The Republic of Uniformitarian Population: 388,000,000 Capitol city: Gracegard Form of Government: Constitutional Republic GDP: 26.7 trillion Grand Chancellor: Sigmundr Arnsson Lower Parliamentary House: The Chamber of Gentry Higher Parliamentary House: The Senate Uniformitarian is one of the larger nations on the western continent, but certainly not the most populous. It has been a nation since 1265 when Ralph Von Lauren united the Horse-Lords of Uniformitarian and created one, unified democratic state. Through the ages since, Uniformitarian has been a kindled fire of hope to all those around the world who love freedom, being the experiment of democracy. Politics are slightly unusual in Uniformitarian, as all parties have been banned, and people vote for a person rather than a party as a whole. This even applies to parliamentary elections, where races are often very close, yet not politically nasty. Uniformitarian has virtually zero official relations with any other countries, but trades with all who are willing. Gracegard is a trade hub and a very bustling city with high levels of technological innovations being used in the city's transportation, architecture, and sanitation daily. Though Uniformitarian's economy may be small, it is still a very respectable economy on the uptrend. Uniformitarian's military is very advanced, and as a result is not gargantuan. It is of a decent size, and specializes in defensive tactics. Uniformitarian is known to be a nuclear weapon wielding state, with estimates putting the warhead number anywhere from 1000-1500 warheads, being able to be utilized from a combination of missile silos, mobile ICBMs, and a small nuclear submarine fleet. Uniformitarian's military historically has seen little conflict, as the country has always maintained a strong neutrality doctrine. While the rest of the western continent has languished in war, Uniformitarian has been a beacon of peace and prosperity, regardless of any outside circumstances. Races and Ethnic Groups Uniformitarian is a mixed species nation, with the majority of the citizenry being humans. The largest minority however is the elven population, which makes up about 25-30% of the total population. The elven population is very outspoken in its belief that humans and elves (all races, really) ought to live in peace and harmony with one another in order to be strong where the others are weak. Socioeconomic status within the elven population is very good, with most of the top 10% of the 1% being elven millionaires and billionaires. This is believed to be due to the rich history of business prowess that the elves have always possessed, as well as ancient royal bloodlines that offered them privileged lifestyles above all else. While the elves may be the more wealthy race in Uniformitarian, the human population is nothing to sneer at. The humans of Uniformitarian are the descendants of the Horse-Lords of old, who were a society of farmers and simple men who scratched and clawed for their livings. Many humans have working class to working poor jobs, and one of the more major political movements in Uniformitarian in the present day has to do with having economic equality with the elves. The humans make up 65% of the total population and are devout followers of the old Norse Gods, including Odin and Thor. The other 15-20% of the population belongs to the dwarves, a smaller humanoid race which has earned the respect of the other two despite their stubbornness. The dwarves seldom come out of their homes in the mountains, and spend the majority of their time mining away for Uniformitarian's massive mining industry, unearthing countless types of precious metals and jewels. The dwarves are the great forgers and craftsmen of Uniformitarian, building everything from children's toys to top-of-the-line military vehicles. The dwarves are the backbone of Uniformitarian, and the elves and humans mustn't soon forget that. |

Gracegard, The Capitol Gracegard is the capitol of the Republic and is by far the most populous city, with a population of over 20 million living within its limits. The city was once the seat of the human Horse-Lord Kings, but now is the place where a diverse government now flourishes. Every day the Chamber of Gentry and the Senate debate and pass legislation on key issues in Uniformitarian thanks to all political parties being banned. Gracegard is a busy and well-to-do city by day, but a mysterious and devious city by night. Many people often live double lives in the city, leading many to wonder who their true friends are. As far as locations go, Gracegard is unique in that it is a city completely surrounded by mountains on all sides (OOC:This is derived from the idea of the city of Gondolin in J.R.R. Tolkien's works). This ensures its security in times of war and danger, and there is but one known way in and put of Gracegard-- the Great Path, which is an underground highway carved through the mountains so that people travel in and out of the city conveniently. Of course, one can fly into the city, but airfare into Gracegard is quite expensive. The Mountain City is very advanced and is often marbled at by citizens of other areas of Uniformitarian. The greatest minds and scientists are gathered in the Gallery of Scientific studies, where everything from medicine to astronomy is studied in detail. To further add to the city's marvels, the city has a maglev system used both for transit and public transportation depending on the route. People go about their business in style in Gracegard in that regard. Gracegard The Chamber of Gentry The Chamber of Gentry is the lower house of Uniformitarian's bicameral legislature, made up of 100 elected representatives of each race, making for a total of 300 representatives. Legislative bills are written and debate starts there, with any bill having to be seconded by at least 20 representatives before debate and amendments even begin. The head of the Chamber of Gentry is the Lord of the Chamber, who mediates and presides over all discussion, amendments, and votes. The Chamber of Gentry meet in the Halls of Law, where the Senate resides as well. The Senate The Senate is the higher of Uniformitarian's bicameral legislature, made up of a total 100 Senators with no regards to race at all. Legislative bills are debated and voted on here with finality, though bills can be sent back to the Chamber of Gentry if a 2/3rds majority of the Senate agrees. The Senate is governed by the Council of Law, which is made up of the 10 most senior and respected members of the Senate. The Council of Law is the small body within the Senate, that like the Lord of the Chamber in the Chamber of Gentry, that has authority on all matters, and sends passed legislation to the Grand Chancellor for his signing. the Halls of Law Gallery of Scientific Studies The Gallery of Scientific Studies is Uniformitarian's beacon of light to the intellectual world. Many scientists from all over the world come to Gracegard to study the sciences and develop new technologies and methods of study to improve the everyday quality of life. Fields of study there include but are not limited to: astronomy, medicine, biology, physics, chemistry, anatomy, botany, and physiology. The government is quite interested in the advancement of medicine in order to help treat the less fortunate in Uniformitarian and around the world at a low cost to them, and in some cases provide care free of charge. The building itself is considered one of the most eye-popping structures in the country with its high end, modern look. Gallery of Scientific Studies The Grand Chancellor's House The Grand Chancellor, Uniformitarian's executive leader, is housed in this grand structure which was first constructed in 1568 when Grand Chancellor Ragnar Lostrios felt the need to move away from his estate in the highlands to ensure his security. Ever since then, it has been the seat of power in Uniformitarian. The House itself symbolizes the Uniformitarian sense of strength in fortress like structures, which have long been the style of the men of Uniformitarian. The Grand Chancellor's House

Other Important Cities Nargothrond, Stronghold of the Elves Built in the Caves of Nargo in southern Uniformitarian, this underground elvish city has been around for millennia. According to legend, it was built in a time before reckoning by an elf named Finrod, who ruled as king there for centuries. No one is sure exactly how old the city is, but one thing is for certain: its old passageways and caverns tell a story that words cannot. The City of the Elves is one of the most revered places in Uniformitarian and has an extremely tight-knit security force--separate from Uniformitarian's armed forces--that keeps the city safe round the clock. The population of the underground city is unknown, but is thought to be in the low millions. The current ruler of the city is King Finrod Felagund, who rarely comes out to see the light of day, watching the rest of the country from the shadows. It ought to be mentioned that King Finrod Felagund is of Noldor descent, and claims the title of High King of the Noldor, being autonomous under the rule of the Republic. The city is especially protected with the fact that its underground cavity has a thick and wild forest above it. The locals are the only people who know the way to the city's entrances, of which there are at least three, but the most famous is the Great Gate. The Great Gate Nargothrond Erebor, Ancestral Home of the Dwarves Erebor, or The Lonely Mountain, is the home of the King Under the Mountain, the autonomous ruler of the dwarven race. It started out in ages past as a mining site and small community, but after much wealth was discovered deep within the mountain, more and more dwarves flocked to the mountain and it soon became the heart of their civilization. The mountain is highly protected by dwarven architecture and technology, making it perhaps even as impenetrable as Gracegard itself. The population of the city is about 500,000, as dwarves in Uniformitarian live in many underground and well-built mountain cities across the nation. Erebor has come to be known for its masonry and beautiful architecture, maintaining a near-medieval feel. The current King Under the Mountain is Thorin III Stonehelm, son of Dain Ironfoot. He is a very young king who wishes to see his people stay prosperous and wealthy, and there is little he won't do to accomplish this. The Gates of Erebor The Halls of Erebor Annúminas, Home of the Númenóreans The Horse-Lords may be the dominant group of men within Uniformitarian, but another, more ancient group of human like men also exists in Uniformitarian. They are a very small minority within the population of Uniformitarian, making up just at 1% of the population. These humanoid beings are the result of crossing between elves and men long ago, which created a new race of men: the Númenóreans. The Númenóreans created for themselves a shining city on the sea: Annúminas. Annúminas' gleaming white architecture makes it renowned in Uniformitarian for being the cleanest and finest city within the nation, although the populace of the city are known for being suspicious of all outsiders, even fellow Uniformitarians. The city is a major port and hub for Uniformitarian's trade and has a prosperous fishing industry. The Númenóreans are quite the species, and their city reflects their grandeur. The city is ruled by Elendil II, a pure blood Númenórean who is respected the nation over for his fair rule of Annúminas' nearly 2 million inhabitants. Annúminas (OOC: Ignore the cold climate on the picture as it was the best representative image of what I wanted the city to look like.) Edited by Gondor, Jul 19 2016, 02:38 AM.

Important Figures of Uniformitarian Sigmundr Arnsson, Grand Chancellor of Uniformitarian ![]() Age: 47 Race: Men Ethnic Descent: Horse-Lords Character Summary: Sigmundr Arnsson is a champion of chivalry and claims his descent from the old Horse-Lords of Uniformitarian, who were the kings of Men. He has just begun his first term as Grand Chancellor after winning in a landslide. He is known to be socially liberal and fiscally conservative, making for an interesting political combination. He is a hard-nosed and stubborn man who seeks to get his way all the time, not caring for the opinions or advice of others. Arnsson means to maintain Uniformitarian's neutrality in a crazy world, or at least that's what he leads people to believe. His term will be an interesting one, and one that will possibly influence Uniformitarian for a generation. |

The Uniformitarian Defense Forces Uniformitarian's military is quite small when compared to that of any military of its northern neighbors. Uniformitarian's military is purely for defensive purposes and not designed to intervene in foreign conflicts. The standing army of Uniformitarian is only 300,000 men, with another 250,000 in reserve. The army receives monthly training and drills regularly to keep their minds and morale sharp. The UDF is a volunteer military, which makes service in it very prestigious and and honorable. The military is commanded by the Grand Chancellor in times of crisis and often participates in humanitarian aid missions in and around Uniformitarian, and its ultimate mission is to defend Uniformitarian from foreign threats and to keep the tradition and pageantry of ages past alive.
