that kicked off in March on the Equilism forum and Discord server. While this is drawing to a close, we can finally officially say that the two events were related, with the Convention allowing Equilismers and Federation citizens to interact for the first time while celebrating a franchise dear to the hearts of both regions. With the refounding date drawing closer, any nations in TUFoP which have not registered with security forces will soon face a permanent ban and the region has been placed under the protection of a password. The E-Army is proud to have assisted the Federation in this effort and Equilism is hopeful of what the future holds for relations between our two regions. May we all live long and prosper!

USS Equilism Set to Fly Again Soon

Star Trek Equilism was once the region's longest running role playing experience. With not only an entire subforum dedicated to it but also an entire Wiki page, the role play became a historical part of Equilism's culture and one many veterans remember fondly. At the time of this writing, the subforum is the location of just a bit more than 3,300 posts, which is nearly 10% of the Equilism forum! Naturally, a reboot of this monumental area was one goal of the Star Trek Convention held earlier this spring. With Tarlisea back in Equilism to manage the Wiki, a new crew for the USS Equilism (the starring ship) is nearly fully assembled.

Don't miss out on your chance to boldly go where no one has gone before! Check out Star Trek Equilism and join the crew! Click here to learn more!

Fight for Armello Season 3 Review

The third season of the Township's signature in-game competition, Fight for Armello, was undertaken last month by nine total players from a variety of regions. Unlike in previous seasons, this season our heroes were joined in their journey by a non-player character, Amber the Far Seeker. Traveling across numerous regions and proving themselves to other heroes of Armello, our players finally culminated their story by finding the mystical Wyldfire Staff, before moving on to The Palace of Armello for the final battle. In the end, Bear Clan claimed victory with four regions under their dominion.

May 2017 Town Moderator Election Underway

On May 1st, the Town Moderator Election began. The standing period is set to remain open until the 5th and thus far, one candidate has stood: incumbent Town Moderator, Leo Drakan. If re-elected, this will be Leo's second term as Town Moderator. With one very successful term already under his belt, pushing through legislation and maintaining the Law Library in pristine condition, a defeat here would be truly surprising. If there is no other candidate by the time the standing period has closed, the citizenry will vote whether or not to confirm Leo for a second term. If they do not, the election process will be restarted.
