Non-Stop: Constie for Defender of the Realm Hello Lazarus, I am running for Defender of the Realm, a position I have looked at for a while because I believe it has potential that can be unlocked. We could be doing so much more with that position that we don't do right now. Lets do a break down of the Defender of the Realm's current duties vs what it could be: Vice World Assembly Delegate: This area of the job describes itself. The Defender of the Realm should have the second most Endorsements in the region. However, this could be a position with much more importance. What it could be: The Vice Delegacy could be used as an Ambassador to the WA position where we can set World Assembly policy and coordinate with other regions and WALL to form a voting block, increasing our WA influence. Adviser to the Sovereign: The Defender of the Realm also serves as an adviser to the Sovereign, another job that explains itself. This could also be so much more. What it could be: The Defender of the Realm could act as a Sovereign's Chief of Staff, coordinating with the Ministers on objectives, planning, and execution while the Sovereign can dictate broad policy. This would help relive the load on the Sovereign's back while allowing the Defender of the Realm to become a vital part of the team. Now that we've covered the roles of the Defender of the Realm, lets see what else it could do -The Defender of the Realm can and should be a cultural figure. The Defender of the Realm should reach out and handle gameside integration, in conjunction with the Archbishop for the Interior. This would also relieve the strain on the Sovereign. -The Defender of the Realm should act as a guide for new Lazarene nations, allowing them to thrive and adjust to their new setting. -The Defender of the Realm would be a key piece in the implementation of a plan I have: the Lazarene Civil Service (LCS). Under the LCS system, employment opportunities would be made for each Archdiocese and would allow people to get involved in our regional government quickly, and allow for more upwards mobility. The Defender of the Realm would be in charge of processing these applications and making sure that everything is organized. You've heard my plans, now let me show you why I'm fit to be Defender of the Realm. In my time on NationStates, I have had positions in alot of places. Let me let my resume attest to this: Republic of Channel Island: Founder President x1 Secretary of State x1 Speaker of the Regional Assembly Lazarus: Chief Justice Defender of the Realm x0.1 Guardian Deputy Director of Ceremonies/Deputy Convenor x2 Ambassador to the Pacific Ambassador to the East Pacific The Universal Allegiance: Emergency Forum Administrator Minister for Foreign Affairs Europeia Deputy Minister for World Assembly Affairs Deputy Citizens' Assembly Chair Senate Aide Law Clerk ERN Volunteer Midshipman As you can see, I've have tons of experience in many different places, executive leadership, legislative experience, judicial experience, foreign affairs experience, military, and even forum administration experience. If I am elected, all my experience, all my lessons learned, will be used to assist me, and I will use this experience to help me implement policy to make the Defender of the Realm a valuable position in the Celestial Union. Oh, and one more thing... I never explained what the Non Stop title to this campaign thread meant. It is a reference to the Hamilton title of the same name. In it, Alexander Hamilton finds time to be a Delegate to the Constitutional Convention, be a full time lawyer, write 51 Federalist papers, and raise a family. I used Non Stop as a title because I am ready and willing to put in the same amount of effort for this region, and I think that it is important for me to do so, because I want to bring guidance to the Office of the Defender of the Realm. I'm not sure that I want a cultural shift, so much as a structural shift, because I believe that the Defender of the Realm can do so much more to assist the Sovereign. So to assist the Sovereign, we of course need help from the Sovereign. A lot of this policy will come from working with the Sovereign, creating a stronger bond with the Sovereign, which is a very, very good thing. For just myself alone working to make the Defender of the Realm more prominent will include publicizing the position a lot more, in the form of weekly updates and other ways to connect with the citizenry. Ask me anythings, social events, making sure that the Defender of the Realm is a part of our culture. |

A commendable platform. I have just two questions to ask. The one that first comes to mind is the reason why you were forced out of Lazarus in the first place. If I recall correctly, you went on a rant in another Discord server about how you only wanted to become delegate of Lazarus (if only for a short time), and that you joked (I hope) of couping the region ...... which is rather ironic, considering our present circumstances. Nevertheless, could you please explain your actions? If you would be so kind, I'm not familiar with your service in Europeia. Could you provide more details please? |

Why is it good for the Defender of the Realm to create a stronger bond with the Sovereign, an office that is a potential security threat to the region that the DotR may have to check? The Defender of the Realm is the most prominent check on the potential of the Sovereign to stage a coup and is uniquely set to focus on security matters in the region. I've never understood why people have wanted to make the position into some sort of Vice-Sovereign-like office, and I have to admit I understand it even less now given recent events. |

To answer you first question, I snapped because of bullying from Funkadelia and Lamb. I was really, really upset with my treatment at their hands, and it's a part of the reason why I returned, because I saw the warning signs of a possible coup.
Well these are two different things. In regards to government working together, the DoTR and the Sovereign should be more linked. In terms of security, the DoTR should be a stronger position relative to the Delegate. One of the reasons why Funkadelia was able to coup was because of the large endorsement gap between the Sovereign and the Guardians. |

Oh! Sorry about that! I served as Deputy Chair of the Citizens' Assembly and a Deputy Minister for World Assembly Affairs. I didn't do anything of note there, but I did some odd jobs, Assistant Minister and the like. |
