King Eldarion Orders the Military to Modernize! King Eldarion, after seeing tensions between East and West mount with the Japao Crisis, has ordered the military to take steps to modernize. This includes equipment, weapons, vehicles, organization, and training. When it comes to the Navy, 6 light aircraft carriers are being pulled out from mothballing to be given new radar, sonar, controls, defenses, and all other things 21st century. The purpose of this specifically is to begin the process of being able to project naval and air power across the seas in the events of a crisis. Other naval vessels that are undergoing modernization are the Arleigh-Burke class guided missile Destroyers, Corvettes, attack submarines, and patrol boats. The Schematics for the fully modernized G.C.S. Halabar For the air force, the aging MIG and Sukhoi fighter fleet made up of third and fourth generation aircraft are set to receive upgraded radar, targeting equipment, and armament loadouts for possible future engagements. A fifth generation stealth fighter is currently in the planning and development stages, but isn't expected to be in full production for a good while. Two SU-35s during an air defense exercise ![]() For the ground forces, tanks are being upgraded with armor and radar systems, artillery batteries are being replaced, armored vehicles are being checked for quality assurance, and SAM systems are being upgraded. The troops are receiving new training and tactics for home defense as well as foreign deployment both offensively and defensively for every situation imaginable. The total cost of the military overhaul is not yet known, but is estimated to be in the billions. The King is being careful to undertake this project slowly so that valuable money is not wasted. Gondor begins Diplomacy Earlier this week the King opened up the possibility of dialogue with other nations after almost 30 years in isolation. Several nations have been very responsive, and Gondor is in talks with multiple states. Steward Gray has gone off to meet with Goyuk Khan of the Greater Khanate of Los Vatican. His mission is seen as extremely important as the two countries have always had good relations, and tensions are at an all time high with the Western Powers. In order to bring peace and stability to the east, the two nations must form strong diplomatic relations in order to ensure the prosperity and sovereignty of the region. Lord Helm Guardian Nyguno Hong has recently traveled to Port Moreland, where he will be in negotiations with Princess Anna Cullen for an embassy exchange as well as a possible trade agreement. He is experienced in diplomatic matters and is widely seen in Gondor as one of the foremost statesmen adept at international relations. Lord High Emissary Kenzie Zimmerman is in DEN after taking a flight there early this morning. She is meeting with retired Field Marshal Corinth, a war hero in DEN who is respected by all. A strong alliance is also expected with DEN, as King Eldarion sees in them the potential for a powerful ally in any circumstances. King Eldarion himself hosted the Vinitsian delegation, including the Vice Doge for Trade Elena. Talks were centered mainly around the possibility and state of relations between the two nations, as the Japao Crisis was brought up. After some discussion on the subject, an agreement was reached and King Eldarion officially signed a Trade Treaty with the Merchant Republic of Vinitsia. The deal is projected to improve the economies of both nations, and open up Gondor to even more trade in the future. Edited by Gondor, Mar 1 2016, 06:04 AM.

AV-B8 Harriers to be utilized in Carrier function Harrier Jump Jets are going to be put into production in order to be used on the 6 Ingatia-Class Light Carriers, 3 of which have been modernized to date. The aircraft are expected to fill a strike fighter and close air support role to troops acting on amphibious assault operations. The planes were first seen in 1967, but these newer Harriers are more modern, with the first planes having seen action in the 1980s and 90s. In other news, the G.C.S. Halabar took its first maiden voyage since being modernized, going out to patrol territorial Gondorian waters. While at sea, it tested it's ability to launch certain aircraft, with a few aged Harrier Jets taking off and landing on the runway successfully. More naval excersies are expected to take place in the near future with more vessels such as frigates and destroyers for escorts. |

Gondor Expected to sign CETO Treaty Reports are coming out from sources close to the Crown that King Eldarion is expected to sign and ratify the CETO Treaty, the brainchild of Morelander Queen Allison Cullen. CETO stands for Cultural Exchange Treaty Organization, and its main goal is to ensure the protection and display of ancient cultural artifacts around the world. Gondor has been isolate for nearly 30 hears, and this would be a huge step towards truly opening up Gondor for the world to see. This news comes as Lord Helm Guardian Nyguno Hong is visiting Port Moreland and is in diplomatic talks with United Moreland Princess Anna and Foreign Minister Piper. The talks are expected to bring more trade to Gondor's growing economy and help improve domestic investments and projects from the government. Lord High Emissary Kenzie Zimmerman was quoted as stating, "It's time for Gondor to spread her wings. For too long our great culture has been hidden from the world and our people deprived of seeing what the outside world has to offer. The tribes of Burnzibar have many lost artifacts and historical sights that the CETO Treaty could help find and preserve for generations to come. We look forward to the King's decision to sign this document and bring liveliness back to the people and spirit of Gondor." Military Modernization Presses Onward The modernization of the air force has taken a definitive turn, with top defense officials deciding on what types of military aircraft are to be used. The SU-35 will be utilized as an air superiority fighter (ASF), and the MIG-35 will be put into production as a Multirole fighter (MRF) until such time that fifth generation fighters have been developed. Both aircraft are set to be in production as of now, and pilots will begin to receive training in the new jets. The Navy has also decided what air superiority fighter to utilize as well. The Saab 39 Gripen, an aircraft developed in the late 1980s, will be retrofitted for naval use, even with light aircraft carriers who have catapults. The plane is a light fighter with good maneuverability and a single engine and has top speeds at Mach 2. The army has made the most progress on its upgrades. Tanks have been given modern fire controls, radar, armor, and ERA. APCs have seen much the same development as tanks, except with passengers in mind. Many troops have begun new training techniques on how to operate the updated vehicles and what situations where they will be used. |

Fifth Generation Fighter design approved by Lord Helm Guardian Nyguno Hong Defense Minister Nyguno Hong recently approved a design for Gondor's coming fifth generation fighter development program. The fighter will be a single seat, single engine fighter that will be utilized primarily in an air superiority role, but will have muti role functions if needed. The fighter will be the first aircraft in the Gondorian air force to utilize stealth technologies, linked avionics with satellites, and full 360 degree situational awareness (optoelectronics). The fighter will be relatively small in size, comparable to the Dassault Rafale or Eurofighter Typhoon.

Gondor and Khanate Alliance Inked! BREAKING NEWS: April 4, 2018 After King Eldarion's recent visit to the Khanate, it has been revealed that an alliance treaty has been signed between the Divine Khanate of Los Vatican and the Kingdom of Gondor. Steward Johnathan Gray and Princess Jane were also present in Kurultai, helping with the negotiations. The details of the alliance were announced in a recent press conference that Eldarion had upon returning to the Royal Palace.
The King's address was met with thunderous applause and cheers from press and onlookers. The alliance is the first of its kind for Gondor in an age, and some see it as coming far later than it should have, as the people's of Gondor and the DLKV have been on good terms for centuries, and the approval rating for the alliance is at 80% according to a recent poll. No one knows what the coming days will hold, but surely this stance from our King will show the West that we mean business and shouldn't be taken so lightly. |

BREAKING NEWS: Troops Deployed to Franco-Tyskland as Tensions Rise From his office this evening, King Eldarion revealed to be true what many had been speculating: Gondorian troops have been deployed to foreign soil. Many families of military members had suddenly seen their own sons and daughters be put on call for active duty out of the blue for a mission they knew nothing about. This had caused hysteria in some rural communities, not knowing what the fate of their loved ones would be. King Eldarion addressed the nation on national television and had quite a bit to say about where the troops had gone and why they had gone there.

Fifth Generation fighter design changed Lord Helm Guardian Nyguno Hong recently met with top officials in the Defense Ministry to discuss the reversal of a previous decision to produce a small, single-engine fifth-generation fighter jet. The meeting was behind closed doors and lasted about three hours, with sources close to the Defense Ministry stating that the decision was made to change the design of the jets to a more expensive, yet deadly twin-engine aircraft. This news comes as a setback to Gondor's massive military modernization efforts, with a stealth fighter jet having been something that the Air Force has had as a top priority for mission readiness and air dominance. A press conference is soon expected from the Lord Helm Guardian himself about the exact direction which the fighter program will take from here, but Hong declined to comment on any details following the Defense Ministry meeting. |
