Loftegen for Sovereign

A special election is upon us, and I am once more running for the office of Sovereign.

What can you expect from me if I am elected? Wacky antics, amusing hijinks, fun polls, and a Sovereign who is actual on and posting every day! Wouldn't that be a pleasant change? Might even spur some activity, which some say has been lacking of late.

Questions are welcome!

As for Lamb's criticism of Loft. He holds very true concerns of Loft's past actions. However, he's descended past the point of providing real criticism for him and is just holding personal attacks on Loft's demeanor. I was pointing out the fact that Lamb wasn't helping any by saying that Loft is trying to "hide" from criticism. This is presumably why Loft responded to him the first couple of times and just stopped after a while.
So it's justified that he refrains from responding or acknowledging anything because I pointed out that he's doing so? And to be clear, just because my observations are blunt, doesn't mean they're by any means personal attacks. That interpretation is really serving to do nothing but attempt to discredit the concerns I've brought up.

If you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen, boo. :giggle:
Do you see what I mean? The ad hominem attack was exemplified right there.

Also, your concerns are real. However, I was responding to your comment that Loft was deliberately avoiding criticism. First off, he didn't. He responded to you the first couple of times, but you constantly repeated the same thing while adding insults.

For example:
Quote:

Yet, you seem to only come out of your hole when you see opportunity for some sort of personal gain. The region has been struggling for some time, yet none of us have seen you come around and supply input or aid in efforts to change things. You instead point fingers and claim everyone else is the problem. Weird. -_-

I have a question for you Loftegen. Assuming you win, would you be willing to work with me and a few other people on revamping Lazarus's military? It's not a point of pride, and that's something having the Sovereign working on would be nice. And if you don't win, would you still do any of the reforms you might do if you won? Or is your plan if you win to retain the status quo?
I see the problem with the military as being 'it isn't fun'. I know people take defending seriously, and I appreciate the sentiment; but that's no reason why the army can't do fun stuff once in a while. Silly, harmless 'raids' on various regions might stir a bit of interest in what otherwise can be a difficult and sometimes disappointing task. Just an idea.

Also, I might write a few articles for the Gazette, if it restarts, or even just to post here in the forums. Silly stuff, like I did back in the day, where I poke fun at everybody (myself included). I have some ideas; I just need to get motivated to do it.

Yeah I think that this has become a big campaign issue. The THI is nothing like the old LLA. I believe that there needs to be a serious revamp on the THI. (A name change won't hurt)

Also, the other Sovereign candidate has said that he is willing to discuss dissolving the THI due to its current state of disrepair. Do you hold the same position or are you absolutely committed to the THI?
I'm not sure why you're focused so much on Funk's comment about THI. It seemed much more like "we need to discuss more about the military, and lay out all our options" than "I'm thinking about shutting it down". You're construing his opinions a bit much, methinks.

As for lamb's criticism of Loftegen, if your nation was illegally ejected from the region and no one did anything about it, would you be upset? If that same person then also changed the whole gameside appearance of the region and refused to cooperate with the legitimate government? Lamb has some pretty legitimate concerns.

@Loft: how can we trust that you'll stay loyal to the elected, rightful government and laws of Lazarus when you've repeatedly broken those very laws and then shrugged them off? A meme or a flippant response doesn't work, we already know you're the most active on the RMB. But Sovereign does not equate to RMB Poster of the Year Award. How can you prove, how do we know, that you'll be a trustworthy and cooperative Sovereign?

I like your ideas, but I can't support you if I can't trust in you as the leader of the region.
Fair questions. Let's see. Back when I first ran for Sovereign, after the whole NLO/Stujenske fiasco, certain people were concerned about my loyalty and trustworthiness. I was elected, and then re-elected, served two terms, and handed power over to my duly elected successor. When Funk brought his case against my appointment of acting officers, I promised to accept the court's ruling, and I did. But, frankly, I can't prove, and you certainly can't know, that I'll be trustworthy and cooperative.

Regarding the banjection of Lamb's nation back in February: I mistook him for one of the interlopers who thrust me into the delegacy. Then I had to go do IRL stuff. By the time I was in a position to learn about my mistake, Kowassati was back in the delegacy, and Lamb'd nation was back in Lazarus. In my mind, the wrong (such as it was) had already been righted.

As for the Great Memefication, that was just a goof. Funk's been bitching about inactivity since my second term, so I thought I'd stir the pot a bit. I assumed (mistakenly, it seems) that the fact that all the Regional Officers remained, and that the links to the forum and Discord were still up, that people would realize that I wasn't serious. If I had been, my first move would have been to banject Funk, and then do away with the forum and Discord access. Could I have handled it better? Sure. Still, I don't believe I did anything wrong, no matter how much Funk freaks out when you change the RMB (St. Patrick's Day 2016 anyone?).

I realize that may not be the answer you wanted to hear, but there it is.

Assuming you meant the WFE, I've gone back through the all of my posts for the month of March of last year, and I don't see any posts directed to you in any way, so you might be mistaken.

I also don't really think I've been "bitching" that much about inactivity, especially not more than anyone else has. I just wanted to work on plans to make things a little more lively around here, and that's what I've been working on recently in the meantime. :)

I could have sworn you posted something on the RMB about being about to complain about (how many times can I use 'about' in this post?) the flag change when you realized what was happening; I am almost fifty, it could be early onset senility! :)

Meh, many have come and gone promising activity, to be a 'good sovereign' or at the very least, attempt to be one. Many of whom have had more detailed plans than yourself and others. I voted for them. And I've been disappointed many times over.

My question is this, with you and Funk both former Sovereigns, what sets you apart and better than Funk in leading - as Head of Government - our region once again?[edit_reason]Spelling mistake[/edit_reason]

Is this what it's come to? Are wacky antics and amusing hijinks from the delegate all we have left?

That's not an unserious question at this point.
I think that part of the problem we face is that certain people take this game too seriously. They ignore, or outright discourage, play styles they don't like. That, and recent Sovereigns simply haven't been very active, in the forums or on the RMB. It takes activity to breed activity; when I was Sovereign I made an effort to be on every day, and to acknowledge and support other people's efforts to play the game their way, rather than trying to get them to play my way. I'm not gonna promise that I will actually fix our 'inactivity problem', but I'll try, and not just by proposing some new government program, but by being active myself.

Really?!!
Still butthurt about that, eh?
