BACKGROUND
Human settlement in Vilsandi began about 12,000 years ago when the glacial ice began to melt. The oldest know settlement is the Vundi Settlement which is in the north of the country. The first King of the nation was a Prince of Germanic descent named Otto however in the 1300s the House of Kaljurand took power and have been the monarchy of the country ever since.The capital of Vilsandi is the city of Vihterpalu and this is the home of the Royal Family, the Parliament, the Government and all its ministries. The country is a democracy with elections every 5 years for the Chancellor and the Parliament. The King has some power such as veto and he can dismiss and appoint Chancellors however this is normally only when the Chancellery elections have took place and a new one has been elected.
