THE EMPIRE OF TEUTONIC UNITY

The Empire is made up from 16 Principalities which were gradually conquered by the Principality of Thale and its ruling Huber dynasty. In 1105 Thale brought neighbouring Blankenburg under its authority with that Principalities Head of State swearing an oath of loyallty to the Huber's. This conquest spured the Huber's inland from their coastal home and by 1706 they had brought a total of 15 other Principalities under their command. Today the Empire the Huber's created is an elected monarchy where the Emperor has much of the same power as a President may in another nation. Each Principality retains sovereignty over certain of its own affairs with the Emperor being mainly responsible for foreign, economic and defence policy. As such this has seen political power games take place between the various ruling families.

GOVERNMENT SYSTEM
The Union is a Federated Monarchy, this is a rather unique system of government where each State is ruled by its own royal family who in turn serve under an Emperor who is elected upon the death of the previous one. While the general population vote on this matter it is highly unlikely that the Huber's of Thale shall ever lose as most citizens vote for their own state's monarch and Thale has the largest population by a significant 18 million margin.
The Emperor is responsible for
1. Managing Foreign Policy
2. Signing Treaties and Agreements
3. Approving legislation before it becomes law, they may also veto legislation
4. Appoints and Dismisses the Cabinet
5. Manages the national budget.
Beneath the Emperor is the Council of Princes, which despite the name is made up of three representatives of each state in addition to their monarch. The Council may propose any legislation and debate it freely along with Cabinet ministers, however only the Council vote on matters tabled. Any legislation gaining a majority is passed to the Emperor for approval.
The Lander - Each State has a Lander which is its own council, they are responsible for running the State's day to day affairs and each operates in it's own way.

Huber's of Thale Family History
The Huber family have dominated the Union since they began to expand the Teutonic state of Thale into surrounding territory in the 12th Century. Realising the complex nature of running a large and ethnically diverse Empire the Huber's established the current system of government and while not always winning the election for Emperor they have always remained a key part of the government thanks largely to the state of Thale having the largest population. | Coat of Arms

Born July 19, 1976 Hans was the eldest son of Emperor Joachim Huber II and was elected with minimal problems in 2007. He had served as a member of the Princes Council since the age of 21 having graduated from University with a degree in History.

Empress Evelyn, Princess of Thale, Duchess of Ruddesheim
Born February 27, 1980 Evelyn was the only child of Peter Schmidt, the Duke of Ruddesheim. Emperor Joachim Huber II and Duke Peter had been in the military together and encouraged the pair to meet often. Evelyn at 17 accompanied Hans to his graduation and on her 18th birthday Hans asked Duke Peter for permission to begin courting his daughter. In 2003 Evelyn graduated University with a degree in Music and accepted Han's marriage proposal. The two have a son (Joachim born in 2010) and a daughter (Magdalena born in 2013)

Tresler's of Burgdorf Family History
Burgdorf was conquered by Thale in 1105, shortly after Prince Raymond Tresler was crowned after being selected by the Emperor to govern in his name. The Burgdorf family have also held the position of Emperor on two occasions, the last being in 1604 when the Prince of Burgdorf was married to the Emperor daughter. Prince Rudolf Tresler
Born on June 2nd, 1995 the Prince inherited the throne when he was 12 years old, however because of his age he was unable to take the reigns of power until his 18th birthday where he was crowned by the Emperor himself. He is currently combining his duties as a royal with studying for a degree in Chemistry at University (part time). He is a keen sportsman and represented Burgdorf in the Principality Handball Championships at U-16 level but since with pressures on his time has given up the sport.

Peter's of Salzgitter Family History
Added to the Empire in 1166 Salzgitter is the third largest state. The Peter's family have however experienced great uphevel with several civil wars between branches of the dynasty. This saw an Imperial Army occupy the territory from 1233 until 1307 and again from 1477-1512. The state has however been stable for the last 200 years. Prince Erik Peter
Born December 29th 1972 Prince Erik was the second son of Prince Arthur Peter, as such he was never expected to take the throne. As such he shirked much responsibility and earned a reputation as a champagne swilling playboy. In 1997 he used his inheritance to buy a motor racing team and appointed himself as chief driver enjoying some success. In 2004 his elder brother died of cancer and Erik immediately seemed to engage with royal duties while maintaining his playboy lifestyle. In 2008 he inherited the throne.
He is currently married to Princess Tatania, the 2nd daughter of the Duke of Eald since 2010. He has a son, (Arthur) with Tatania born in 2013 as well as a daughter (Rebekah, Duchess of Lindt, born 1998) and a son (Albert, Duke of Ulm, born 2000)

Rebekah Soren, Duchess of Lindt (born 1998) is the illegitamate child of Prince Erik and his then girlfriend Krista Rosendahl, a renowned member of the Imperial Grand Orchestra. Erik made her Duchess his first day as ruler of Salzgitter.
Albert Kemper, Duke of Ulm (born 2000) Prince Erik's second illegitimate child. Albert's mother is Susanna Kemper the daughter of the Duchess of Rosberg. The two had a series of one night stands. Like his step-sister Rebekah Eric en-nobled him the first day of his reign.

Loewe's of Goslar Family History
Added to the Empire in 1181 Goslar was one of the first nations to voluntarily become part of the Empire. This was when Prince Rupert Bergmann was betrayed by the Hostke family who made a secret pact with the Emperor. After the betrayal the Hostke family inherited the throne, however since then their has been various marriages and adoptions that have seen the The Loewe family inherited the throne by marriage in 1789 when Duke Bertram Loewe of Silesa married Princess Eleanor Troch . | Coat of Arms

Prince Henrike Loewe, Duke of Silesa
Born on the 28th June 1930 Henrike is the oldest child of Prince Ruben and inherited the throne in 1978. Henrike served from the age of 18 to the age of 40 in the Armed forces reaching the rank of Lt.Col in the Imperial Reconnaissance Force where he even voulenterred for parachute training. Following his retirement from the military in 1970 he established a private military school called the Kolbe Academy of Arms where he taught marksmanship, even today he occasionally teaches students. In 1960 he married Katarina Neuer and the two had two sons, Timothy (born 1962) and Gustav (born 1967)

Princess Katarina (born 1931) was the daughter of a senior officer who meet the then Captain at an Officers Ball. The two married a year later and the Princess first of all worked as a member of the veterans charity Hope for Heroes before dedicating herself to royal duties and bringing up their two children Timothy and Gustav.
Duke Timothy Loewe (born 1962) first of all followed in his father's footsteps and joined the military at 18. At the age of 26 however he injured his knee and left. After holding various city based jobs he established the not for profit organisation ShelterStay with his brother, which provides homeless people with a dorm room in a hotel for three months while also providing them with a job in the establishment during which time they are trained and helped find a permanent job and place to stay. He is married to the Jessica Klume (born 1965) and the pair have one child, Agatha (born 1990)
Duke Gustav Loewe (born 1967). Did not join the military much to his father's annoyance. Instead went to University where he trained in Financial Management. After establishing his own micro bank which was successful he established the ShelterStay scheme, a project that he handles the finances for while his brother takes a more hands on roll within the organisation. He is married to Elisabeth Beltz (born 1980), a distant cousin of the Princess Elfriede Beltz the monarch of Laatzen. The pair have a daughter Karin (born 2007)

Huffman's of Westfeld Family History
Add to the Empire n 1207 the Huffman's had for the best part of 500 years been the cornerstone of the religious life of the Empre withthe family providing the vast majority of the nations Cardinals. The family also control several of the key ports in the Empire making them highly influential even today.

Princess Evelyn
Born on September 12th , 1986 Evelyn became ruler of Westfeld in May 2015 following the death of her older brother Stephen who died in a boating accident. Evelyn was part of the Imperial Ballet and a keen supporter of the arts. She is also an extremly keen horse rider owning several pure breeds and has even branched out recently into horse racing. Evelyn is currently single.

Guinevere is the younger sister of Princess Evelyn. She is currently studying a PhD in Astronomy with hopes of becoming part of the Empires space agency in a support role. She also works as a voulenteer leader at the Air Scouts, a youth group for 13-18 year olds with an interest in aviation.

Kopp's of Elze Family History
In 1608 the Kopp family rose up against the Trotcher Family who ruled Elze and by joining with the Huber's gained control of the area. The family however struggled to control the region against outside help and as such agreed to come under the direct rule of the Empire. Since then the family have been strong supporters of the Emperor and have a strong military heritage.

Princess Sibylle
Born on January 7th, 1988 Sibylle was a star student at Thale Girls Grammar School (TGGS) where she graduated a year ahead of schedule. While at TGGS she captained the girls hockey team, a team which also featured Lady Guinevere Huffman as such the Huffman's and Kopp's enjoy a great friendship. Sibylle began working alongside her father at the age of 21 having completed a degree in Zoology. She inherited the throne in 2010 and has since served as a cabinet advisor on animal rights issues from time to time. She is currently engaged to Duke Leopold Jakobson, Duke of Rohl, a city in the province of Mora.

Schräder's of Giesen Family History
In 1389 the region of Giesen finally surrended to the Empire following a two year siege of their capital., Dormund. The defence was lead by Prince Maximillian Schräder who was granted leave to remain as Prince if his sister married the Emperor. That was agreed and the family have remained ever since, in addition because of the tenacity of the defenders the Army even today have an Infantry Unit named the Schräder Legion making them the only royal family to have a serving regiment in their honour.

Princess Amelia
Born on 12th July 1966, Princess Amelia was a quiet girl who was determined to suffer from congenative progressive deafness, despite this she graduated from Thale Royal University with a top degree in Literature and Edcuation. In 1987 she began work at the Royal Deaf Academy teaching Literature part time while also undertaking some royal duties. In 1995 she became the ruler of Giesen and has also served as Minister of Education in the cabinet. She married Captain Pieter Nowok, a member of the militia in 1988 after meeting him while he was on duty at the families palace. The couple have one son, Henri, born in 1990

The Commanding Officer of the Giesen Militia he meet the Princess while stationed at Dormund Palace. The pair began dating and married six months later. He still serves as a military officer in the local militia force.

Born in 1990 Duke Henri is currently completing a Master's degree in aeronautical engineering at the Royal Institute of Science of Technology. He serves in the Air Force University Air Squadron and he intends to enroll as an officer once he graduates.

FAMILES OF THE UNION PART TWO
Beltz of Laatzen Family History
Considered to have carved out a rather unique niche amongst the royal families the Laatzen's have earned a reputation as being the builders of the Empire. They joined the Empire in 1262 and the Empire invested heavily in the mining industry which saw the Beltz's family acquire several large silver mines. As a result they used this wealth to undertake large public works projects all engraved with the family name.

Born May 14th, 1969 Elfriede is considered the more unconventional monarch in the Empire. She is a committed atheist and campaigner of LGBT+ rights. She has encouraged her citizens to do public service as a career and she herself volunteers for a charity providing adult education to those with poor basic skills. She has made it a mission to ensure all her citizens have access to free education at all levels. She married scientist Giles Yacob in 1994. The pair have two children, Duke Henri (born in 1996) and Duchess Olivia in (2000)

A scientist who works for an organisation which is developing technology to use robotics and prosthetics together. He also lectures one day a week at the local university.

Born in 1996 he has recently become a dog handler in the coastguard where he works with a specialist anti-smuggling team. His mother has ensured he is free to concentrate of that career rather than royal duties.
Duchess Olivia (born 2000) is a full time student. Outside of school time she volunteers at a local riding school for children with disabilities.

Kaspar's of Peine FAMILY HISTORY
Occupied in 1601 the Princiaplity of Peine became formally part of the Empire two years later after the brutal execution of the Gruber family. The Emperor then installed Adolph Kaspar as the new Prince and since then the Principality has been steadily growing in prosperity. Today the Kaspar family are one of the wealthier families having invested heavily in various industries.

Born April 10th, 1929 Steffan is one of the longest serving monarchs having become the Prince in 1972. As Prince he has served on the cabinet in various forms most recently as Foreign Minister between 2002-2010. Prince Steffan has been married twice. In 1960 he married Duchess Iona Franke, who died in 1993. The pair had a son called Raymond (born 1964). In 2002 he remarried the much younger Duchess Tania Mulhelm (born 1972) and the two have a daughter called Jessica (born 2004)

Raymond is currently beginning to slowly take over many of his ageing father's duties and is essentially responsible for the Principality on a day to day basis. He is a former Merchant Seaman who works voluntarily as part of the national lifeboat brigade. In 1999 he married Lady Claire Humbolt (born 1970) and the pair have a son called Tobias (born 2006)

The Princess is the daughter of wealth businessman Charles Mulhelm nad formerly served as one of the Ladies in Waiting to Queen and then became a member of the Royal Household. She struck up a friendship with Prince Steffan and the pair began dating amidst much controversy. The two have a daughter called Jessica.

Wetterman's of Lehre Family History
In 1383 the second daughter of King Lucian Wetterman married the Emperor of Thale, this ensured that Lehre became part of the Empire yet maintained the families control. The Principality is renowned for its brewing and hosts several beer and wine festivals through the year.

Emma was born on November 11th, 1964 and inherited the throne on her sixth birthday. In 1982 she became Princess in her own right and has been considered a slightly absentee ruler perfering to allow her Council to run the Principality on behalf while she has devoted herself to family matters. Essentially she only acts as a figure head to the Principality and represents it on state occasions. In 1983 she married Sir Otto Gustavsson (born 1957) after he had served on her royal guard. The pair have four children, Duke Stephen (born 1985), Grace (born 1987), Anna (born 1990), Alphonse (born 1995)

Otto is a native of Mustla who found himself attached as a young officer to the Royal Guard and responsible to Princess Emma. The two became close friends and started a relationship. Today Sir Otto works as a firearms advisor to the police.
Duke Stephen (born 1985) currently acting on the cabinet of the Principality he is beginning to take over more and more of the duties of state. Stephen is also a Naval reservist where he serves as a search and rescue diver. He is currently dating a TV News Anchor called Maxine Kolper
Duchess Grace was born in 1987 and is currently working a veterinary officer in the Army. She also acts as patron for several wildlife charities and is a professed vegetarian. She is currently single.
Duchess Anna (born 1990) is currently working as a translator for the government having graduated from University with a degree in Languages and Linguistics. She is currently engaged to an army officer called Peter Jaholm.
Duke Alphonse (born 1995) is current at University serving a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering.

Fuhrmann's of Walbeck Family History
The Principality of Walbeck became part of the Empire in 1404 following a ten year war with the Imperial forces. Since becoming part of the Empire the region has become one of heavy industry with many large manufacturing companies taking advantage of the Fuhrmann families willingness to invest in the working class by providing jobs and also supporting education. The family have established four Universities in the last century.

Born on January 30th 1937 Princess Vanessa was the sister of the former monarch and inherited the throne in 2000. Previously she had worked as a doctor and had advised her brother as his Minister of Health. In 1972 she set up the Teutonic Doctors Union (TDU) an emergency response NGO that has now dealt with a large range of situations ranging from disease outbreaks to natural disasters. In 1966 she married the Duke of Lobz, Achille Sansar and they have two children, Duke Leo (born 1968) and Duchess Roxanna (born 1971)

Achille was a former military doctor and also the second son of a steel owning family. He has always preferred not to be part of royal affairs and instead has concentrated on running the families businesses which have provided the money with great wealth.
Duke Leo (born 1968) The eldest son of the Princess he is openly gay and a well known global campaigner for LGBT rights, he has begun taking on much of his mother's royal duties and announced in 2015 he intends to marry long term partner Sven Loking, a journalist in the near future now the Union recognises same sex marriage.
Duchess Roxanna (born 1971) a rather whimsicial member of the family, she is obsessed with art and has spent large sums of money collecting a national collection of art works as well as producing her own. She is the patron of several art based charities. In 2004 she married fellow artist Lucas Bohme. The pair have a daughter called Yasmine who was born in 2010.

Kristensen's of Mora Family History
Mora became part of the Empire in 1701 through the Treaty of Gloin. At this time the Ragnarsson family agreed to act as vassals of the Imperial family in return for being allowed to maintain Odinism as the nations main religion. This act ensured that the ever more isolated nation was not invaded and forced to convert to Christianity. However in the 1800's a Christian Uprising began by Lutherans who were committed to ending Odinism, they were defeated with help from the Emperor and many fled the country. Today the faith still exists here and Mora is seen as a kind of Holy Land for Odinists thanks to the many shrines and groves that exist under protection of the Kristensen family.

Born March 26th 1985, Camilla inherited the throne in 2013 following the death of her grandfather, her father was considered unfit to take the crown after suffering from encephalopathy which made him mentally incapable. The Princess was granted the title "Defender of the Faith" by the Head Gothi (like the pope) of Mora in 2014 after investing funds to ensure the various sites within the Principality were looked after. She married a former Odinist priest in 2014 and created his Lord Tobias Odinsson of Mora.

Left school at 16 to join the Priesthood he rose through the ranks to become Gothi of the shrine of Heimdall in Uppsala. He left the priesthood in 2012 to serve as a Gothi in the armed forces. He married the Princess in 2014.

Fermi's of Isernia Family History
In 1463 the Fermi family were placed on the throne following the Huber's taking power. The Fermi family have earnt a reputation for being a rather extravagent family, enjoying the finer things in life and at times this has seen them fall into debt, however for the last century or so the family have diversified into business by turning many of their palaces into luxury hotels, this has begun to earn them a substantial income.

Born on March 10th, 1983 Vinicio inherited the throne in 2003. He had already earned himself a reputation befitting his family by having written off several expensive sports cars and was spotted leaving several high profile parties with celebrities of the Union. As monarch of Isernia he has continued to lavish money on projects to make luxury resorts, spa's and other expensive luxury developments. Isernia is also well know for government corruption, something the Huber's have struggled to control. In 2015 he married socialite Lady Clarissa Morena but already rumours are abound of his infidelity.

Ó Dubhshláine's of Braide Family History
Confined to a narrow patch of poor quality land the Braide Principality willingly asked to be part of the Empire having suffered a great many famines and plagues. In 1383 the Treaty of Limalk was signed making the area part of the Empire. Since then the Empire have always been supportive of the area which in the 20th Century has become a powerhouse in the Empire after discovery of natural gas in the region. This extra revenue has now been invested in high tech industries which is seeing the area blossom.

Princess Úna Ó Dubhshláine
Born November 3rd 1962, Una was the first Princess to inherit the throne under rules which granted male and females equal consideration for inheritance, something unique to Braide in terms of it's monarchy. She was home schooled with an education aimed to prepare her for ruling the Principality and her whole life had been a preparation for ruling. She is a strict Catholic and has attempted to push the fortunes of the faith within the Empire, often bringing her into clashes with Emperor Hans Huber. She is married to Lord Owen O'Keefe and has two children (Orlaith (born 1989) and Eoin (born 1991)

Lord Owen O'Keefe (1960)
The owner of a large fishing fleet it is thought that 33% of all fish eaten in the Union comes from an O'Keefe vessel. He was introduced to the Princess in 1982 by his father and the two became friends marrying in 1986.
Duchess Orlaith (born 1989) is currently at University studying a Master's degree in Biomedical Science. She is keen to spend some time working in what she refers to as "the real world" before undertaking royal duties. She is currently dating the son of Duke of Richmond.
Duke Eoin (born 1991) the Duke is currently serving in the Imperial Navy as a weapons officer onboard a destroyer.

Ivanov's of Kedrovy Family History
In 1566 the Kedrovy Republic submitted to the Empire. In the years that followed several families vied for the support of the Emperor and in 1580 the Ivanov's were given the crown and the Principality was formed. The region has become steadfastly loyal with many young men volunteering for military service.

Born 10th September 1968 Mikhail left school at 16 and joined the Army, he initially entered as a Private in the Imperial Rifles and 1988 was sent to officer training school. He spent until 2000 in the military earning the rank of Captain, after which he inherited the throne and became a reservist in the 3rd Imperial Guard Regiment. He married the now Duchess of Yonesk in 1989 and the couple have two children (Aleksandr (born 1990) and Masha (born 1996) . The Prince is also close to his sister Yana (born 1971) who acts as his advisor

Other Key Royals
Princess Natalia (1968) was a nurse in the military when she meet Mikhail. The pair married six months after meeting and 9 months later Natalia gave birth prompting some to say Aleksandr was conceived before they were married. She still works one day a week as a nurse in the local hospital.
Duke Aleksandr Ivanov was born in 1990 and is currently serving in the Air Force as a pilot on-board an attack helicopter. He currently holds the rank of Flying Officer.
Duchess Masah Ivanov was born in 1996 and has become the first female member of the family to attend university. She is currently at Thale Academy of Music studying a degree in Music and Music Therapy. Following in the family tradition however she is also a musician in the Imperial Cavalry as a reservist.
Duchess Yana Ivanov (born 1971) is the Prince's sister and his chief advisor. She is well versed in politics having spent a lot of time with the Huber family when the Huber's considered an arranged marriage between Hans and Yana. She is currently unmarried after her husband died in 2005, she has a daughter Sofia, born in 2003.

Astrauckas of Mustla Family History
In 1193 the Astrauckas essentially ensured a part in the Union by having their youngest daughter marry the Emperor's 2nd son. The tie ensured that when the various families of Mustla attacked the Empire helped. In 1603 the then Prince of Mustla married the daughter of the Emperor further ensuring the family were secure in their position.

Born on the 21st February 1996 Kaia is the youngest of the Union's monarchs inheriting the throne on her 18th birthday from her uncle Villem who had acted as regent since her parents died in a terrorist attack when she was 6. She now combines studying Politics and Law at University with royal ceremonial duties leaving her uncle to still do much of the day to day running. She has a younger sister called Marika (born 1998). She is also close to her cousins who she grew up with (Kaja (born 1990) , Toomas (born 1992) and Liisu (born 1994) . She is currently single

Duke Villem of Guiz (1968)
Regent of Mustla since 2002 he still undertakes much of the day to day running of the Principality having encouraged Kaia to attend university and get well educated. He is her uncle and father of her three closest friends Kaja, Toomas and Liisu.
Duchess Marika (born 1998) is the younger sister of Kaia and currently completing her high schooling. She has already expressed an interest in attending university and studying medicine next year.
Lady Kaja Astrauckas (born1990) is currently running the family estates and establishing an events company of her own. She is currently dating Duke Henri of Giesen.
Lord Toomas Astrauckas (born 1992) is currently serving in the merchant navy where he plans to serve until he is 30 before setting up his own shipping company.
Lady Liisu Astrauckas (born 1994)is currently at university studying Law and Politics. She is a keen sportswoman and represents the Union in Archery.
