*The Merchant Federation was always looking for new trade partners and extending its number of friendly nations, as the threat of DEN and its coalition against the Merchant Federation was becoming clearly more and more visible.*

*Through diplomatic communiqués, it have been decided of an entrevue between MF representatives and Uniformitarians. Even if it was clear that the Republic of Uniformitarian was entirely neutral on the international scene, the Merchant Federation was hoping to open a new market to allow companies of both nations to develop and expand.*

*For this mission, the Vice Doge for Trade, Elena Djine was chosen, as she had many experiences of negotiations and managed to allow the opening of about 20 nations to the Merchant Federation economy. She understood the needs of these negotiations and to research new loyal trade partners, as in the east, Gondor, Unirel, DEN, Sherydan, all of these nations were threatening Merchant Federation economy and market.*

*She had a discussion with the Protector in Genova City, where his Excellence was negotiating with the 8 Members States about the future of the Merchant Federation. She take off from Genova City Central Airport to Gracegard where some hours later her plane landed. The door of the plane opened on the tarmac.*

Long live the Merchant Federation,

Grand Chancellor Sigmundr Arnsson was a very intimidating man, at least in his appearance. His piercing eyes and his long beard hearkened to his ancestors, the Horse-Lords and kings of old. He was, however, a very warm and inviting man. Arnsson and a large Uniformitarian delegation had agreed to host and meet the Merchant Federation's representatives to discuss the possibility of trade between both nations. Sigmundr and his delegation were at the airport as Vice Doge for Trade Elena Djine landed and came out of the plane door along with more of her entourage. Sigmundr stepped forward to greet Elena with a warm smile crossing his face.

"Welcome, Vice Doge, to the Republic of Uniformitarian. It is an honor to have you in my country as my honored guest. I look forward to discussing trade and other economic topics with you here."

*Even if with over time she was getting used to establish new diplomatic relations, she always got that feeling that things can go wrong at any time, wishing that her legs don't let her fall, her hands don't let her do something stupid... Fortunately for her it never happens, but still, in her head the fear was there*

*She slowly advanced towards the Grand Chancellor with a great smile, arrive to him, shack their hands*

Vice Doge for Trade Elena Djine

- Thank you your Excellence. Please understand how much I am thankful to being received here and how much this honour the Merchant Federation. The Protector himself send his regards to the Republic of Uniformitarian in hope of a prosperous and fruitful trade.

Sigmundr shook Elena's hand and smiled.

"Tell the Protector that greet his hospitality with delight and that I wish for fruitful trade relations as well with the Merchant Federation. If you'll follow me, we will be taking a maglev railcar to the Grand Chancellor's House, my humble home, where we can discuss everything further"

They all were led to a maglev train to take to the other side of Gracegard, where the Grand Chancellor's House was located. They railcar that had been reserved for the Grand Chancellor and his guests was an elaborate one, with luxurious furnishings all around. Sigmundr sat on his favorite couch and asked a butler to bring him a drink. His taste was for red wines, and he had a glass of his favorite Númenórean wine, grown fresh in the vineyards of Annúminas.

He looked at Elena and gave her a warm look, always seeming to be a happy man. He took a sip of his wine before pointing out some of Gracegard's nicer features.

"If you look all around you, Vice Doge, all you will see are mountains surrounding Gracegard. This city is completely protected by those natural walls, and has helped keep the government safe in times of peril. I have always taken shelter in the fact that those mountains are there, keeping us safe from outsiders. Would you like a drink?"

*Elena was impressed by the scenery, how things were, and mostly the fact that the President used a luxurious maglev railcar, which was really uncommon in her mind. Even if she was used to car and planes, she find it very enjoyable with all the luxury things.*

Vice Doge for Trade Elena Djine

- Yes your Excellence. We generally estimate a nation by its gastronomy and drinks, even if that's perfectly false, it give us a taste of its history, well, in our mind. I would be glad to taste your Uniformitarian wine. We also have good wines in our nation your Excellence, if you wish I always preserve a box of San Julio in my plane, in case.

"I would very much like to try some San Julio wine. I love to learn about the tastes and sights of other cultures." He replied to Elena, taking another sip of his wine.

He called out to a waiter, asking for another glass of wine, which was poured and brought to Elena.

"I hope you enjoy this wine. It is a very rare wine, well aged and made in the vineyards of Annúminas, the city of the Númenóreans, a people who are practically a mix between elves and men. That culture is one that I admire greatly, as Lord Elendil II is my good friend and ally. Perhaps you should visit Annúminas one day to speak with him. They have a very good fishing, wine, and are a very welcoming port to foreign traders."

As the railcar continued on its way towards the Grand Chancellor's House, two more buildings came into view: the Gallery of Scientific Studies and the Halls of Law. The Gallery of Scientific Studies was the place where many scientists from all over came to visit Gracegard, honing their practices and studies for the betterment of mankind. The structure itself was very modern and had a cubed look to it, with its large windows giving off the aura of transparency. The Halls of Law were beautiful and tall. The Halls of Law were where the Uniformitarian Parliament met daily to debate and pass legislation. The Halls of Law had a very regal look and culminated in the domed tower in the center of the building, giving it an authoritative feel.

The Grand Chancellor pointed the buildings out to the Vice Doge, noting their importance.

"Vice Doge, if you will look out your window you will see two very important buildings in the capitol. The first building that you see is the ever modern Gallery of Scientific Studies, where our top scientists and doctors come together to try to solve the mysteries of the universe and better the existence of their fellow man. I am an avid follower of the happenings there, and they have made many breakthroughs in recent years, especially in the fields of medicine and astronomy. The other, more grand structure that you will see is the Halls of Law. That is where our parliament meets and discusses the laws of the realm and how they are to be amended and changed or even replaced. Not much happens there in my opinion, but that's from the perspective of an executive. It still is a very important part in our democracy and we value our freedoms."

*She took the glass offered by the Grand Chancellor with precaution, and smelled its nose, watching over its appearance. After some minutes of observing it, she finally taste it, letting it some seconds in her mouth.*

*Through the window, watched the buildings along their way trying to understand a part of history of this nation*

Vice Doge for Trade Elena Djine

- Interesting, it is very pleasant your Excellence. Sensitive if I may add.

I'll ask one of my dignitaries to bring the box of San Julio to the Grand Chancellor's House in order to allow you to discover it. It is a light red wine, very used to our sunny and clear skies, I think you might appreciate, between wine admirers naturally your Excellence. I'd be glad to meet his Highness Lord Elendil.

Impressive structures, they reflects your values like ours reflects us in the Merchant Federation I suppose, trade, bank, economy...
You have a very well developed healthcare system and space program I suppose your Excellence ?

*She continued to walk a bit through the railcar, while talking and taking care of what they are passing on, buildings, monuments, people...*

The Grand Chancellor turned his gaze back too the Vice Doge and responded, "Most of our healthcare is privatized these days, as we don't believe in socialized medicine. There are however, government healthcare providers for those who cannot normally afford it. As far as a space program goes, we Uniformitarians are more interested in mapping out the cosmos than exploring it. Having a space program would be an unnecessary expense for the government and people to pay for. Financially, we do our best to not waste the taxpayer's money. We are a financially solvent state, and plan to remain as such."

As he finished speaking, the Grand Chancellor's House came into view. It was a palace-like structure with many halls and entrances, as well as a large courtyard in the front. The doors to the railcar automatically opened and the Grand Chancellor motioned for the Vice Doge to follow him out into the courtyard.

"Welcome to my home, Vice Doge. This is the Grand Chancellor's House, the place where Grand Chancellor after Grand Chancellor has resided since the 1600s. If you'll follow me inside, we will have the afternoon meal and speak about the Merchant Federation's proposals for Uniformitarian.

The Grand Chancellor and Vice Doge were directed inside and through a series of hallways into a large dining room with a rectangular shaped table. Food wasn't yet set out, but the Grand Chancellor and his aides sat down and called for the waiters to enter the room.

"What kind of food would you like, Vice Doge? We have many different choices. But name it and it shall be served."

*Elena was impressed by how much Uniformitarians take care of their national budget, and limit costs. While on the other hand, free healthcare and free educations were considered as natural rights by Vinitsians and paying for such services were considered as unimaginable, because these were basic rights, the same as low taxes.*

*She follow her host through the Grand Chancellor's House*

Vice Doge for Trade Elena Djine

- As serious things seems to start, in order to whet our appetite, first allow me to dispose a basic draft which we could go on. Here it is your Excellence, as a base naturally, I am entirely dispose to change every points in order to be benefit to our Nations.

Now for the important part, I would, if you allow me, be pleased if you serve me some of your local or national specialities, I put my entire trust on your choice.

*Now that the first draft was on the table, it started a new area for the discussion, a more intense and difficult area, well, if there is disagreements, but she was quiet used to, and try to adapt to its trading partners. She made that first draft as a base, knowing that at the end, it would most likely be entirely re-negotiated and had changed.*

Sigmundr looked at the copy of the treaty and smiled. He read it thoroughly to ensure that it would be acceptable to his country. He gave a nod of approval and had some economic aides look it over as well to be sure that it was practical. He quietly talked with his aides for a brief moment before putting the treaty down and smiling. He took another sip of his wine as well as ordered some grilled chicken, marinated with lemon juice and chili powder and a cup of mixed berry mead.

He turned to Elena and gave her his approval of the treaty.

"We have no qualms with this treaty. It is wonderful and we will be ready to sign it when you are."
