Minas Tirith International Airport King Eldarion had made his way to the airport with his Royal Guardsmen in tow, and awaited the arrival of the coming Maddoman representative. He had been informed that Maddoman officials had contacted the palace detailing that Constantine Dvorak wasn't in good health and another would be sent in his place. Who would be sent in his place wasn't said, and this left him curious. He had researched who might come, but there was definitely more than one possibility. Nonetheless he was glad that his invitation had been accepted, and he knew that this might be his last opportunity for peace with the Maddomanian Empire and its Western alliance. He adjusted his tie and got a drink of water from one of his Guardsmen, wiping the visible sweat from his forehead. He was nervous, but maintained his serious composure. The Royal Guardsmen were dressed in their dress reds with the golden buttons dotting up and down their jackets. Their uniforms were pressed and worn to perfection, with each officer always keeping his uniform in tip-top shape, or else. In their right arms they held their ceremonial carbines, which were rather outdated bolt-action rifles that belonged in another era. Each man stood at attention, and looked with stony expressions to the runway, where the Maddoman jet was arriving. King Eldarion himself gave the command when he said, "Present Arms!" The Royal Guardsmen snapped to attention and held their rifles in an outward position, like crossing spears. They marched over to the door of the Maddoman jet and lined each side of the stair case, making a human column for the Maddoman official to walk through. Eldarion stood in full view at the end of the Guardsmen, and looked expectantly as a figure appeared at the top of the staircase. |

"If I am reading this treaty correctly, does it not give the Maddomanian Empire permission to continue military operations around Japao while everyone else must pull back? And if that's the case, isn't that rather manipulative in order to put the ME in a good position to exert its power over the east? Not only this, but there are inaccuracies in the treaty. The two Khanate Mig-29ks were shot down by Japaoese Kfir fighter jets, and the area where the incident occurred is disputed airspace. The Khan and King Shinji of Japao are soon to meet, but no border has yet been set, so how could any undisputed airspace have been violated?" "In our private meeting, the Khan did in fact mention that Japao was recognized by the DKLV back in the 19th century, but he stated that he is willing to do so again. I don't believe that it would be wise for me to sign the treaty for those reasons. The treaty intends to make the DKLV recognize Japao as a sovereign nation, and yet the neither Los Vatican nor Japao are signatories to this treaty. I offer you two more paths of negotiation, however. I would be willing to sign a treaty strictly between the Maddomanian Empire and Gondor which would detail how both nations would remain neutral and let the DKLV and Japao solve their differences, or we have another option. I can give you private, off the books assurance that you will see no Gondorian troops in or around Japao, save in the event that the west starts the war and we must rally to our allies in defense of our common prosperity." "My apologies, the treaty must have been written wrongly. But I would prefer signing this treaty to make are relations remain neutral, but we may rally our forces in case the Khanate decides to invade Japao..." "I prefer this method of negotiation due to the fact that we still remain neutral to eachother, and the DKLV can settle their differences between Japao. This may not increase our relations, but will still have a very, very high chance of the resolving of the crisis and full peace within the Japaonese people..." Guskov Says. |

Eldarion picked up the treaty and furrowed his brow in thought. He knew that the language of the document was incorrect and he sensed a sinister plot on the part of the Maddomans, but he also knew what the alternative was. The alternative was a world war and millions, maybe even billions of lives lost. He also knew that Gondor had the option to rally its own forces in the event that the Maddomanian Empire invaded the Khanate, as that had nothing to do with the contents of the treaty. He took out his own special pen and signed the treaty, adding his nation to the list of neutral nations on Japao. "I will reluctantly sign this treaty. But know this: if you invade the Khanate, I will consider that outside the boundaries of this treaty as this treaty specifically refers to Japao and Japao alone. I will honor my defense pact with the Khan if I am called upon to do so." Edited by Gondor, May 21 2016, 02:33 PM.
