Hi everyone! I'm Aumelodia, your resident Deputy Convenor and now-Candidate for Convenor of the Celestial Union. ^_^

About Me

Well many of you may be sitting there thinking "who in the world is this guy", and you'd be right, because I'm relatively new to Lazarus. I joined on December 19th and have served as Deputy Director of Ceremonies / Deputy Convenor since then. However, I've been active in other parts of NS, and hold/have held the positions of:

  • Minister of Foreign Affairs - [region]Forest[/region]
  • Home Minister - [region]Sweden[/region]
  • Speaker of the Legislature - [region]The Free Nations Region[/region]
I've also been active in defending, leading a defender/restorer org, Solidarity. Elsewhere around you may know me as [nation]Somyrion[/nation] or [nation]Mount Seymour[/nation].

My Goals

What the Cosmic Council needs is new faces. Out of five thousand nations, the only ones who actually vote in the Council are those who either are members of the government or who regularly are active on the forum. We need to get people who are both inactive citizens and not-yet-citizens into the Council chambers and voting on these proposals.

The RMB is an extremely under-utilised resource when it comes to communication and the Council. We have people who post on the RMB regularly but have never registered for citizenship or participated in the legislature. As Convenor, I would use the RMB to advertise the Cosmic Council's goings-on, such as a new proposal up to vote, a discussion in progress, or a new law passed. This limits the number of telegrams sent out, but at the same time alerts thise who are active enough to follow the message board but have never thought to participate elsewhere.

Additionally, in an effort to create more awareness of what's happening in the CC, I would start posting the links to votes in the proposal threads once they are put up to vote so as to decrease the cases such as we had with the most recent (current) bill in which no one voted until a day and 5 hours, more than a wuarter of the voting period, had gone by.

Another way to draw new people in is by involving them in the maintaining and operation of the Council. I became involved in Lazarus because I was taken on by outgoing Convenor Neop as his deputy. I'd like to continue the tradition and get not just more people voting, but also more people in the office. By dividing up subduties, we can streamline the entire legislature.

Finally, my last goal is to make sure the Council stays extremely open and clear to anyone wants to participate. We have to guard against letting the Council slip into confusion, which there has been a lot of over the past few days with th new Mandate. It's true that this size of change is a rare occurrence; however, just as with people, the true measure of a government is when things are hard, and we need to make sure that coupled with efficiency is clarity in all actions.

Why would I make a good Convenor?

I'm already quite familiar with how the Cosmic Council functions, having been Deputy for the past month. I've put a bunch of proposals up to vote and generally been around as much as the Convenor :P and while I still have plenty to get the hang of, I feel confident in my way around the Legislature. My experience elsewhere also has helped, having written the Constitution of the Free Nations Region and effectively creating its legislative system, as well as the Constitution of Sweden. Secondly, I'm active all the time, every day, and I won't be disappearing at all. I read everything that goes on here and on the discord, and I'm always open to suggestions and comments. I don't plan to be political, as what the Council needs in a Convenor is simply someone who can make sure it runs smoothly, functions properly, and grows.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have, just ask! :)

I look forward to this election :D

Though it may not concern the area of the Convenor, what are your views on our involvement in CAIN, and your opinions on the coalition itself?

Well, truth be told, I'm not very familiar with CAIN. I (often purposely) don't read their gameplay forum thread, and I've never taken part in any of their operations.

But from what I gather, CAIN (and consequently our involvement) has become a double-edged sword. I fully support CAIN's motives, and their drive to eliminate such a hateful ideology as Nazism is commendable. But personally, I'm not a fan of raiding, no matter what region it's of. (You may prove me wrong on this) but I doubt there are many, if at all any real OOC Nazis in these Nazi regions. They seem to be mostly people with a horrible sense of what's good to RP. And so I think CAIN's labeling of them and raiding, while justified ideologically, still doesn't sit quite well with me.

As far as Lazarus goes, I feel as though one of these days, something is going to happen in CAIN which causes a major uproar, and I don't want to see Lazarus get caught in it. I support Lazarus's involvement, but with a more cautious approach— we can be the ones to watch out when CAIN may be going too far. Lazarus should make it clear that we fully support the coalition's intentions and will take part— but not so heavily as to be mired in the muck if CAIN falls apart.
