I posted on this a while back and it turned into a chat about using complex systems to work out militaries and never truly got resolved. Here is my concerns 1. We have a lot of war based RP going on, that's fine as war RP is consensual and if that floats your boat fair enough. However while trying to keep up with stuff about a War RP on the IRC channel I've found it very difficult to find even basic information about many nations military. Now as I stated before I'm not expecting everyone to have as detailed a military factbook as what I've made (I've also done several other users) . However when we can't even find out sizes of armies, general types of kits etc then there is an issue. Having a general idea about size and standards of military has impacts on many other aspects of RP, so for example which direction to take a situation with another nation. I would like to politely ask all nations to have somewhere a factbook entry that at least states the size of the armed forces and some kind of comment at the least on standard. There is nothing worse than someone suddenly pulling ultra modern aircraft carriers out of thin air and saying "Yeah we've had them all along" when you know full well you wouldn't have made that decision. 2. There are some of you out there who use NS for your factbooks and it gets confusing as there is stuff there that is out of date, irrelevant as Future Tech etc. Can we all make it clear which factbook we're using please, perhaps adding it into your signature on the forum here as a link would be useful. |
