Hello fellow Lazarenes! I am Rybeck II, better known as Katie , and I am here today to pitch my candidacy for Sovereign of Lazarus! Now, I know what you're thinking: "But Katie, didn't you just recently resign from all your positions and stated that you'd leave Lazarus?". Yes I did, and I will say something that many people don't like to say: I was wrong. I was very wrong to think that I wasn't capable enough to be active in this region and in other regions, and I was very wrong to resign from any position I was holding. I have had much fun in this region, and I only want to make it better. I have made up my mind once and for all. Heck, even if I do decide to leave again, I promise all of you that I will wait out my term before leaving. I won't be like previous Sovereigns, resigning in the middle of their terms.

Now, since we've gotten that out of the way, I want to outline the plans I have for Lazarus. I don't aim to be a giant visionary that wants to reconstruct Lazarus from the bottom up, but I do have some things I'd like to get done:

  • Firstly, I'd like to collaborate with the good people of this region to write a new Constitution, one that will stay in place for as long as possible. As much as I enjoy the constant theme changes of Lazarus, and as much as I'd like us to have an Emerald Republic of Lazarus, I feel like it is time to settle down and have a nice, wholesome, plain theme. We need something that the citizens of Lazarus can look to for stability and not be concerned that in a couple weeks the whole system might be different.

  • Secondly, I'd like to work with the Archdiocese of the Interior (or whatever it is called at that point), to help in getting people involved. I have a long history with outreach, and I feel that if we push hard for outreach initiatives, we will become more active, and more activity means more choices for a strong government. This, as Aumelodia has also mentioned, will include more involvement gameside.

  • Thirdly, I want to push for an independent, unbiased, and external investigation into the actions of Funkadelia and his friends. As much as I aim to be unbiased in the matter, I have said some things about the other side that undoubtedly lean towards the side of the resistance. We need a group of people to come together and look objectively at the laws of Lazarus at the time of the incident, investigate into what actually happened, and report back to us with their results. This, I feel, is the best course of action for this coup business, instead of bickering back and forth like opposing tribes.

  • Finally, I want to work with the Archbishop of the Interior to revitalize the Lazarene Gazette. It has been a long time since I've heard anything from the newspaper, and years since they've posted in their NS++ forum. I think a newspaper would really increase activity and involvement here in Lazarus. We can take many lessons from other regional newspapers like the Rejected Times and the various newspapers in the South Pacific.

Many of these things might take a lot of work and a lot of time to accomplish, and I am perfectly willing to do what it takes to make this region as great as it can possibly be. Remember, you can always ask me questions if you have them, and god speed Lazarus!

I'm not sure how I'll vote yet, but I like your platform. It's refreshing to see someone with plans besides retaking the delegacy. :)

In terms of military, although Lazarus has historically allowed for the raiding of warzones, I feel that we should stick to a strictly defender policy. If we want to start raiding things, we ought to become independent, but otherwise we should disallow the raiding of warzones.

In terms of culture, I think we should be collaborating internally and externally to come up with fun events that citizens of Lazarus will enjoy. Things like ejection contests, fun polls, spam games, etc etc. If we cooperate as a government to do these things, I think that activity will rise.

What will you do as Sovereign to ensure that people will want to support the legitimate Celestial Union over the Undead Dominion?

Well that seems quite easy to me. We sumply lay out an unbiased and logical argument as to what laws Funkadelia and his friends broke. We look at laws, evidence, etc. and put it somewhere that everyone can see it. If someone asks what side they should support, we show them our results. I trust that citizens follow logic.

Haha yes. We should put Funk and his friends in a region and have them fight to the death. Wouldn't that be fun? :P

Some questions for you that will influence my vote:

What does the future of the military look like for you?

What, in your mind, are the Sovereign's duties?

Would you consider starting a recruitment program?

How can citizens ensure regional activity?

The future of the LCA for me looks bright. As the Officer Preceptor, I've had the chance to train the new people who come in, and almost all of them have said that they love it in the LCA. I think that as long as we keep recruiting and having a welcoming spirit, everything will go well. Additionally, I think that we should start doing more independent operations as opposed to doing them all in Libcord. This might gain us more respect as a force of defenderdom.

In my mind, the Sovereigns duties are to manage the region and its government, to make sure that everything is running correctly and that the machinery of our region is running smoothly. More importantly though, the Sovereign also serves as the region's "logo" if you will, or the thing that represents the region and its citizens to the entire world and to itself internally. I aim to be both of these things as well as I can.

I would not consider starting a recruitment program unless activity is definitely low. The fact that Lazarus is a Sinker means that we have a constant influx of new nations, unlike a GCR like The Rejected Realms or any UCR. It isn't necessary to take nations from other GCRs that could use those citizens, in my opinion, and I feel like we should be giving those people to UCRs, TRR, and the other Feeders. That being said, I think that if our activity takes a dive, then we should definitely begin a recruitment program.

Well, since we already have a few active citizens in our ranks, I feel that the way we can have citizens ensure regional activity is by setting an example in front of the rest of us. We should all be as active as we can on the RMB and the Forums, and we should welcome people who post for the first time on either venue. I feel that if we set an example, others will follow suit.
