Tetrarch, DEN

Vladimir had taken a late flight down to the fortress city from his place in Hochburg, and arrived early in the morning, around 0300 hours. From the moment his plane touched down, he couldn't catch a single minute of precious sleep, and it showed a little on his face that morning. It was 0800 now, and he was on his third cup of coffee, attempting to withstand the exhaustion of a full two days without sleep. It had been a long few days, with the rise of their old neighbors, and the war planning. In fact, he would welcome this night. After they sent off the soldiers, hell, he could sleep as long as he wanted to. Unfortunately, he knew what today was going to be, and he dreaded it. He dreaded it with more than he could show, but he went through with it anyway. It was, after all, necessary.

In the backseat of the armored car next to him was the Division and Battalion commander, and both were quiet this morning. The Battalion commander had his hands in his pockets, and was dozing off as the car bumped along on the road to the airfield, his cap in his lap. On his right, the Division commander was looking through a clipboard, flipping the papers up and down while he read through the brief.

"Comrade Bard, I hope you realize that this is completely top secret, no?" Vladimir asked, drinking from his cup silently. "If anyone speaks a word of this, anyone, I'll personally have them subjected to a summary execution."

"Comrade Lenin, you do not have to worry about this at all. I will make sure nothing will leave." He replied, reassuring the Fuhrer, which also showed. "At any rate, most of our troops will only get the information a day before the operation."

"Very well. How's the 56th doing, comrade?" Vladimir asked, looking over at the Commissar, directly looking at the officer and nudging his shoulder. The man almost jumped up and looked around in confusion, and patted down his uniform. "Sleep well, comrade?"

"Sir? Oh yes, sir! Of course, comrade Fuhrer." He replied, obviously embarrassed. "What did you ask?"

"I asked how the 56th was doing?"

"Oh, sir, very well, comrade. They have been training dutily for over a month now, and they are more than ready to continue. We've been readying the aircraft for your use as well, sir." The Commissar replied. "Actually... why not ask them yourself, sir?"

Vladimir looked out the window as he said that, and watched the runway come into view as they got closer. On the runway, in fact, was a few aircraft and a massive battalion of airborne soldiers, all lined up and listening to the briefing.

"Well, well... maybe I shall.."

President de Gaulle, always worried about the power to the North, and accepting of Gondor's defensive pact offer is ready to start bringing in defenses for the worst case scenario.

Military drills have been running for active soldiers for about a year, the training was intense, and to make sure, every soldier was prepared for a long defensive war.

Gustavus de Gaulle campaigned 4 years ago, on mending this relationship with USSDEN and establishing a permanent border both sides could agree to. But every time talks broke down, USSDEN always demanded more land, or that they become a puppet, which couldn't be accepted. Given these aggressive demands, and watching as USSDEN built up since the 70s, he knew the war was inevitable, Gustavus made one last attempt to end the conflict before it started, calling the Emperor of USSDEN himself.

Franco-Tyskland

3rd Royal Armored Division

The massive cargo planes could be seen landing at the Tysklandian airfield, carrying varying degrees of cargo. Some carried troops, others tanks, and yet others secondary armored vehicles such as APCs and IFVs. Gondorian maintenance crews began checking to ensure that all the vehicles were working properly. Men joked around as they headed towards their quarters and waved to the foreign troops who were hosting them. This was a strange land, and the 12,000 Gondorian troops didn't have the slightest idea as to why they were there. All they knew was that this nation was of strategic importance to the Crown, and that their mission was to protect it with their lives. The two Brigadier Generals who commanded the division were meeting at a makeshift operations HQ that they had set up in a little-used office building on the base and discussing strategies for the different batallions in case things got messy. Brigadier General James Rider and Brigadier General Shinzo Abe had before them a map of Franco-Tyskland, where they laid out the battle plans. Rider pointed to the temperate Forest area, and his finger followed lines among the map that was the tree line.

"If the Namenians invade, we hold them here. We'll fight guerilla warfare along the edges of the forest to create a front too treacherous for any invading armies to cross. We can also traps in strategic areas, like minefields on unsuspecting victims. Of course we will notify our allies of where they'll be, but not the commies." Rider said, smirking with satisfaction.

Shinzo liked this plan, but had more to add.
"You're right, but it isn't that simple. The Tysklandians know this land far better than us, so we will need them as our guides to coordinate our maneuvers. But with that, I say that the forests would be the best point to stage a defensive front. I'll send the briefings to each battalion commander by first light. But for now let's focus on getting ourselves organized. This is the deep breath before the plunge."

Rider looked Shinzo in the eye, and nodded. "The game is set. The pieces are moving."

2nd Royal Special Forces Division

The 2nd Royal Special Forces Division wasn't tasked with defending a possible front like the 3rd Royal Armored. They would be behind the front lines, acting in more of a support role. The 10,000 men of this division would be protecting the highway system leading to the major cities of Franco-Tyskland, setting up checkpoints and a defensive line surrounding the highway for miles. They would protect this area with all abilities, yet it wasn't even their primary objective. If the highway system fell, they would fall back to the nearest major city, and wait for reinforcements. Tarps currently Sat over their vehicles to hide exactly what they were doing from the civvies for the time being. They knew that even the hills had eyes.

1st Royal Air Wing

The 1st Royal Air Wing had been deployed to Franco-Tyskland to project air superiority in the event of a Namenian invasion. The air wing was comprised of Su-35 Air Superiority Fighters, Su-34 Fighter/bombers, Tu-160 Heavy Bombers, and MiG-31 Interceptors. The wide range of aircraft was an astounding sight to any Tysklandian airmen, as all of the warplanes flew into their destination: the mountains. They would use the mountains to protect their aircraft from bombing runs or missile strikes if they could, as some cover was better than none. The Tu-160s were the first planes underground, followed by the Sukhois. The MiG-31s didn't need to be placed in the hangars, as they would be the first response to any detected Namenian bombers that came into Tysklandian airspace. Being in the mountains right along the border also gave them the ability to strike quickly in Namenian airspace if needed, although they risked detection as soon as they left the safety of the Tysklandian airspace. Gondor's air power, would for now, remain hidden.

Over Tetrarch, crossing borders

As the nightfall crept over the lands, as the animals and people fell asleep and all was calm, the air around the base filled with the sound of rotor blades. First slow and deep, with each blade not cutting, but tearing through the air with a great axe, and then they sped up, each one slicing through the air like a hot knife through butter. It was soon joined by many of these roars, most different than the first throaty bellow of the H-96.

And then they lifted off, and the noise began to disappear as they flew into the distance. The wave of helicopters, the first of many, headed south, and their outlines covered just the bare tip of the treeline, before disappearing over the horizon. They only flew a few miles before a small helicopter, an H-3 scout helicopter, sped off into the distance and banked slightly east. It, too, disappeared and left the four helicopters behind it.

The scouting helicopter gained speed for a short time, then cut back on its throttle to cut down her sound, and began a slow flight. For a few minutes, she continued, trying to stay as inconspicuous as possible, and eventually, she flew around a small city, before turning back around. Her job done, and not a single thing found, she went to rejoin the group. Again she disappeared into the distance, but she would only be gone for a few minutes now.

*****

"Alright, maggots, get ready! Everyone, stand up!" The captain shouted, roaring into the comms systems. At his orders, the hundred soldiers inside the H-96 stood up and held onto the straps on the ceiling. Although big and steady, they still didn't want a single fall. Not with this. "Check your weapons and ammo! Make sure you've got everything!"

The airborne soldiers opened up the chambers in their guns and loaded up a clip, and cocked their guns in near rapid succession. Each one began checking their gear before giving the thumbs up. Well, the captian thought, Able company was in fact a crack unit. He looked at his watch. Nearly 0100, just near their landing time.

"Captain, LZ in sight. Red light on. Get ready to move." The Captain's coms opened up, and he heard the co-pilot's voice. Good. They'd have to move fast to keep surprise. As they said that, the red light came on, and the whole room shut up.

"Alright everyone! Get ready for drop!" The Captain shouted, and loaded a clip into his gun as well. There was a slight wait, but then they heard the chopper slow down, and felt its descent. Then the ramp began opening, and everyone could feel the anticipation. "MOVE IT MOVE IT MOVE IT! GO GO GO!"

The soldiers ran forward and leaped off the helicopter's ramp before they kneeled down in a perimeter. As more jumped out, they began to spread out farther. One by one, they got out, until the helicopter began to ascend into the night, and the whole company was in the grass, kneeling in the dark.

Residents of the local area call in a suspicious group of around 130 men, in the same location, around which a helicopter was heard; the helicopter was previously failed to communicate with a tower that spotted it flying over the great forest. Given this fact two I-1 Orioles were scrambled to take out the helicopter and 10 infantry companies, and 5 local swat teams, were dispatched to the location with the goal of capturing the violators of Franco-Tyskland sovereignty

Back at the Presidential office, there is chaos as everyone is rushing to get generals, strategists, diplomats inside the Presidential office to plan . The first call goes out to the Gondorian ambassador; detailing the incursion, assuming it was perpetrated by USSDEN. Everyone in the Office nervously awaits the outcome of the response.

___________________

As the troops start building a defensive perimeter 2 kilometers away from the initial landing point of the intruders, the policy is that no one gets out without there certificate of citizenship or residency to Franco-Tyskland, (which includes a F-T drivers license, birth certificate, voter registration, card, federal id # etc.) The Swat teams mission was to set up the defensive fortification and then they will step down.

Landing Zone Alpha, Franco Tyskland

"Sir, the mortars have set up in the tree line. We've got 1st platoon digging in the ground for them." A lieutenant reported to Captain Cato through the comms. They were still spread out in a circle, most people hiding behind bushes and on their knees, or flush to the ground with their guns set up, or behind the trees. Cato and his command squad were in the treeline, hiding behind a makeshift clump of earth they made, with the radioman and a few other soldiers.

"Good work, LT." Cato replied with his comms, and then turned to the other men there. "Second wave's coming in. Get ready to receive them."

"Roger that, comrade captain. We'll alert the platoons." The LT responded, and turned to move along the ground to talk to the other soldiers. Cato, meanwhile, took out his binoculars and looked through them, over the dirt mound, and towards the small town. He almost swore out loud.

"See anything new?" The sergeant of his squad asked, holding his gun in his hands, his back against the mound.

"Yeah... Some police officers. Damn. Not a good time to land..." Cato sighed, scanning the horizon.

"Comrade captain, the Helis are nearby!" The radioman reported, listening to the radio from his back. Cato groaned. Even now he could hear the chopper blades whirring in the background, and he knew that the officers would undoubtedly find out about them.

"Alright. 2nd platoon, get ready!" The captain ordered, and continued watching, looking for anyone else that might be there.

Franco-Tyskland

3rd Royal Armored Division HQ

The Gondorians had been notified of the possible incursion in the forests of Franco-Tyskland, some mere hours from their positions. The two Brigadier Generals knew that the Namenians could well be on the move, so they had to act. Brigadier General James Rider looked at the point on the map where the enemy troops had been detected, and put his index finger on the 2 kilometer defensive perimeter that the Tysklandians had set up around the AO.

"What do we do here? They will need our help, but they are already sending so many troops. The Namenians will do who knows what, though. They may surrender. They may fight. They may have armor, or it might just be infantry. I am not entirely sure of how to go about this."

Shinzo, his counterpart, nodded at him and surveyed the situation. "We shouldn't send too many troops. But we also don't want to be caught underarmed if this is but the tip of the Namenian spear. This could be part of a large invasion force, or just reconnaissance. I say that we send 3 companies with 4 tank squadrons, making for 300 troops and 12 tanks total. That way we have insurance, yet aren't putting too many men at risk. Send them on a steady path, but don't rush to the front lines. If we are to know what we are dealing with, we can't rush in. By doing this we would also give the socialists time to surrender. Tell the men to be careful and watch their surroundings. Anything could pop up out of the bushes and shoot at our men. Let's have them off."

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Companies were called out and given their orders. They were to link up with the Franco-Tysklandian forces and find out the full force of the enemy and report what they found back to HQ immediately. That way if they had to call in more troops, they could. Each tank crew prepped the machines for action, making sure that the weapons and systems were ready to go. The 65 ton Merkava 4 tanks were behemoths in full battle kit, and got into formation as the troops lined up behind the tanks and prepared for the journey ahead. Each individual soldier checked his armor, pack, ammunition and weapons to ensure that they were ready for the mission at hand. Some of the troops were a little extra insurance carrying Stinger missiles, which are shoulder launched.

The two Brigadier Generals came before the assembled group, and gave them one last conviction.

"We are dealing with an unknown number of enemies here. We don't know how they are armed or why they have come, but we do know this: we have promised go protect Franco-Tyskland against tyranny, and that we shall do! If you must fight, then fight for the man next to you. Keep a clear head at all times and be aware of your surroundings. Remember your training and fight well or die well. For Gondor. FORWARD MARCH!

The men and tanks began their trek to the situation area, it would be a couple of hours before they arrived.

Gondorian Ambassador's response to Franco-Tyskland
Quote:

"The incursion has been duly noted, and Gondorian troops are on the way to the mission area. We will offer you the best of our services to prevent your nation's sovereignty from being violated. If this is in fact the Namenians, then we will stand shoulder to shoulder with you and pay the price that freedom will cost. King Eldarion has been notified of the developments on the ground and anxiously awaiting any news of what exactly we are dealing with here. Hope for the best, but expect the worst."

The Infantry companies start getting set up at the line and ready to hold no matter what, the line has police barricades governing it, machine gun bunkers, and improvised recon towers to spot the troops.

About 250 meters inward from the line, snipers and machine gunners are hiding in cover to take out some of the Namiens before they get too close. 10 Helicopters are patrolling the forest to spot them and alert the line to what direction they are moving.

---------------------------

In the capital, plans are being drawn for how to prevent an all out invasion. Most plans come up setting up gorilla task forces in the forest to slow down the intruders so a defensive can be prepared. Volunteer soldiers will start the gorilla training soon, these troops are purposifully taken from the local area they are assigned to; because they know where to hide, and the land, if they need to escape.

Landing Zone Alpha One

The H-1s came in over the horizon, and slowed down as they got nearer. As soon as they got close to the clearing, they nearly landed on the ground, and disgorged the second wave. One by one, the helicopters unloaded, the troops jumping off in quick succession, leaving the helicopter to return to the air. Covering them, at the treeline, was alpha company, lying down at their makeshift defenses, and waiting for the first sign of contact.

The instant a platoon made contact with the ground, they ran like hell to the treeline, and were quickly followed by the rest of the soldiers, before splitting into their companies, taking a line to the west. In less than five minutes, Bravo Company had made touchdown, and were safely behind the trees.

Franco-Tyskland, 3rd Gondorian Royal Armored Division, 1st-3rd Companies
The Company Commanders made sure that their commlinks to HQ were up so they could give them sitreps as needed. The 12 tanks were rolling along the road, scanning the landscape for any possible targets. They hadn't arrived at the situation area yet, but they were getting close. They could see the lights of a small city off in the distance, and they knew that some form of action awaited them there. As they continued their approach to the situation area, they contacted their Franco-Tysklandian allies and asked them what the situation on the ground was and what they were dealing with in terms of enemy numbers and capabilities.

Transmission from 3rd Armored to Franco-Tyskland Military and Police

"Franco-Tysklandian forces in the mission area, this is the Gondorian 3rd Royal Armored Division, companies Alpha, Bravo, and Charile. We would like a sitrep on Namenian force numbers and capabilities, over.

Once the transmission had been sent, the Gondorian troops slowed their pace slightly, not wanting to rush foolishly into action. Each man readied his weapons and ammo, and thought of home.
