Let's Bring Lazarus Back. Welcome, welcome! I'm Ikania (that's pronounce Ih-khan-eea), but most people call me Ike. I'm running for Sovereign of Lazarus (Delegate) because I believe that with your help and my vision, we can forge a new, better and more relevant Lazarus. Our region has been swept to the sidelines of Gameplay for going on two years now. We haven't been relevant since the last coup, and before that we were still irrelevant. One of the focuses of my campaign is to craft a better foreign policy for Lazarus, one that gives us a place in GP and a role to play, as a thriving region with a vibrant culture, and a will to do good. I want to capitalize on our recently growing activity and take advantage of our new government structure to hammer out a solid lore for the Celestial Union, one more in touch with our Chinese-style roots. More About Me The Specifics I've decided to give a brief summary of my platform in relevant areas, so you can get an overview of my plans. Find enclosed my agenda for our region. And most importantly, do please ask any questions you have! I can get as in-depth as you need on any of these issues. Foreign & Military Policy Culture and Integration Please ask as many questions as you have, don't feel compelled to keep your mouth shut. I look forward to an exciting campaign and a lively vote. Cheers! - Ike |

I believe we only have in-game embassies at this moment. I'd like to formalize that arrangement a bit more. Edited by Ike, Jan 29 2017, 11:50 PM.

I'll ask you the same question I asked Kowassati. As someone who has been around for a while, what are your thoughts on bringing new people into the government, and how do you plan on doing this? I do, however, see you did mention recruitment for the LLA out of the new potential people, how do you plan on doing this? |

Well, I do believe in a significant amount of outreach. We can't rely on old blood forever, and getting fresh meat into the government is important, especially if they have the right skills, mindset and dedication. I came to Lazarus with nothing but UCR dwelling and roleplay, and made a career out of my sheer will and work. I want every Lazarene to have that opportunity. Recruitment is an important part of this. Think of it like how major sports teams wouldn't have the players they do without talent scouts. We don't need to recruit so much from other regions as we do from our own. We have over 5000 nations in our region, but only so many on the forum. I've talked to some of the newer people around here, for example, Kondratev, who definitely have that spark in their eye and the effort to spare in helping our region. We should be on the prowl for these kinds of people, promoting, encouraging and spurring them on so that they can contribute their maximum potential to Lazarus and make our region great. This will be in addition to more general drives, like region-wide telegrams or RMB encouragement for residents to become forum citizens and contribute to our region. There's a load of potential among us here in the region. It only has to be sought to be realized. The biggest problem with LLA recruitment has been that all the active Gameplayers here are taken already. For example, I'm a member of Firehelm, Altmoras is a high ranker in the Grey Wardens, Funk belongs to LWU, etc etc. Instead of trying to draw R/D elite, we should try and bring people who aren't already involved into the game. That will go hand-in-hand with LLA recruitment. All that's needed is a bit of an introductory and some training, which I know we can provide, to create a focused corps of new soldiers. |

I have a defense question. What are you going to do to prevent what happened in the past, when this region was made a puppet and then colonized? I would like to know. |

The NLO coup occurred before regional officers were implemented as a game feature. Back then, only endorsements could decide who got to coup and who didn't. The start and end of it were both determined by the simple will of the people occupying the seat. We all have Kazmr to thank for our freedom. Nowadays, a coup would be near-impossible with the amount of high-influence, high-endorsement nations who can oppose it. Two regional officers already have border control power. This means it would take a lot more than one person to entrench a coup. If a Sovereign wished to take over by his will alone, he'd find himself fast out of influence just after going through a few opposing nations. I have the utmost confidence in the security of our region. And if you know me, you know I'm a staunch democrat. I would never sell us out to the NPO like Stujenske did. |

So you say you won't sell us out to the NPO, but you want to get closer to the NPO? Or are there more then one NPO? I see that they have a new goverment, what is so different about this one? The people that I know who were involved in the last coup, still have a degree of power there. |

I'll have to defer to Matthew 18:22 on that. The good will between our two regions is there. Aleisyr is a trustworthy person who does not share the imperialistic ambitions of the people who seized our region, who hadn't even given the contemporary Emperor any forewarning of the action either way. The coup was thrust upon the NPO, not sought by them. There is a clearly demarcated line between friendly relations and puppeteering. I have friends in the NPO, and so do many of you. There are good folks there who can prove valuable when the time comes. The Pacific itself has already set out its doctrine of sovereignty in the aftermath of all that, and it's quite Westphalian. I believe it's time to accept their apologies and move on, no? |
