KOWASSATI FOR SOVEREIGN OF THE CELESTIAL UNION OF LAZARUS My fellow Lazarenes, I am proud to announce that I will be running for Sovereign this election cycle. I've been serving as the Vice-Delegate (Grandee Secretary & Defender of the Realm) for two consecutive terms, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. I believe this is the next step in serving Lazarus to the best of my abilities. History has shown me that it is not necessarily what one says, when running for Delegacy, but rather one's recently proven capacity for taking action, that defines them as a candidate. Hopefully my ongoing commitment to working here speaks for itself in that respect and is reassurance that the goals for my candidacy I am about to outline will be accomplished. The past three Delegates promised a lot and, in my opinion, bit off more than they could chew. While I respect their efforts and understand that they may have been overwhelmed by the responsibilities of this position I have to admit that I have been a little frustrated with the unfulfilled promises. I think everyone can agree that we've seen a lot of ambitious and exciting plans fall by the wayside lately and I promise that this will not happen under my administration. I will be approaching this office with these three goals, which I plan to immediately and effectively address: [1.] Zealous activity: The responsibilities involved with being Sovereign will not be taken lightly by me (throughout my entire term). These next 3 months will need constant attention to keep up with constitutional change, regional security, etc. I refuse to be absent for these upcoming challenges, Sovereign or not. And I hope that this consistent activity will inspire my peers to be just as involved in the government and encourage an even higher standard for participation than we currently maintain. You have seen that I can be active in my other roles. I don't plan to suddenly stop once I am elected Delegate. [2.] Stronger communication within the Government and community: So much has happened lately and there still seems to be a general lack of constructive discussion. I aspire to propagate conversation within the Executive and between branches to encourage better collaboration and cooperation between officials and to expedite governmental processions. I love the environment found in this great region and would like to build upon the foundation created by the Celestial Mandate Act. I will make it an initiative to have often (1-2 times a week, but not mandatory :P) a personal gathering amongst officials to discuss short-term goals with a definitive list of what needs work. I also plan to create an easy to read guide that will summarize the key ideas found in the CMA and help new players (and older players) gain a better understanding of how it works. [3.] Foreign Affairs: As Delegate I would review our current list of embassies alongside the rest of the Executive and government to determine if any updates or removals need to be made. I would also strive to improve relations between our region and the other Sinkers: namely, Osiris and Balder. Our feuds with these regions, which could be valuable allies or even friends, are due to old wounds and remaining hostile as a result of actions taken by old regimes is needless and harmful to all involved parties. Furthermore and finally I would like to note that my transition into office will be relatively fast (not that this should be the deciding factor for choosing the Delegate, but it is something that would incidentally work in our favor if you are to choose me), since I am second in endorsements in the region right now, which means I would have more time to build influence and would be able to send regional telegrams sooner. Again, definitely not a deciding factor, but helpful since I will be able to effectively get to work faster. Some Delegates look like they lose momentum during the transition period after a hard-fought campaign. As always, I know Lazarus will make the right decision this election, even if that decision is choosing a candidate that the region feels is more fit, and I am honored to be a part of it! As you've been in the government for the past two cycles, what are your thoughts on bringing new ideas and people into the government, as opposed to appointing people who've been in the government for some time, such as yourself? Do you have any plans in order to increase the amount of new people in the government? |

Great question! I want more ideas in the government and I do agree with newer faces, but ones that have the experience and ideas needed. My appointments will be based on what position needs filling since certain offices can be great stepping stones while others need a little more effort. I will work with fresh faces by semi-mentoring nations that are interested. |

I'm curious, what has stopped you from pushing for these things earlier? Was your position utterly powerless? Are you worried the next person to take your old position will have a different agenda then you? How are you going to promote fun, activity, and fix the military? |

My position wasn't powerless, just lacked certain aspects. The position of Grandee Secretary was a good one, but being Sovereign gives one the chance to not only state new ideas, but to execute good ideas. The issues we face are fairly new and I plan to use the momentum of the CMA to work with the community so we can have some real fun. I also want more festivities, which I will gladly create and host and, as Sovereign, oversee effectively. The LLA (Holy Inquisition) will be another priority for me. I plan to send a ton of regional telegrams to promote growth. |

Since you brought up festivities, do you have any experiance in deep RP or writing? Have you worried in the Ministry in Interior? I'm glad to hear that you will be growing the LLA, but what direction do you want it to go? More CAIN? More Fenda or Raider? |

I have written somewhat decent RP factbooks: Galactic Union of New Kowassati Kowassati General Info Festivals will also be a good place for RP to be created and might get the ball rolling Since Lazarus isn't necessarily defender any longer I will seek to find a balance that will best fit Lazarus's needs. |

Condemn the CAIN: [AGAINST] It is a terribly written condemnation and I support CAIN. Commend Renaissancistic People: [FOR] Judging by what was written on the proposal, I believe he is deserving. Commend Brunhilde:[MAYBE LATER] Brunhilde told me that he/she wanted to wait before this comes to pass. Repeal of "Condemn DEN":[FOR] Another terrible proposal riddled with factual errors ----Liberate Eternal Scholars & ----Liberate Social Liberal Union: I vote For on most liberations because they are necessary to keep small regions free from either raiders, Nazis, etc. Repeal of "Condemn The Pacific":[FOR] I was at first reluctant on this, most of what I heard about the NLO gave me chills, but since the New Pacific Order no longer harbors the gang of five and wishes to make amends for their actions I decided to vote for. Edit: Didn't mean to put For on Condemn Cain obviously haha Edited by Kowassati, Jan 30 2017, 03:15 AM.

Thank you for the answers. If I may, a couple follow-up questions:
In the case of Eternal Scholars, they were re-invaded while a repeal of the liberation was at vote. The question was more to do with your view on when is the appropriate time to repeal a liberation, if ever. And would you have supported a second liberation proposal if the repeal had gone through? In SLU's case, the raiders drafted the proposal for the liberation. The natives also drafted a proposal around the same time, but it did not gain enough traction to reach quorum. The natives of SLU sent out a campaign spam against the liberation which went to vote. Which proposal would you have supported? Maybe both? How would you vote on a liberation which may offer praise to the raiders?
What are your thoughts on the Independence Manifesto and the general impact of "independent alignment" on the game?
Do you believe DEN is deserving of a condemnation, if there was a better proposal on offer? |
