Government Public Democracy Hall/Republican Council and Prime Chancellor Palace Because of the size of Yucadia, and the entire country's population being concentrated in or around the central City, Escala, fundamental Direct Democracy has become a reality. Citizens have the ability to vote and affect every passing bill or issue, with the Republican Council handling smaller or more administrative legislation pertaining to mostly non-domestic conditions; While the Yucadian Council, the lower house, encompasses all registered citizens. On major domestic policy and sometimes minor(depending on it's class; for example Class A is of utmost importance and hase a longer voting period). Domestic policy is in the most literal sense, guided by the preference of the people. This process really came to fruition in the rise of the Information Era, when internet became a large part of the legislative process, with smartphone apps and more giving each registered voter a virtual seat in the Yucadian Council. Politics Again, because of Yucadia's size, politics are rather tame and the two ruling parties mainly act as directorates for foreign and economic policy, though political domestic policy is hardly divided on. The two ruling parties consist of the Xii Uak(Sigh-eh Ark: meaning Islander Prime) Party and the Ijqxojji(Ye-caul-he: meaning Guardian) Party. The Islander Prime party promotes mostly an isolationist policy with diplomatic interaction that is only necessary, while promoting more Socialist Economic policy. Where the Free Market remains, but the Government intervenes to regulate companies. The Guardian party, believes that protecting Yucadian sovereignty, as in cultural and ethnic integrity, comes down the assertion of an active diplomatic role among the international community. They also promote an unregulated Free Market with the limit of only a minimum wage being established. The two parties however, rarely butt heads to the point of confrontation and outright opposition to eachother. The two, while disagreeing in policy and constantly working to gain favor of the people, can stick together cohesively in administrative government to keep the city-state running above average, as Yucadians sometimes have an unhealthy obsession with perfection. Executive Government The executive government, co-opting as the Escala City Council, carries out legislative commands and manages all departments of the country, ranging from Culture, Foreign Policy and Energy, to more. At the head of the Executive Administration, is the Prime Chancellor who commands the cabinet and represents the country as a figurehead leader, though commonly the Secretary of Culture And Foreign Affairs mainly represents the nation diplomatically, while the Prime Chancellor in typical cases manages all departments, setting broad policy. - PRIME CHANCELLOR: Head of State and Government, primarily the executive of the Cabinet. - SECRETARY OF CULTURAL AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS: The leader of the Department of Cultural and Foreign Affairs, sometimes thought of as head of state in some scenarios. - MINISTER OF ENERGY, ECONOMICS AND INFRASTRUCTURE(MEEI): Head of the Department of Energy and Infrastructure. - MINISTER OF DEFENCE: Head of the Ministry of Defence, while Yucadia has no official military, the Ministry ensures in the event of defence of the country that each citizen is trained properly as civilians and drafted in time if need be. Work in progress…. Elections The Prime Chancellor is directly voted for, as well as the Republican Council. Yucadia can commonly be referred to as a technocracy, as those you have substantial technological or another kind of intellect, is more likely to be elected. Council members with the highest IQ, are usually voted for, especially id they're young with technological or scientific background. Though not required, most candidates, including the Prime Chancellor partake in quizzes and puzzles to show their keen intellect and quick thinking, as well as worldly knowledge. Debates are usually quick, orderly and highly focused on a wide range of issues and even hypothetical scenarios and reasoning examination. Overall, the Yucadian people tend to lean to right, mainly for causes of self preservation and the lack of belief in more leftist ideology. As a whole, though voting more to the right, Yucadia can be accurately placed as 'moderate'. |
