BACKGROUND

The Empire is made up from 7 Principalities which were gradually conquered by the Principality of Thale and its ruling Huber dynasty. In 1105 Thale brought neighbouring Kingdoms under its authority with that Principalities Head of State swearing an oath of loyallty to the Huber's. This conquest spured the Huber's inland from their coastal home and by 1706 they had brought a total of 6 other Principalities under their command. Today the Empire the Huber's created is an elected monarchy where the Emperor has much of the same power as a President may in another nation. Each Principality retains sovereignty over certain of its own affairs with the Emperor being mainly responsible for foreign, economic and defence policy. As such this has seen political power games take place between the various ruling families.

GOVERNMENT SYSTEM

The Union is a Federated Monarchy, this is a rather unique system of government where each State is ruled by its own royal family who in turn serve under an Emperor who is elected upon the death of the previous one. While the general population vote on this matter it is highly unlikely that the Huber's of Thale shall ever lose as most citizens vote for their own state's monarch and Thale has the largest population by a significant 18 million margin.

The Emperor is responsible for

1. Managing Foreign Policy
2. Signing Treaties and Agreements
3. Approving legislation before it becomes law, they may also veto legislation
4. Appoints and Dismisses the Cabinet
5. Manages the national budget.

Beneath the Emperor is the Council of Princes, which despite the name is made up of three representatives of each state in addition to their monarch. The Council may propose any legislation and debate it freely along with Cabinet ministers, however only the Council vote on matters tabled. Any legislation gaining a majority is passed to the Emperor for approval.

The Lander - Each State has a Lander which is its own council, they are responsible for running the State's day to day affairs and each operates in it's own way.

EMPEROR HANS HUBER III

Posted Image

Born in Thale on July 19, 1976 he was the second son of Emperor Charles V. His elder brother Lucian was two years older and died when Hans was ten years old after contracting Meningitus after that point he was prepared by his father to inherit the throne, confident of the fact that the Thale majority would ensure his son's eventual election.

Hans was educated privately at the Thale St.Erasmus Academy for Boys until the age of 18. His teachers described him as particularly bright and exceptionally gifted in Mathematics and Sciences. At the age of 16 he began courting Katarina Martin, a student at the St.Erasmus Academy for Girls, who he meet during a joint school Ball in 1992. She was the daughter of a prominent Duke from one of the minor principalities and the pair became very close.

In 1994 Hans and Katarina both enrolled at Thale Science Academy, Hans studying Maritime Design while Katarina studied Biomedical Engineering. In 1996 the pair were married in a large ceremony at Thale University attended by all the Prince's and Princesses of the Union. The pair both graduated from University in 1998, Katarina began work at the University as a junior researcher while Hans enrolled in the Navy as expected for a young royal. This service was however cut short when his father died in 2000 following a stroke brought on by him being grossly overweight. Hans was crowned Emperor after winning the election with 56% of the total vote nation wide. He immediately had Katarine crowned Empress.

In 2004 Katarina gave birth to their first child, Princess Susanna. In 2010 they had a second child, Crown-Prince Maximillion however Katarina died from complications arising from child-birth. Hans had tried to be as active a father as possible despite his royal duties.

The Emperor is keen to see the Teutonic Union as a global diplomatic power.

He has also invested heavily in high tech industries across his nation which has been possible by exploiting the nations valuable mineral reserves.

In 2014 he meet Anja Von Ingersleben, the grand-daughter of the Prince of Bornholm while attending a ceremony to name a new warship. The two began courting and were married in early 2016, there is a 15 year age gap between them. She was Empress the day after their wedding.
