![]() Port Moreland had only been sovereign territory of United Moreland a few months, but already the city was beginning to fill up, hardly any locals had left preferring to see what opportunities the new government would bring as well as having nowhere else to really go. The people of the United Moreland business community had taken the chance too, several shiny new office buildings that had laid empty under the former Zimalian government where now full of workers from both cultures. The Central Business District was built around a large beautiful marina into which HMS Majesty was moored. The ship had made the short voyage following the signing of the Cultural Exchange Treaty and now Princess Anna was enjoying a relaxing early morning Green Tea on its rear deck. While the weather at home in Lancaster was always a bit hit and miss this time of year the Port Moreland sunshine was a pleasant treat. She finished reading her morning paper while eating some toast before draining her tea and making her way dockside. "Good morning Your Highness" Piper McKenna the nations Foreign Minister said as she came strolling along the dockside. "Morning Piper" Anna said as she put the thin linen jacket on over the top of her loose fitting pale blue dress. "We all set?" "Yes Ma'am" Piper said with relish, she always enjoyed meetings like this, "We'll be at the airport in 20minutes, the police are going to convoy us, once there a small detachment of the Royal Lancastrians have been flown in for the honour guard, we pick up there delegation and then its coffee and cake on the roof of the cities highest hotel the Zanzibar, we've also booked them a floor for in case they wish to stay, Captain Marshall of the Royal Moreland Scouts is attached to them as security liason." "He the guy with the ginger beard or the one whose about 7ft tall." Anna asked as they entered the second of the large Black SUV's, thanfully equipped with air conditioning. "The ginger one, beside Bennett is only about 6ft Ma'am" she smiled "Everyone's tall compared to me" Anna said as the car began to pull off. A few locals in the down town areas waved noticing the car with the flags on knowing it was the royalty, it was strange at first to the locals to have a monarch and royal family but after a few weeks of the youngest Cullen, Princess Jessica basing herself here the locals had got to like the youngest Cullen and by association the others. The car arrived at the airport, it was far too large for what was needed, capable of handling hundreds of international flights a day but with the exception of a few cargo aircraft and the twice daily flight to United Moreland very little used the place at the moment. Anna exited the car and the Royal Lancastrians in their immaculate red jackets snapped to attention, even in the heat not a single man moved, they'd discovered the day before that standing around for a long time in the heat meant the dye in the red jackets would rub off onto their skin and many of them now began imagining having to clean the red lines from out the shower blocks back at the barracks. Still they were each proud to wear the scarlet jacket that denoted them of being the descendents of those men who had united the Kingdom nearly 300 years earlier and fought alongside Anna's great, great, etc grandfather Joseph Cullen. Anna asked them to be stood at ease and began chatting to some of them while they waited, another black SUV arrived and two uncomfortably suited men got out, Captain Marshall and his Sergeant, the giant Sgt. Bennett. The two men came over to the royal party. "Ma'am, we've just come from the tower, VIP's are inbound, Bennett here will be watching over you, I'll be with the guests." the Scouts as well as being the nations elite fighting force were also responsible for providing royal bodyguards and ensuring the safety of VIP's. It was a role none of them really enjoyed as it required them to be aware of protocol, something the very laid back Scouts didn't enjoy. "Boss man" the Sergeant said pointing up at the incoming aircraft that was on final approach. "Better get yourself squared away, your guys here." the two men retreated to stand behind the Princess as the Lancastrian's formed up again. The aircraft touched down and came to a stop and a small local school choir began singing the Gondor national anthem, they'd been practising for days. The anthem had been given a rather unusual twist as the school children were more used to local African style singing than that of a nation like Gondor, never the less the Princess enjoyed it and took up position to greet her guests. |

Lord Helm Guardian Nyguno Hong had read up quite a bit on United Moreland and its peoples. He found their culture to be rather strange, but not too outlandish. It had been a nation since 1789, so not as old as Gondor but also not too much younger, as Gondor had been founded in 1623. Nyguno was of the Burnzibarian native race, which had been the rulers of the land that became Gondor before King Halabar's time. He was extremely proud of his heritage, and his attitude showed it. His light-skinned Eastern complexion would make him stand out among the others, but why would he care? His flight had been a rather long one, but he had enjoyed it. His day-to-day duties as Helm Guardian included presiding over the military and ensuring that any foreign threats, so getting to be a dignitary for once relieved him of the structured stress of military dogma. His job today was to establish relations with a distant country, specifically on his mind was his meeting with the Princess. He wasn't nervous, as he had dealt with King Eldarion every day; although, his King wasn't the most simple to please. His profile on Queen Allison Cullen had impressed him. She was not the one he was meeting, but if genetics were any indication as to negotiating skills, Princess Anna would be a delight to parley with. The beautiful Port Moreland came into view, and he loved it. He saw fresh looking buildings and a lively populace, which was always a good sign when visiting a foreign country. But what captured his gaze was the marina: it was magnificent! The rich blue of the waters in the artificial harbor made his heart soar. The man had always held the seas in the highest regard, and this masterpiece was no different. At last the flight landed, coming to a gentle stop at the airport. He buttoned up his suit coat and tightened his bright crimson tie and prepared himself for the pomp and circumstance that surely awaited. He took one deep breath and smiled as the door to the plane opened and he began to walk down the steps onto the runway. Nyguno turned his eyes first to the Royal Lancastrians, and he almost wanted to salute them all. He didn't know too much about these elite troops, but he did know that they were instrumentental in the founding of the nation almost 300 years prior. Their red uniforms look elegant and quite resembled the uniforms of the Gondorian Royal Guard back home in Minas Tirith. Nyguno admired their steadfast attention, which showed their love for their country and how they had little regard for the heat wherein they stood. A sweet familial sound filled his ears as he looked over at a children's choir singing a surprisingly good rendition of the Gondorian National Anthem. It warmed his soul to see such kindness and humanity in the eyes of the innocent children, and he clapped as he made his way toward the Princess. "Hail, Princess Anna! Hail to you all, Morelanders! This...this is beautiful." He bowed to the Princess as he finally came near to her. "I sincerely thank you for offering to host me, Princess. This demonstration has shown me that your country genuinely wants a good relationship with Gondor, and I will do everything possible to ensure a long and lasting relationship of comfortable diplomacy between our two nations." Anna stepped forward and shook hands with the Lord Helm. "Well thank you, its a great pleasure to meet you." she said already guiding them towards the waiting SUV. One of the Scouts opened the door and allowed them to enter before taking his seat in the front. Once he was satisfied everyone was strapped in her told the driver to set off. "It's only a short trip to the marina and that's where the hotel we've arranged for you to use while you're here is." The SUV passed rows of bright store fronts, only half of which were open, the other half waiting new owners, this was one of the drawbacks so far with the new city, getting everyone set up in new businesses, customers rather liked it though as most days somewhere there was a new bar, restaurant or store opening, all offering great offers for its grand opening. The car turned onto the sea front and in a small park near the marina a group of young boys were having a lesson in rugby, United Moreland's favourite sport, it was a whole new thing to the Zimalian's who had stayed to live under the Cullen's rule, and many of them had embraced the new sport willingly. "That is HMS Majesty" Anna pointed out as they passed the boat, "It's been in the family, so to speak, since the 1930's, I have to say it's a rather nice way of getting around" The vehicle spun up a tree lined drive and pulled up in front of the hotel's doors, the staff lined up to greet the two diplomats and usher them up to the roof. The Zanzibar Hotel had put on a rather pleasant spread, a series of comfy looking swing chairs with overhead canopies were arranged around solid carved wood tables. A mound of different cakes, pastries and delights on each table gave plenty of choice, Anna motioned for the Gondorians to take a seat before she and Piper took two of the remaining chairs. "This is a custom where glad to say the Zimalian's have picked up quicker than rugby" Anna said offering the plate to Hong. "Now, if I can recommend an Frappuccino, there rather refreshing in this weather." "Now if I may start turning matters towards business, our Kingdom has always tried to ensure we have solid lines of communication with all nations, we see international co-operation as having great potential for good, for everyone, be that in terms of cultural education, trade, diplomacy, sport, you name it we'll consider giving it a go. I suppose it came from us having so many internal conflicts before my ancestor imposed order on the island of Moreland, we looked more inwards than outwards, over the last fifty years that shifted, and then we had my sister who went into over-drive, to date she's proposed several multi-national treaties, CETO being her latest. I suppose we want to make up for lost time." Anna smiled before taking a sip of her newly arrived drink. "How about Gondor, why the sudden opening of embassies? Any long term international plans, perhaps we have some common ground there?" |

Nyguno also had ordered a Frappuccino, and thanked hsi server as it was brought out. He looked at Princess Anna with a smile, took a sip of his beverage, and began to speak. "Ah, well Gondor has been in isolation for nearly the past 30 years. That was because we saw all the tensions between the nations of Audaxia going on at that time, so we decided to step away from the world stage and focus on ourselves. That all changed just a few years ago when Eldarion became King. He first instituted deep economic reforms against private companies who were treating their workers horribly and paying them wages that simply weren't liveable. As you can imagine, such isolation brought economic stagnation, so something had to be done. After fixing our economy, he then ordered the restructuring of the military, which was last year. Now we look to make our nation great again after being in seclusion for so long because we have a leader who cares for Gondor and wants us to be like a shining city on a hill." Nyguno took a brief moment to sip his drink again and get a little more comfortable. He ran his hands through his wirey hair and then began to talk once more. "As for long term international plans, I cannot be sure. It would certainly seem to me that we plan to be a little more involved in the world going forward. We are in talks and dialogue with a few nations at the moment, and I have an idea that over time that will expand even more. Gondor is broadening its horizons, and we wish to be more well known at this point." |

"More well known?" Anna asked with a raised eye brow, "and I assume you have some kind of plan for that?" she asked interested to gauge what the visitors meant by that. "If by that you mean begin establishing some kind of connections then we're always looking for ways to co-operate with nations, we've got several joint projects culturally, a project of missile defence with our near neighbours Vinitsia. So if we could perhaps be of help we would be only to happy to help, depending on the project of course. Which brings me to the first point I'm sure my sister would want me to bring up." She slid a document. "This is the CETO charter, an organisation established during a meeting on HMS Majesty, also Audaxia's first multi---national agency. My sister is a bit of a history nerd if truth be told and she is keen to see the organisation flourish and expand, she'd like to know if your nation would be willing and interested in joining?" Nyguno laughed and said, "By more well known we do mean establishing connections. We want to have ties with the world and build lasting, positive relations that consolidate our place on the world stage. It's funny enough that you should mention your missile defense project with Vinitsia. It isn't public knowledge yet, but Gondor is building its own brand new anti ballistic missile system. It'll be highly advanced yet cheap. Gimbaled guidance with a normal rocket motor, while also having a thrust-vectoring nozzle." After she had slid him the document, he quickly skimmed the paper for the main idea. "This seems to me to be a very good organization, but there is a caveat. I cannot sign treaties, nor give my nation permission to join any organization such as this. Only the King has that power. If you will allow me to take a copy home, I will thoroughly examine it with the King and out in a good word for it." Edited by Gondor, Mar 4 2016, 03:36 AM.

"That is not a problem at all, we would obviously provide one of the two votes of support necessary for your admission as my sister would like to eventually see all nations of Audaxia join the organisation." Anna explained. "Your military project sounds an ambitious one" Foreign Minister Piper MacKenna began, " Certainly the southern region seems a unstable one at the moment, so perhaps moves like the one your planning are wise moves, militarily our nation has always been a source of national pride, but that goes mainly for land forces and navy, we've invested heavily in our air force in the last few decades but its very rare our forces have become involved in outside matters. Our MKV is our first joint project, hopefully it'll be concluded soon." |

"I am sure that the King will sign the Treaty. Gondor has a rich history and some artifacts have been lost to time. Perhaps some of them could be recovered and sent all around the world so that everyone can learn about us." "We congratulate you on your efforts to keep your nation safe. Our military is an extreme source of pride to us as well, as it has been for nearly 4 centuries. Our military is currently undergoing a massive modernization project, but soon we will be ready for anything. Defensively, that is." |

"So I would think you'd probably be looking at ways of recouping your military spending" Anna asked, "Possibly looking oversea's for trading partners perhaps" she grinned, "I know if that is the case our nation has always operated on trade being handled in a spirit of reciprocity, your scratch our back and the like." "We've secured some good trade deals with other nations and I believe that Port Moreland here is prime for investment, perhaps we could even tempt a few of your businesses to set up HQ's in the Northern Hemisphere here if we can come up with the right deal." Piper added. |

"Yes, this a a thriving city that ought to make a very good acquisition for your country in the long run. Well, can arrange a trade agreement treaty. What I meant earlier about not being able to sign treaties is that I cannot sign ones such as CETO, which are multinational organizations. I can, however, put the ink on a trade deal. With that said", he smiled," some Gondorian businesses could come here up north." |
