Altmoras for Sovereign
It's about damn time isn't it?

Introduction

Hey there! By now I’m assuming that most of you know me. However I’ll take this time to introduce myself for posterity. My name is Altmoras, I joined Lazarus in March of this year after reviving my four years inactive main nation. Shortly after I became active on our offsite forum, Amerion nominated me to run for the vacant Speaker of the House position, I won the election in a landslide and it was off to the races from there. Since then I’ve done quite a few things here in Lazarus. I’ve been/am; three term Speaker of the House, a writer for the Gazette, an ambassador to our friends and allies, an officer in our army, the creator of our Discord, a games host for our fall festival, a Security Council Author, an advisor to several Sovereigns, and a very prolific spammer, among other things. Now, I’d like to be your next Sovereign.

Conclusion

I ended up in Lazarus by a combination of luck and happenstance, originally I only stayed because I couldn’t find an RP region that would let me and my ridiculously large RP nation in. But there was something about this place, something I fell in love with. I became a major staple of our regional government, and shortly after I went out and became a Gameplay Power Player ™ (Ew right?), despite this though, despite everything I’ve done in the Wardens and elsewhere Lazarus has always been my home. In fact, everything I’ve done in the past 6 months has been in preparation for being the best Sovereign I can be. Right now, not only do I think that I am ready for the position, I think I’m exactly what Lazarus needs right now, a strong, active leader with a clear plan. So vote for me, I’ll probably be really good at it. :)

Also AMA.

Signed,

Sorry for the novel, it just kind of happened :P

Expect revisions as I alter ideas/add new ones, also expect fixes on some of the terrible run on sentences.

You have positions in quite a few military organizations. What are your plans for those if you are elected?

If two orgs seems like quite a few I suggest you ask Yuno how many orgs she's in sometime.

Obviously I can't update, but at the stage I'm in my actual WA and the not inconsiderable skill I possess in deploying it are only a small part of the value I provide to the Wardens. My strategic and tactical command abilities, along with my triggering abilities provide far more than one more guy at update. As such I don't plan on stepping back from the Wardens any more than I already have since becoming immobile in preparation for this election.

As for the LLA, as an Officer I am in the unique position of being able to issue operational commands to the LLA as the Sovereign if I so desired. However I would like to mostly step back from the everyday running of the LLA in order to focus on higher level development of the army and the region as a whole. The LLA isn't really big enough right now for the Grand Commandant to need any additional help. If the GC went inactive for some reason I would step in, but other than that I'll mostly be leaving the day to day LLA be.

It's a really comprehensive plan - I love it :D

Some questions though:
1) How do you plan to reduce the likelihood of a burnout as Sovereign? It's a problem that the past few Sovereigns have suffered from - likely because they were handling way too much stuff during their terms. Do you have any people in mind that you wish to appoint to head the various aspects e.g. form committees, etc.?

2) Are there any plans for the Gazette?

I must say, this is easily one of the better campaigns I have seen in my time here. I do have a couple of questions if you wouldn't mind.

1) Could you please provide a 'conflict of interests' list? One which details all regions or organisations (military or otherwise) which you have or currently are involved in.

2) Osiris, a fellow sinker region and one which has had a colourful history with Lazarus, is currently experiencing a revitalisation effort by its new administration led by Adytus. As part of his agenda is a detente with Lazarus. Ady and the Pharaoh of Osiris, NK, has since made friendly overtures to myself and others in government. Considering the new political climate in Osiris, how will your administration approach that region?

3) Understandably, your foreign policy is at this time brief. However, in general, how do you view each of the other sinkers and could you please detail a potential approach you would take for each one?

4) With regards to CAIN, we are part of a larger organisation which at times may pursue a policy which Lazarus may disagree with (such as designating an ally of Lazarus as a Nazi-region). Would you take an active stance which makes clear the position of Lazarus or will you seek to follow the consensus of the organisation?

5) Former sovereign Starberry made a well-known declaration that any minister who became inactive (the irony) or was not performing at acceptable levels would be sacked. Do you pledge to take the same position as Star did?

6) While you have identified a number of theoretically-sound proposals for recruiting, what is your view on recruiting in UCRs and GCRs?

1) How will you balance military responsibilities, RL, and working on activity? By this I mean, a larger military role could mean less emphasis on internal activity and more on other regions, which might not help our own problems with inactivity. While the FRA was an organization here many respected, in the end it didn't do much for Lazarus when it began its final decline, and the concern that could be raised here is that expanding the LLA would mean over-extending it or re-creating a sort of FRA, only for it to become logistically too difficult to manage.

2) Lower activity in the final months of the year, seems to be a constant in Lazarus, if not NS, so when the new year comes, how do you plan to take advantage of that higher activity?

In regards to general stuff.

Citizenship: The policy Amerion has towards citizenship was adopted at my suggestion, so overall I’m quite happy with it. However I would like to implement proper admin checks for new citizens, along with adding a bit of “adspace” letting people know what they can do in Lazarus at the bottom of citizenship applications.
This isn't to do with the campaign but more existing admin stuff, but new or existing members do get a PM whenever the citizenship mask is applied:
Quote:

Congrats on becoming a citizen of Lazarus and joining the Grand Assembly!

Please read the topics below, if you want to learn more about our region:
What do I need to do to keep my citizenship?

Once you have citizenship it is pretty easy to keep, so long as you keep a nation in the region, and tell us when the nation you have in the region changes.

If you don't tell us, and your nation Ceases to Exist (or CTE's) or you no longer have a nation in Lazarus, then your citizenship will be removed until you reapply with a nation that resides in Lazarus. The keeping a nation in Lazarus requirement may be wavered however, if you are in the Lazarene Liberation Army (LLA) on active duty.
Previously we had a PM that was sent whenever someone registered, but the script is no longer compatible with Zetaboards.

This is the current text that exists under the citizenship app, though it could be made into several images, and expanded upon:
Quote:

You might consider reading 'The Regional Guide to Lazarus' and learn more about the region, while your application is being processed. Also, don't forget to create an introduction thread at the Pass of the Jade Gate - it helps us learn more about you!

Ideally the duties of the Sovereign should be an exercise in delegation where most of the heavy lifting is done by the cabinet members and their staff. I'm sure it won't be that easy in a region with so few active members, but I remain unconcerned about burnout from myself.

I'll certainly attempt to provide direction to the Gazette, but you can't really force anything out of it. One of my first orders of business will be getting the Minister Herald and the Gazette writers together to write our Foreign Update.

Regions Where I am a citizen/member.
The North Pacific (Citizen)
The South Pacific (Legislator)
Europeia (Citizen)
Renegade Islands Alliance (Citizen)
The Order of the Grey Wardens (High Constable, Senior Warden)

If you think Adytus and New Kervoskia are friends to Lazarus I suggest you read this: http://pastebin.com/RkLfRjdz It's a big wide world out there and Osiris is only a tiny, unstable, hostile part of it that I don't plan on wasting my breath on. I'll certainly be polite, but one should merely take a gander at the Lazarus-Osiris Non-Aggression Pact and the dumpster it now sits in if you think that any strong lasting bond can be formed between our regions. Now I know that doesn't sound very optimistic, but at some point we have to acknowledge the reality of the situation.

My position on Osiris is above.

As for TRR, they are one of our closest allies and friends who we already have multiple treaties with, I'm actually the serving ambassador to TRR right now. I'd love to see more active cooperation between our regions, but frankly they're quite inactive right now.

Regarding Balder, they haven't liked us very much over the past few years, and we haven't liked them much in return. However, we've finally stopped giving each other the silent treatment and we have embassies now. I could envision a further thaw in our relations and it is something I would happily work towards, but at the same time it's not an issue that can really be forced, last I checked a lot of folks over there are still salty about being purged from the region way back whenever the hell that was.

If an ally of Lazarus is designated as a full blown Nazi region then we've entered the darkest timeline. I simply don't see a plausible scenario in which that could possibly happen.

I permanently delete entire channels on our Discord when they become inactive, I have no problem taking the "Starberry Approach" to inactivity. :P

There's a policy that The North Pacific has regarding this which I find interesting, they don't recruit like UCRs do, but when their region is targeted by more taboo recruitment methods ie; recruiting people other than new foundings they target the regions that do it for recruitment telegrams of their own in retaliation. In the current climate that's about the only outside recruitment we're going to be able to do without facing serious diplomatic blowback.

At this juncture, "expanding the LLA" means "make it so the LLA has more than 3 active members", not "create FRA 2.0". TGW is also at the stage where there are a lot of good people who can run the every day operational aspects, I just have to be there for the higher level stuff. I'm actually anticipating a lessening of my workload if I step away from military GP and step into the shoes of the Sovereign.

This is already pretty well covered in the integration bit, I want to get as many people doing as many things as they like as I can.

I'm glad to see you don't plan on going back on our strong stance against the Osiran administration. It means a lot to me.

As an active Balderite and an elected member of the legislature, I welcome you to try and improve ties. The people around are very friendly and I think everyone would gain from a Balder-Lazarus friendship.

With Osiris or The Pacific for the that matter, an embassy exchange is about as far as Lazarus should go at this point. We don't have to (or need to) be openly hostile, but we don't have to hide attitudes and be best buds either.

Osiris has always had internal issues though, whether you are talking about the previous government or the current one. But I don't think they would seek a military solution to the problems with the Osiris-Lazarus relationship, treaty or no treaty.

Balder is more likely to be cordial to be honest, and there is no reason why Lazarus couldn't do something equivalent to a cultural event with them in the future.
