The Dawning of the Celestial Being

Funkadelia for Celestial Being

The people shuffle into the giant, quiet cathedral. Once everyone is settled, an ornately cloaked priest walks on stage silently. As he walks toward the rear-center of the chamber, a button on a stand about the size of his palm rises out of the floor to about elbow height. He reaches out and presses the button, and once he does, it sinks back into the floor. The priest scurries off the stage, and a large holographic looking cloud forms in the main part of the cathedral, within the vaulted ceiling.

An ethereal voice booms:

LAAAAAZAAAARUUUUS...

YOU HAVE FINALLY AWAKENED ME FROM MY SLUMBER.

I have heard your calls. I have felt the rumbling as great temples and armies were constructed in my name. Now that you have learned to transcend your binds to Uniterra, I have decided the time is right to rebuild the Pillar of Heaven and reclaim my place on the cosmic throne. I am here not to rule as a tyrant or a child-king throwing his toys around, but to nurture the interstellar community that you have crafted for yourselves. You started by constructing huts and small buildings, to mega-structures that dared the heavens to tear them down, and now you have begun your search into the stars, it is appropriate to rebuild the Pillar of Heaven that was destroyed so many eons ago and return balance to our realm as you embark on your journey into the cosmos. As I return to my place in the Universe, I shall seek to guide you and protect you against all demons and intruders. During the time ahead, I shall seek to preside over you, not as a paternal being, but as one committed to help you navigate your way through the challenges you will face ahead in your space age. In this, I request your full support and attentiveness through the temples, your officials in the faith, and through the Holy Inquisiton. I shall be in constant contact with not only the Sovereign and the governance of Lazarus, but with the entirety of the populace. With my guiding light, we shall defend the Pillar of Heaven and extend as far as the heavens can take us.

...

NOW BEGONE

The voice echoes through the otherwise completely silent cathedral walls. After an extended period of motionless silence, some of the convened worshipers slowly began to make their way out of building. Everyone seemed to universally acknowledge that the new age was upon them.

So I've decided to run for Celestial Being.

As many of you who frequent our discord have possibly seen, I am really engaged with this new theme that we have adopted. I think with the right stuff, we can make it work really well. My angle on this is that we just immerse ourselves with the lore and atmosphere, and use it to make really crazy propaganda and literature and things like that. I don't think the Celestial Being really should have much of an agenda in terms of regional functions. That is why we elect a Sovereign in the first place. Although I will note here that I believe it is very important to work on how we recruit people from the site to join our off-site communit. For years, our efforts have really been lacking and I think someone or some group of people should really take that issue head on.

In terms of the post above, I firstly want to note that this isn't really anything that has to be taken as if it were set in stone, but I just wanted to write a cool introductory post for what I plan on making my persona to be like in Lazarus during the time ahead, if I am elected. While I understand it may come off as a bit narcissistic, I think all god figures in literature should talk about themselves with the acknowledgment that they hold a lot of power over reality itself. I anticipate the biggest question to be regarding the "Pillar of Heaven" referenced a few times above. It's not an actual tangible object, but I drew a lot of inspiration there from the Chinese goddess 女媧 where the Pillar of Heaven might have been an actual thing in terms of mythology, but was really representative of harmony in the world. That's sort of what I mean it to be. I don't intend on it being some object people revolve around dogmatically.

Anyway, I hope you like my proposition and I will be more than happy to field some questions in this thread.

Amerion said he had the opposite vision for the CB. That the CB should be the one doing the day to day operations, and that the CB was proposed to help alleviate concerns over inactive Sovereigns. I think this intended vision is more visible in Roger's platform, who is an active and effective administrator. If you should win, could you be content to fill the role in this capacity?

We may have had a misunderstanding, but I don't recall saying that the CB should be involved in the day to day operations. Certainly, he or she should be aware of what the government formed in their name is doing, but my impression and indeed, as was my vision for the CB, that the Sovereign run the region.

In line with what you have mentioned, the CB should really just be like the Queen, signing off on things ... and as Funk has gone to depths to describe, the CB should be the focal point of any lore.

The C.B. is head of state, but the Sovereign is head of government. It would help improve the issues we have with inactive Sovereigns, to have the C.B. as expressed in the mandate. The C.B. in the mandate is not the WAD, and power is put mostly into the Cosmic Council.

I disagree with combining the two positions, which would turn the C.B. into a full on King or Queen, and weaken the seperation of powers. Plus if and when the King and Queen goes inactive, we would have even more disfunction than under the last mandate, as the C.B. would have more executive power and be the WAD at the same time.

Certainly combining both is something I would be against amending the mandate to do, as it doesn't only put too much power in one person, but undermine the point of having a C.B. in the first place. The C.B. is important to seperate the powers, and provide a second executive position.

I don't believe anyone has proposed merging those two positions together.

What are your views on our involvement in CAIN, and your opinions on the coalition itself?

I don't feel particularly strong one way or another on the issue, although I am a bit concerned about the latest amendment and the prospect of an established independent leadership.

I also don't feel that many of the group's activities have been properly communicated to the home regions, and that alone is cause for some concern.
