*The Merchant Federation was always looking for new trade partners and extending its number of friendly nations, as the threat of DEN and its coalition against the Merchant Federation was becoming clearly more and more visible.*

*Through diplomatic communiqués, it have been decided of an entrevue between MF representatives and Uniformitarians. Even if it was clear that the Republic of Uniformitarian was entirely neutral on the international scene, the Merchant Federation was hoping to open a new market to allow companies of both nations to develop and expand.*

*For this mission, the Vice Doge for Trade, Elena Djine was chosen, as she had many experiences of negotiations and managed to allow the opening of about 20 nations to the Merchant Federation economy. She understood the needs of these negotiations and to research new loyal trade partners, as in the east, Gondor, Unirel, DEN, Sherydan, all of these nations were threatening Merchant Federation economy and market.*

*She had a discussion with the Protector in Genova City, where his Excellence was negotiating with the 8 Members States about the future of the Merchant Federation. She take off from Genova City Central Airport to Gracegard where some hours later her plane landed. The door of the plane opened on the tarmac.*

Long live the Merchant Federation,

*Elena was surprised, generally people were complicated and wanted amendments or to debate during 3 hours about one point. But it was perfect, she could appreciate Uniformitarian gastronomy without having to think about the negotiations. She started talking, but had a bit of difficulties to know what to say.*

Vice Doge for Trade Elena Djine

- Well your Honour... I mean, if your Excellence and his advisors have no issues with the draft as it is... I see nothing to say, I'd be honoured. I have the authority to ratify the said treaty in the name of the Order of Commerce, our Parliament.

*She took two files, and signed each others in the name of the Order of Commerce. Following that, she gave the two files to His Excellence with a great smile and being glad, with file one for Uniformitarian and one for the Merchant Federation. After doing that, she asked for the same food as His Excellence, in order to taste.*

Sigmundr was pleased and ate his meal as he thought about how to convince the Parliament to ratify the treaty once he signed it. Uniformitarian was notoriously neutral in world affairs, and even signing a trade treaty with the MF could ruin the balance that his predecessors had so nicely set up.

"I can sign the treaty with the authority vested in me by our Constitution, but the treaty must be approved and ratified by our two houses of Parliament, which may not be entirely easy. I see that the MF is in the thick of international affairs, while Uniformitarian prefers to stay neutral. I personally don't think that this treaty does any harm. However, we will have to see what the Parliament says on the matter. I will sign it and turn it over to the Parliament for debate and approval."

Sigmundr pulled out a pen from his shirt pocket and signed the treaty and stamped the Office of the Grand Chancellor's seal on the paper, officially notarizing the document for Uniformitarian records.

"We will notify the Merchant Federation as soon as the treaty is ratified, my friend. Is there anything else you with to discuss?"

*Elena smiled and started eating Uniformitarian gastronomy food*

Vice Doge for Trade Elena Djine

- Your Honour, regardless of how it finish and if the treaty is accepted or not, please accept my great thanks for having agree to received me here and allowed me to taste some Uniformitarian Gastronomy.

We understand your neutrality, and wouldn't wish that such treaty would affect it, as threats within this world are reals. It is a fact that the Merchant Federation is involved within a crisis, to defend its honour and its interests. Even if I do not see how our treaty could threat your neutrality, as I am partial in this affair, I don't think I am the best to listen to.

*She didn't really knew how to deal with that, she knew that probably it could fail as the MF is directly threaten of war, and naturally Uniformitarians would ask how does it impact them, and to that she couldn't answer. Never say no to opportunities, for her, if the treaty wasn't ratify by the Parliament, it was maybe the sign that a more light treaty would be needed or that Uniformitarian would be a future market maybe, one day.*

*She remembered the first time with the Morelander, they didn't had that attraction towards neutrality, but were very suspicious, and she concluded that the best would be to let things go, like it did with Morelanders, after all the trade could still pass through both nations, just that there would be a little tax for passing..*
