Today I am proud to announce that after mutually benefical negotiations with President Elwes we will be able to establish a United Moreland presence here. The deal we have struck sees the Zimalian people benefit financially, some years ago they began building this city in hopes of drawing people away from the overcrowded Mogebbe, however this did not work. Now with the backing of United Moreland those handful of people living here will soon see their blossoming city flourish. Over the coming months we will be investing in completing some of the building work, we will be establishing schools and public services, things that have been lacking so far. Meanwhile the money we have paid as a lease will help the wider population enjoy a higher standard of life. I am pleased to say that unlike some nations we have been able to expand our territory for the good of our people without making enemies and without a single drop of blood being spilt.

Alison's Statement

 

It is sad to see two respected nations taking such actions. There are long standing international protocols for interception of aircraft, and Naval vessels considered to be in your airspace, now I'm willing to be corrected but from what I have been presented, those protocols were not followed. We now have two well equipped nations pointing expensive and sophisticated weapons at each other when conflict could have easily be avoided. I would hope that both sides of this would be willing to explore ways of this de-escalating and often that requires someone on the outside to sit down and offer an unbiased eye. We are more willing to try and do that, HMS Sharpe will provide neutral territory for such talks and I hope all parties concerned will attend.

Should talks fail then HMS Sharpe's mission shall transform to one of a humanitarian role, we will not stand by while people seek to flee conflict if we can lend a hand then we shall, I firmly hope however that it won't come down to that."

Queen Alison's Statement

 

We today have seen the beginning of an international co-operation between several nations, it is my intention over the coming days to find ways to continute this spirit. There are many initatives out there that are important to United Moreland and several other nations and I will be meeting with our ministers to discuss launching them. Even as I speak my brother, Prince Robert is attempting to help make sure the Japao Crisis is settled peacefully, an issue that has been caused by several misunderstandings of accepted international norms. I also intend to start launching initiatives about issues such as maritime procedures, scientific co-operation and exploration of the depths, I hope that I can once again rely on the support of the international community in these matters.

I am also glad to see other nations taking an initiative, to see nations such as the DEN and Gondor reaching out to the international community is important. The steps of forming a kind of international body such as that proposed by Maddomia is an important step however United Moreland will not be signing up to any organisation that is not fully defined, has not included the international community in its establishment and that would allow foreign soldiers to be placed within our borders on potentially large numbers and outside our chain of command. If Maddomia and the United Collectivum Assembly wish to work through these issues we would be happy to discuss the matters.

QUEEN FRUSTRATED AT UCA CHARTER

It is my belief that the UCA is an organisation with the best of intentions, however its a shambles in many ways. First it is passing resolutions then repealing them without robust debate, if the organisation is to actually be effective it needs time to formally have its members sit and discuss openly measures it wishes to take. The decisions any organisation such as the UCA make would have global ramifications and can not be made in haste and backtracked on. However even the resolution it has passed made no motion towards action, debate and votes on resolutions are fine but they must authorise some kind of solution.

Furthermore looking at the newly proposed charter I feel the organisation is doomed to not be representative. The new charter is being drawn up without the consultation of the international community, only with people who signed up to an organisation in haste that had no clear rules or structure. Vinitsia know we consider them close partners, yet to see them given a seat on a security council with a minute military is a little off, for example should United Moreland join we'd be outside this central power of the organisation yet we've proposed more international means of co-operation than any nation on Audaxia. I'm frustrated that Maddomia and it's UCA partners are creating an organisation that is hoping to be considered the premier international organisation but is taking no active measures to be representative of the communities ideas. The more I see of the UCA the more I see it as an organisation dominated by select nations wishing to cushion their own influence.

I call upon the organisation to show some leadership, to repeal all it has done so far and call a formal founding conference, start with a blank piece of paper and make the UCA an organisation representative of all nations.
