I have always thought of myself as a Lazarene. I may be a citizen of other regions but first and foremost, I am a Lazarene. It is a badge of honour I have worn proudly for two and a half years and one which I humbly hope to continue wearing. We are nice to one another. We are genuinely kind to members, old and new. We are still the community I fell in love with. I cherish this region and her people. Yet, I am sad. I am sad that we face this challenge. The regime would have us branded as traitors but I do not see actions of love as treacherous, let alone ones which are, by every definition, legal. So, in that sadness, there is hope, and from it, happiness; happiness that we are united, banded together by our affinity for this community and the democratic values she seeks to represent. And so I must insist that we resist attempts to silence this majority of friends. That we resist by persisting in our friendship. That we spite Funk, Lamb, and Killer Kitty by being better than their proxy state in every shape or form. Whether it be in the culture we foster, in the role-plays we delve into, or the laws we pass. Spite them by continuing to be good, to be kind, and to be free. |

I know this is going to sound counter-productive, but I have some advice for the government-in-exile and the community...don't make this about the delegacy. As nice as it would be to return the delegacy to the legitimate government, we should understand that the delegate can't stop the legitimate government from doing anything that actually matters. Can't even stop people from posting on the RMB or sending telegrams to the region. Instead, make this about what we can accomplish and achieve, focusing on what we do have, such as the support of dozens of people and many other communities outside the region. Make this about building an amazing community, grounded in the principles of fairness, openness, honesty, and civility. Make this about building something that will endure and grow weeks, months, maybe even years into the future. Make this not about the Delegate, but about the people, and in doing so make this into the community and the government that Lazarus deserves. Whatever happens with the Delegacy, I don't think you can go wrong doing that. They may have the region, but we have the power to do this. It's up to us to make it count for something. |
